All Things:Animated

I have heard bits and pieces of a planned sequel (WHY!!!) slated for 2018
Here is a "Fans" Idea of what it should be

Eyes on the road man!

If you check it out let us know how it is

I was waiting for the bus. My car was in the shop today, so I decided to bus over to Universal. They're having a California resident special, which, like the Laika exhibit, seems to go on until 14 August, so it worked out well.

The exhibit itself is somewhat small, but very cool! They should have titled it,"Please, please, please watch Kubo, so we can keep making stuff like this," because that's a bit how it felt, but, hey, I'm cool with that. That is a great sentiment, because the artistry is beautiful. Coraline, Paranorman and Boxtrolls got one room each, but Coraline also spilled out a bit into the corridor leading to it. It's a guided tour, but I didn't hear a lot of what the tour guide said, because I was at the end of the group, and they would tend to not go all the way into the room. It was fine with me to lag behind a little bit, because the tour was a little rushed, and by lagging behind I could get a couple more pictures or closer look at the sets or sculptures.

The pictures in the article are thankfully more plentiful than my own, but I don't know how those managed to come out so crummy. With the setup they have there, I found it pretty hard to not just point my phone quickly and come up with a beautiful shot. The level of details on all of the models is extremely impressive. I don't even think I can adequately describe how impressive. So, hopefully, the exhibit has the desired effect and makes people want to go home and watch the whole Laika oeuvre (and then Kubo when it arrives next week).

It worked on me. I'm certainly more inclined to see Kubo.

The Globe Theater is right across from the Despicable Me ride in case anyone is wondering. The California resident pass special is $110 for the pass ($109 and a $.95 fee) with plenty of blackout dates, but the first visit can be on any date, which is how I got to use it today. I think that represents about a $10 discount, but, hey, I'll take what I can get.

I saw Coraline a bunch of times in the theater. Part of it is that I am a big fan of Neil Gaiman, but then, I am also a fan of stop motion! I am glad that movies are still being made in said stop motion. It seems sooooo tedious and whatnot, but when it's done well, the final product is awesome. :D

And now I want to see Kubo too. Samurai culture for the win! It could've done with more Japanese voice actors in the film, but I digress.
