Watching this now. Not a quarter as funny as the show we saw. The 'i'll have all the ham' joke was horribly flat. The Jim Jeffries ALCOHOLICAUST special was pretty damned funny.
 
GOD BLESS AMERICA Review

I’ll never claim that God Bless America is a masterpiece. The movie is definitely flawed with Bobcat throwing in a few rants to many and admittedly never offering any sort of solution to overcoming dumbed down American culture. He more or less just acknowledges his disgust. However, I applaud the means with which he makes his argument and the extreme places that he allows his imagination to go. Comedy is too often dismissed as merely light entertainment. There’s nothing wrong with that approach, but the genre can also be used as means of examining themes an ideas too uncomfortable to explore dramatically. It would be entirely possible to play this same story and argument straight and I would have no problem dismissing that version of the moive as exploitative and empty. Satire is slightly different though. God Bless America is a thought experiment designed to make you laugh. Think of it as the cinematic equivalent of a Bill Hicks rant about advertising or American culture. Is the subject trivial? In the grand scheme of things, sure. But it’s also about something that takes up so much space in the American landscape that it deserves to be discussed and satirized. Disagreeing with Goldthwait is fine, at least he made you consider his opinion. However, I don’t think the movie should be dismissed or ignored. The ideas are valid and worth the attention. Don’t take it too seriously though. It is a comedy after all, just one that will hopefully stick around in your head for a while after the laughter and/or disgust fades.

Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson & James Franco Added to ‘Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse’ | /Film

Specifically, Rogen told MTV, ?We?ve decided to add more people, so ideally ?Jay and Seth? looks like it has become Jay, Seth, Jonah, Danny, Craig and James,? with the latter four names being Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, and James Franco. Daniel Radcliffe was rumored for the film at one point, but seems like a no-show at this point, with Rogen explaining ?it doesn?t look like he?s willing to push things as far as we [are].?

The refresher course on the film is pretty short: in the original ?trailer,? Jay and Seth are stoner friends who really start to get on one another?s nerves as they take refuge from the end of the world. We?ve heard that the film would be a button-pusher, and Rogen has said in the past,

It?s going to be a pretty offensive vision of the apocalypse. And I want a lot of dead celebrity cameos. Because L.A. is full of famous people, I?d like all of the cameos to be them as corpses.

Watching Futurama last night I was pleased as punch to see that NICK SWARDSON'S PRETEND TIME was coming back for another season. Even if you do not care...t least he will be too busy to make another Bucky Larson.
 
‘Ghostbusters’ Returns to Theaters For Three Nights in October

Sony will put the movie on screens through the month of October, but only on Thursdays, starting October 13. So you might get a chance to see Ivan Reitman‘s original and still truly entertaining film on October 13, October 20 and October 27.

Sony says, “Ghostbusters will show in approximately 500 theatres across the US on October 13th, 20th, and 27th, one showtime each day, in 2K digital with 5.1 surround sound. Please check local listings for showtimes.

50/50 was hilarious and heartbreaking. It was easily the funniest movie I've seen all year. The flick has heart too. It astutely captures what that horse ****, boring as ****, Sandler/Apatow disaster "Funny People" failed miserably at.

"All of the medical students and faculty I talked to after the screening thought it was a wonderful training film, which is unusual for a Hollywood movie. But it really did hit virtually all of the key issues," said Siegel, referring specifically to how the film addresses interpersonal relationships, sexuality, the pain associated with treatment, and losing friends made during chemo sessions, among other topics.

"The only issue Will didn't hit was the financial issue, which I asked Will about," added Siegel. "He told me he had to write his script to pay all his medical debts."
