New ‘Preacher’ Trailer Walks Both Sides of the Line; ‘Talking Preacher’ Announced
http://collider.com/preacher-trailer-talking-preacher/

Look, Hardwick is the KING of post game wrap up, as evidenced by ANY other wrap up chat show...but it does seem mildly premature. That being said, it's nice to see that AMC is apparently going all in on Preacher. I have made my peace with this. It won't be MY Preacher...but that does not mean it won't represent. As always, PLEASE do yourself a favor and read the source material. It really is breathtaking.

Review: Why Seth Rogen's 'Preacher' was wise to chart a course away from the comics

...Their Preacher, which debuts Sunday night at 10, is faithful to the spirit of the comic, but screws around on the letter a fair piece. I imagine the changes will fill some Preacher purists with the same kind of rage the comics' chief villain felt about improper use of inverted commas, but as someone who owns every issue (along with the various spin-off titles), often in multiple formats, I enjoyed the hell out of the first four episodes. The story may deviate wildly at times, there may be new and/or revamped characters, and the show isn't always graceful as it ambles from one tone or genre to the next. But more often than not, it gave me the same giddy sensation I first experienced when a cardboard box filled with Preacher issues arrived from my friend Scott with a note advising, "Read this. You can thank me later. P.S. I'm sorry for much of what you're about to see."...
...This is an oddball show, yet even as it's figuring out its proper pace and how seriously the audience should be taking any given scene, individual moments ? particularly the chaotic, yet meticulously-choreographed, fight scenes ? thrum with such energy that you want to forgive its sins in the same way some of Jesse's parishioners beg him for help feeling closer to the Almighty. Rogen, Goldberg, and Catlin's alternate narrative may ultimately be proven too small to contain Ennis' huge, crazy ideas, but it's not going to be a boring journey on the way to finding that out.

Adaptations are tricky. The medium makes a huge difference. So, plotting a course that (hopefully) works for the medium is always the best way, IMO. Whether it means being faithful to the source material, straying far from it, or something in between, the trick is just to get it right; because if you don't, you will be second-guessed up the wazoo, The Walking Dead. (Just kidding, of course. I can't judge that, because I neither watch that show nor read the books. However, I did read some Preacher, and I will check out the show, too.)

Have you read Preacher? If so...do you intend to watch? If not, do you intend to watch?

I tried to read the Preacher, but I can't read. cry:

When I watched the first few teasers and trailers of the upcoming show, haha, I was probably pretty sauced up and convinced that it was going to be the greatest thing ever. Now that we're just a few days away (eek!), I am more concerned. Still, I am cautiously optimistic and ready to let the tv series stand on it's own. I am not so much worried if the storyline will deviate here and there, which it will, but more with the tone and style overall. I mean it sorta has to have a good amount of that brand of black humor, you know? ;)

I was half asleep, but who wants to explain to me what exactly is going on in preacher!

Is he a superhero, or just a guy who knows how to fight well and became a preacher after doing dastardly deeds in a dastardly past life he tried to leave behind?

Was the irish guy able to get his guts back into form after eating the cow and/or because he's satan's spawn?

Never read the comics... thought the pilot was good enough to keep me watching.

The very cartoony opening in space of some entity had me thinking 'ok'. Then the Africa preacher gets pulped. First of many F-ed up parts of the pilot. LOL

Irish guy is some kind of vampire being hunted by someone. He survives the plane by eating the cow. No idea who he is right now though.

Based on Tulip being some kind of operative and the bar fight, I would say Preacher Jesse was in the same field. And at the end of the Ep it was clear he was possessed by the space entity (which we saw at the beginning).

Finally got around to watching the mid-season finale of Fear TWD due to the long weekend up here. It was a lot of 'meh'... after being pretty good so far this year.

Show was starting to get really good and then it just took a huge jump back with the episodes at the villa. We already saw people who collected zombies because they somehow did not grasp that things that rip people's faces off were not normal. And maybe one or two characters too many losing their minds.

Dunno. Kinda liked the finale' of Fear The Walking Dead. Not perfect, for instance...Travis needs to have a 'look at the flowers' moment with Chris. But that will maybe come. As far as, 'we already saw how that worked out on TWD', well...there are going to be issues that retread themes already seen on the parent show. I didn't mind the Dia De Los Muertos groove of it all. It was an interesting spin. I did think Daniel spun out way too far, way too quickly. Considering he was one of the more fleshed out characters on the show it was a major disappointment. I don't think he is dead yet though. Ditto Celia. I had a theory that they are creating their own big bads as they stumble along the way. The girl from the web series in particular. Not to mention the hijackers. And now Celia. Still don't like Madison, but her and Strand forming an alliance is interesting. As far as Junkie Gilbert Grape, he is the best character on the show. But could easily spin out into unbelievability. The biggest problem this show is facing is dwindling ratings. People gave up on this show early and often, and despite the turn in quality...they aren't coming back. Already greenlit for season 3...so AMC faces a dilemma.

Does Fear TWD get any ratings periods besides May? It seems more like AMC's 'fill-the-TWD-gaps' show. It's either that or show more Westerns. :) And it returns from Summer-Break in August...?

Still, the speculation is that it is becoming a drain on the franchise. I'll try to find the article I read, but they suggest that the relative failure of Fear will eventually undermine the mothership in some eyes. The problem isn't JUST lower ratings. It's that they are still trending downward. At some point, westerns, with no production costs, make just as much sense.
