All Things:AMC television

Don't care 'bout nothing else...got my Carol back!

P.S. I like Michael Cudlitz joining the show too...although I am sure this is another one of those 10-12 episode guest arcs.

Review: The Walking Dead - Inmates: Its alright to cry

(*) Their leader is played by Michael Cudlitz, who was so great on TNT's "Southland." He's playing another character from the comics, which means it's time for an extra warning about not giving away events or information that have yet to occur on the TV show. (See the end of the the review for the full list of rules.) You want to call him Abraham, that's fine, but beyond that, say nothing til the show reveals it.
I stopped reading comic after they lost the prison...so I am curious now(no spoilers comic book readers).

(This was also perhaps the most blatantly red-shirty episode of the series to date. With Hershel and the Governor already dead, it turns out that every single remaining character we knew the slightest bit about survived, while all the dead people on the bus, at the train tracks, etc., were completely anonymous. When Bob laments of the bus passengers, "They were good people, all of them," I stifled a laugh.)
GREAT point.

I'm just excited that Carol, moon of my life, is back. Lizzie is a ****ing psychopath and Beth is annoying and I feel bad that Daryl is stuck with her, of all people.

I'm pretty excited for the new characters! I've never read the comics, so I don't really know what to expect, but apparently they're good people.....which is a nice change.

GREAT point.

This article brought up some very good points. I only have some hope for the show to pick up a bit after the show last night. At least they did develop some of the characters last night (Lizzie), brought some back (Carol, Little Butt Kicker) and introduced new (Abraham and crew).

It does feel like they are running head long to where Kirkman is now in the comic though. And they have been wide open about wanting to kill off a major character this year - which is more foreshadowing, to me at least, that they don't really know where to go with the series, just looking for the shock value ... Still missing Darabont as my wife and youngest watched Season 1 all the way through yesterday. The pilot of this series is one of the best pilots I have ever scene ...

Great episode. The opening with Glenn especially - very tense, and I like the addition of someone from the Governor's camp. Also, the psycho girl almost smothering the baby. It looks like they are finally going to give Maggie's sister a personality, so that's helpful. That scene of Tyrese and the little girls having to run in the night - imagine if there was no moon. I swear Maggie's accent was slipping. The new guys who popped in at the end have my interest, as does the Terminus.

Presumably the five small groups everyone has been split into will become two or three groups shortly since five is probably too many to manage when you have commercial breaks.

Why does Tyrese fight with such a stupid weapon that requires him to get extremely close to zombies? Find a sporting goods store already.
Why do morons (specifically train track victim #2 ) turn their back on zombies, especially when it is the LAST REMAINING zombie?
What the hell stupid thing did the people on the bus do to all get slaughtered?

I wonder if they are heading towards Carol having to see herself in Lizzie, and maybe, for the greater good, make a decision like Rick did with her. Be an interesting twist. I am truly worried for Carol and her longevity on the show. To me, she is AS untouchable as Darryl...but I don't think the powers that be see her that way. Pretty sure a major character will pass come the last of these back 8. I would be VERY proud of them if it was Rick...but it won't be. It will be someone that the audience LIKES. Ever since the actress playing Carol got on the main cast titles(not till the beginning of this damned season b.t.w., she had been listed as a guest star until then) I have been afraid for her safety. Don't screw it up Kirkman and all, Darryl may be the heart of the show, but Carol is the soul.

So without saying too much (since you haven't read the books past prison knockdown) - the emergence of a certain weapon (I saw it on a picture that was in the foreground with Rick in background) has foretold who will die - IF THEY FOLLOW THE BOOKS. This will be the truly shocking death, which I think they are after. I still don't trust the powers that be and have thought many times to walk away from the show but now that my whole family is fully in I will continue to watch.

I don't really trust Kirkman at all. He just strikes me as overwhelmingly happy that his books are a hit and he is making some good coin out of it. I don't think there is anyone left to rein him in (as Darabont could do) if the networks wants something done. Then again, who am I? It isn't my story or concept so Kirkman can do whatever he wants I guess.

Characters I would be pissed to see die: Glenn, Daryl, Maggie, Michonne (well, mostly Michonne's katana)
Characters I would not mind seeing die: Pretty much everyone else
Characters I would enjoy see dying: Tyrese's useless sister, negatively useful alcoholic doctor dude, Carl, the annoying apparently no-longer ginger chick on Brooklyn 99, everyone on Arya's list, Piz, Ted Mosby, every NBC late night host

So we get a bit more. Loved the scene of the 3 zombies being enamored with the mylar balloons hung up on the stop sign. Got to file that one away. Good on Rick leaving the dead guys to reanimate and attack their comrades! And a bit more about Michonne is always a good thing. And we learned more about Sgt. Ford and his traveling band. Anyone else think Ford isn't the brightest bulb in the box ...? Nice filler epi ...

I kept thinking the people that broke into the house were just a figment of his imagination. The scene in the kid's playroom was well done.

Since he believes that a 'doctor' with a mullet, slow reaction time, and questionable taste in clothing knows how to save the world, I vote no. My daughter thinks the doctor shot up the truck on purpose.

So that is really an interesting idea! I wouldn't be at all surprised. I know the full story on Sgt. Ford and his traveling posse (as long as they follow the books) but mullet boy's smug attitude towards Ford begets all sorts of ideas about his character IMHO.

well I'll start...Odd episode of Walking dead last night. "Bottle" episode, where you had the Good(More Darryl) and the bad(More Beth). Some insight and fleshing out of both characters, but given the premium on there only being 5 more after that one...not really worth much when all is said and done. Darryl definitely plays better when he has some of the stronger characters around him, at times, like he kinda did when Merle was around, he came off all 'wounded child-y', which undermines everything that people like about him. It's hard to see him feeling sorry for himself. Nice to see his breakdown as far as not being able to save everyone...that was a different story and didn't stink of 'poor me'. Mixed bag for sure.

I actually liked the epi last night (as did my family - they are all women and all about Darryl!). I liked the bit of back story on him and his "tee off" was epic. I thought the bit on how he felt responsible was a reasonable response.

I think they are bleeding the last five until everyone ends up at Terminus and we really won't know what it is all about until they all get there and then all will be explained. I think they are toying with folks who have read the graphic novel with a certain weapon being shown in posters. I doubt we get that until next season ... at least I hope it is that way. I still don't like the advertising of killing off of a major character. Smells like AMC dramatic effect ...

That being said...having to overnight in a sedan trunk(despite the roominess) while the car is overrun with walkers...that made my back sweat.

That was pretty wild. I couldn't tell (was making and serving dinner at the same time) whether the walkers were forcefully trying to open trunk or if they even knew Darryl and Beth were there. They have been letting on about little things that impact walkers - Michonne's use of hiding directly with them with walkers, fire and the mylar balloons - there has to be more things that distract them. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
