Russell Crowe to Direct Bill Hicks Biopic | Collider

Probably not going to make Adgy happy. Sorry...I actually think it's forgotten amidst the shenanigans that Crowe is very talented. Not sure as a director, but he does seem to have some passion for the project.

I'm actually ok with this so far. He might be a douche, but he's a good actor and, as far as I know, he doesn't do any commercials or advertisements for products. So he's as good a choice as there is, probably.

We'll see.

Klown Is the Funniest Movie of the Year | CHUD.com

You have to see Klown. You need to see Klown. The Danish import was the funniest movie I saw in 2011, and it is shaping up to be the funniest movie of 2012 too. I haven’t talked with a single person who saw it at Fantastic Fest last year that hasn’t agreed with me. And now, finally, Klown is coming to theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Austin, and VOD everywhere else, on July 27. I like to think that the kind of person who reads CHUD isn’t afraid of subtitles, but I also know I’m wrong. I know you’re lurking out there, and you probably already got a sinking feeling in your stomach when you saw that confusing ‘v’ in the poster above. I know you think subtitles are a chore (cause, hey, sometimes they can be). But if you only suck it up once this year, this is the moment for you. This isn’t some fruity arthouse flick or depressing message film — this is a balls-out riot.

this just in...one week run @ Cinefamily. Adgy, you should make the trip for this'un.

“HANDS DOWN THE FUNNIEST FILM OF THE YEAR...Plays like a superior, and way grosser, version of ‘The Hangover’." — Aaron Hillis, The Village Voice

In a giddy Scandinavian NC-17-flavored take on “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, Klown (based upon the popular long-running TV show of the same name) follows two wildly inappropriate friends (internationaly celebrated comedians Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen) as they run amok through the Danish countryside, plowing through social taboos and unspeakable debaucheries. Our odd-couple pals have opposing agendas for their upcoming camping trip: Frank kidnaps his nephew in a thick-headed attempt to prove his fatherhood potential, while Casper is determined to visit a mysterious world-renowned brothel as the final stop on his “Tour de Pussy.” As these confrontational, consistently unpredictable Dogme-95-meets-the-Farrelly-Brothers plotlines collide, Klown will leave you hurting from nonstop laugh fits, and genuinely shocked by several denouements you’ll never have seen coming. When we had a special one-off screening of Klown a few months ago, it received some of the most prolonged, intense outbursts of audience laughter we’ve EVER clocked; come be a historic part of this genially depraved comedy phenomenon!
Dir Mikkel Norgaard, 2010, 35mm, 89 min.

Review: 'Klown' Flirts With The Darkness That American Grossout Comedies Barely Acknowledge | The Playlist

There’s a chance you got away with bringing your mother or father to one of the bawdy “The Hangover” films, with their boys-club jokes regarding sex, drugs, alcohol and homophobia. You’re probably not going to be able to pull off the same stunt with “Klown,” which takes the formula of upper middle class men behaving badly to increasingly disturbed, disgusting places. Of course, it’s because of the film’s casually profane tone and commitment to pushing the boundaries of taste and acceptability that makes “Klown” a step above “The Hangover,” a lack of fear towards the lawlessness with which those films only flirt.

I really hope I can make it to one of those screenings...

Review: ‘The Watch’ Is A Lifeless Sci-Fi Comedy, With Moments Of Spirited Improv

"The Watch" certainly possesses a lot of energy, but it's never harnassed or focused effectively. As a buddy comedy, all four leads have done better and you already know what those movies are, and this doesn't stand among them. As a sci-fi invasion flick, it's pretty rote and predictable despite a bigger effects budget and scale than we might have expected. Shoddily assembled, and rarely generating the hilarity it should, "The Watch" is a missed opportunity, and a genre mashup the largely fails entertain or thrill. [C-]

Anyone surprised?

The Watch looks terrible. If there was a place to bet real money on the fortunes of movies, I would be putting heavy action on it to flop.

Isn't that website that's like Fantasy Studio Mogul still up and running? BTW, don't bet against the Watch. It will make money despite the reviews.

Script For Broken Lizard’s ‘Super Troopers 2′ Turned In; ‘Beerfest’ Sequel ‘Potfest’ Likely Too | Geeks of Doom

Those who follow the Broken Lizard comedy team have been awaiting word that Super Troopers 2, the sequel to their classic 2001 indie comedy, is officially happening for a long, long time. And will continue to wait.

Last we heard a script for the movie had been completed, but some legal complications had to be sorted out first. Now comes word that said script has been turned in to Fox Searchlight, but said legal complication still needs to be worked out. If it is—and they do seem to think it will eventually be resolved—then the movie is a go.

Details of this legal issue are unknown, though Jay Chandrasekhar and Kevin Heffernan, two Broken Lizard members who were promoting their new (non-Lizard) movie The Babymakers (which is directed by Chandrasekhar, stars Heffernan, and arrives in theaters and on VOD services this Friday, August 3rd—Read our review here!), spoke to ComingSoon and shared an update.

The duo said:

“We’re hoping to make ‘Super Troopers 2′ as a group if we can work out a legal situation with Fox Searchlight. They’re into [it], they like it.

We’ve written a script, we’ve handed it into them, they loved the script.

We have an issue with the first film and the accounting so if that can all be resolved, I think we’ll end up making it.”

Another popular movie from Broken Lizard is 2006′s Beerfest, which isn’t as beloved as Super Troopers but is about as good as drinking with friends movies get. At the end of that movie, a sequel called Potfest was joked about with a Willie Nelson cameo. But fans liked the idea too much to let it remain a joke and voiced their excitement to see it become an actual movie.

Apparently, surprising as it may be, Potfest is also a possibility:

“We’ll also probably make ‘Potfest,’ which was a joke, but then Willie (Nelson) said he would do it, and Snoop Dogg and Cheech (Marin), they both said they would do it and we’re like, ‘We can probably do this.’

You go into the TSA, that’s the number one movie they ask for. I think there may be an audience for that.”

Again, nothing is official yet. But it is looking more and more likely that both Super Troopers 2 and Potfest are a matter of time and patience from fans.

stay away from this'un Doc. I want my ST2 and Potfest!!!!!
