LOS ANGELES, May 31, 2016 – FX Networks has ordered the first season of Legion, the story of a troubled young man who may be more than human, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions. Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Rachel Keller (Fargo), Jean Smart (Fargo), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Jeremie Harris (A Walk Among the Tombstones), Amber Midthunder (Hell or High Water), Katie Aselton (The League) and Bill Irwin (Interstellar) star in Legion. Production on the eight-episode first season will begin this summer in Vancouver and the new series from FX Productions and Marvel Television will debut on FX in early 2017.

“We’ve come to expect excellence from Noah Hawley and with Legion he has delivered another major creative achievement,” said Grad. “Just as he did in reimagining Fargo, he is bringing an entirely new aesthetic and sensibility to the enormously popular and richly represented X-Men world. The pilot episode is stunning, driven by incredible performances from Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart, Rachel Keller and the rest of the cast. We join our producing partners at Marvel in congratulating the creative team for what they’ve accomplished and are as excited as the fans for the premiere of Legion’s first season.”

“Marvel Television is thrilled to not only have our first partnership with FX go to series, but working with the enormously talented Noah Hawley makes it even better,” said Executive Producer Jeph Loeb. “From the first time we heard Noah’s vision to his exceptional script and cast through the extraordinary filming of the pilot, we knew the series would be incredible.”

Legion introduces the story of David Haller: Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

Noah Hawley (Fargo) will serve as an Executive Producer along with Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool), Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse, Superman Returns), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Martian), Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones), Jim Chory (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones) and John Cameron (Fargo, The Big Lebowski). Legion is the latest project from Hawley and Cameron, two of the Executive Producers of the Emmy? and Golden Globe? -winning FX limited series Fargo.

Legion will be produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television, with FXP handling the physical production.

Confused. Limited series...yet it says first season. Later in the article they call Fargo a limited series as well. Did Fx just slip up? Is this in fact, like Fargo, A/H/S, etc where it is a series with a rotating cast/story? You know...the character, and the meaning of the word Legion both fit the profile.
Color me even more interested than I already was.

‘Archer’ Renewed for Three More Seasons at FX
http://collider.com/archer-season-8-renewed/

Rejoice! Archer is not dead yet. While the Season 7 finale of the FX animated series left things in a very precarious position, the tension was also heightened by the fact that FX had yet to actually renew the series. Had that served as the series finale, it would have been both fitting and highly frustrating, but luckily word arrived today that FX has not only renewed Archer for Season 8, but they’ve tacked on Seasons 9 and 10 as well, giving us a nice even number.

“We can’t say enough about what Adam, Matt and the entire Archer team at Floyd County have done to keep this series so insanely funny and vital through seven seasons,” said Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “The move to Los Angeles this past season as private detectives was just the latest twist in Archer’s legendary exploits and the next three seasons will to be just as amazing and unpredictable. We are thrilled to continue making great TV with our friends and colleagues at Floyd County.”

This despite apparently flagging ratings and a lot of articles like this...

'Archer': Spy comedy is broken. Here's how to fix it.

Personally I think Archer is still just as good. Maybe a little less quotable, maybe a little less 'must see'. But I don't think anyone could have kept the kind of thing Archer had going at it's peak for too long. It's not any less...it's just that we are used to it now.

'Archer' picked up for three more seasons, but with a twist

Not all good news sadly...

After further investigation, FX has decided to renew Archer for three more seasons, but the animated spy comedy will be a little different than viewers are used to.

The network announced today that the series has been picked up through Season 10. However, this time around seasons will only last for eight episodes. Previously, the show had been made up of 13 episodes each year except Season 1 and Season 7. Those were both ten episodes each.

The renewal of Archer, which stars H. Jon Benjamin and Aisha Tyler, was far from certain considering the show had been lagging in the ratings. The most recent season saw average viewership drop to 781,000 viewers, a far cry from Season 4, when it averaged 1.38 million viewers.

Season 2 fixed a LOT of the mistakes of season 1. But, this show still has a LOT of room for improvement before it becomes anything more than a 'what else is on' kinda thing.

Kinda odd that the trailer shows all of the characters except for Corey Stoll's 'worst father ever'. Maybe it will get better.
