This is not directed at Burton. I think if anyone could capture the bullet points, he's the man. But PLEASE NO. The original is such a highlight. Just thinking about it makes me well up. Pure beauty and emotion. And yeah, the crows. In the context of the original they make sense, despite their rough edges. So what do you do now? write them out? Soften them(in my opinion that is almost as racist as the original depiction is considered). Some things you just cannot make any better. This actually hurts my heart.

Hurm. I found the 'tribute' to be slight at best. No surprise considering the contentious relationship between Groening and Simon. James Gray Bites Into 'Hard Apple' With '70s-Set Animated Crime Series

Variety reports that Gray will executive produce and look over all the creative decisions on "Hard Apple." The animated show is geared towards adults and based on Jerome Charyn’s books that track Isaac Sidel, a fictional a detective who walks through three decades of law enforcement starting in the 1970s.

Tomer and Asaf Hanuka ("Waltz With Bashir") will be on the animation team, the project is set up at Canal Plus, and a director and showrunner are yet to be announced.

Interesting.

Any fans of Gurren Lagann and in particular, the team of Hiroyuki Imaishi and Kazuki Nakashima, go ahead and give Kill La Kill a shot. A story about a girl out for revenge and using half a scissors blade to do so--sounds dubious, but I am half way through and am completely hooked.

love both gurren lagann and kill la kill. i recommend kill la kill as well. first episode is a bit slow but it ramps up quickly.

One we've gotten into here recently is Sword Art Online. Neat premise: Immersive VR MMORPG played via direct nerve connection where players get trapped by the game's maker. If they die in-game, they die in real life.

One we've gotten into here recently is Sword Art Online. Neat premise: Immersive VR MMORPG played via direct nerve connection where players get trapped by the game's maker. If they die in-game, they die in real life.

SAO is one of my favourite animes. I had a small problem with the direction of the 2nd half of the season, but overall, a great show. We just finished SAO II over the weekend. Again, two great story arcs to follow--we are looking forward to a season 3.
As far as the gamer getting caught within the game genre, please give a look to Log Horizon. Basically the same premise as Sword Art, but it goes in a very different direction. I believe season 2 just finished airing in Japan and is available on Crunchyroll.

Lastly, we are giving No Game No Life a try. Just watched the first episode; animation is beautiful and what could be a really good story.
