* Earlier today, FXX ordered a fourth season of the show. This is not a surprise; once it successfully transitioned to the new channel in the eyes of FX management, its fate seems secured for as long as Falk wants to keep making it. Though given the volatility of the characters, YTW doesn't seem built for a long haul, anyway. But in the meantime, let's celebrate Vernon-style with some trash juice and a screening of The Babadook!

This week's Atlanta episode was fantastic. The entire episode is encased within an episode of the "Montague" show, which is a local current events discussion format with a namesake host and Paper Boi is one of the guests (what were they thinking?). The points of view on transgender and race are artfully shifted as things progress. Love the out of the box freshness of Atlanta and the way they are slowly fleshing out all of the characters.

Right? That guy who is transracial was rehearsing being White.

What kind of IPA do you have on tap?

How did you like the last episode of Game of Thrones?

Haha. Reminded of that list going around online about "Things White People Like" that had things like Steely Dan, haha. I brought it up in school once during a small group discussion and my fellow students didn't know what Steely Dan was. I had to teach them about a certain band and a certain, um, toy from a William Burroughs novel. mhihi: :manybeers:

But yeah, Atlanta is trying out a lot of different things and coming up with clever episodes. I am enjoying more that I expected and I was expecting to like it. :good:

Atlanta's Darius is a wild card character who the writers leave open for interpretation but there is something special about him even though at times he seems hopelessly weird and naive. One thing I really enjoy about the series is that each episode completely stands on its own feet apart from past episodes. So far there is no formula of what an Atlanta episode should look like.
Here is a blog that discusses Darius' role in Episode 8 (at the club).

BTW - Invisible car FTW!

The Strain season finale... (spoiler alert)

Finally you think things are going down, and boom we're almost right back where we started... (nuclear bomb aside)

Lol!

So brats! :P

But Hip Hop underground...

But that show was so GOOD!

Im about half a season back, saw that they did an hour long finale

I was worried when I saw that...usually means network is burning episodes, but I read that they ran them back to back as opposed to showing the finale on the holiday weekend. I am pretty sure YTW will be back for season 4. I don't know what the ratings are like, but it's FxX, and the critics have been kind to the show so I would imagine the bar isn't terribly high.
