FX Renews ARCHER for Season 4

LOS ANGELES, February 23, 2012 ? FX has ordered season four of its Emmy? and Annie Award nominated animated series Archer, and FX Productions closed an overall production deal with the series? Executive Producers, Adam Reed and Matt Thompson, and their animation studio, Floyd County Productions, it was jointly announced by Nick Grad, Executive Vice President of Original Programming for FX and Eric Schrier, Executive Vice President, FX Productions and Head of Series Development for FX.

Archer was created by Adam Reed and Floyd County Productions and is executive produced by Reed and Matthew Thompson. The show is produced by FX Productions. Four all new episodes of Archer remain in season three with the season finale slated for Thursday, March 22 at 10:00 PM E/P. Compared to its season two averages, first-run episodes of Archer?s third season are delivering ratings gains of +62% in Adults 18-34 (1.03 million), +44% in Adults 18-49 (1.58 million) and +32% in Total Viewers (2.0 million). Versus season one, Archer has grown +76% in Adults 18-48 and +67% in Adults 18-34. On a weekly basis, season three of Archer is averaging 3.31 million Total Viewers, 2.49 million Adults 18-49 and 1.64 million Adults 18-34.*

In tonight?s episode, ?Bloody Ferlin? (Airs February 23, 10:00 pm e/p), Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) must help Gillette (Adam Reed) save his younger brother Randy (Jack McBrayer) and Randy?s wife ?Janelle? (Paula Malcomson) from a crooked sheriff, ?EZ Ponder? (Michael Rooker), in the backwoods of West Virginia. [Written and voice directed by Adam Reed]

?It was an easy decision to order more Archer,? said Grad. ?Adam, Matt, and our amazing voice cast are delivering one of the funniest and smartest shows on television. It has deservedly grown beyond its initial cult following to become both a critical and ratings success. It is a true asset to the FX comedy roster.?

FX has ordered 13 episodes for the series? fourth season.

Reed said, ?We are insanely excited that FX Productions has committed to a multi-year deal for Archer and Floyd County Productions. They?re fantastic to work with, and we hope to keep making good shows for FX for as long as they?ll have us.?

The overall deal with FX Productions is for two years with an option for an additional two years that will keep Reed and Thompson with FXP for any additional seasons of Archer and any new projects they develop. The overall pact also includes Reed and Thompson?s animation studio, Floyd County Productions, to continue as animators on Archer, along with FX?s second animated comedy series Unsupervised, and any new animated series produced by FX Productions or developed by FX. This is the second overall deal for FXP.?Adam and Matt are incredibly gifted producers and we?re proud to have them and Floyd County under the FX Productions umbrella,? said Schrier. ?Archer has been an incredibly successful title for FXP, from ratings to DVD sales, iTunes, merchandise and even its bestselling book. FX Productions produces the critically acclaimed hit comedy series It?s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, Louie, Archer, Wilfred, and Unsupervised and it co-produces the award winning hit drama series Sons of Anarchy and critically acclaimed hit drama series Justified.

FXP?s first overall deal was with the producers of It?s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day, and their RCG Productions. The first series to go to air under the RCG deal was FX?s Unsupervised from co-creators Rob Rosell, Scott Marder and David Hornsby. RCG?s next project is the comedy pilot Living Loaded for FOX, which was co-created by McElhenney and Rosell inspired by the book of the same title by Dan Dunn.

Archer, an animated, half-hour comedy, revolves around the spy agency known as the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS) and the lives of its employees. Although their work of espionage, reconnaissance missions, wiretapping and undercover surveillances is daunting and enigmatic, every covert operation and global crisis are actually unmitigated occasions for the ISIS staff to undermine, sabotage and betray each other for personal gains and selfish pleasures.

The series features the voice of H. Jon Benjamin as the highly skilled yet incredibly vain master spy ?Sterling Archer,? a role which garnered Benjamin an Emmy? Award nomination for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance in 2010. The ensemble voice cast also includes Aisha Tyler as fellow agent provocateur ?Lana Kane?; Jessica Walter as Sterling?s domineering mother and the rapacious CEO of ISIS, ?Malory Archer?; Chris Parnell as the easily intimidated comptroller of ISIS, ?Cyril Figgis?; Judy Greer as Maloy?s loquacious secretary, ?Cheryl Tunt?; Amber Nash as the discordant director of human resources for ISIS, ?Pam Poovey?; series creator Adam Reed as the gay voice of reason at ISIS, ?Ray Gillette?; Lucky Yates as ISIS?s possibly mad scientist, ?Krieger?; and George Coe as Archer?s elderly and always exploited butler, ?Woodhouse.?

FX Announces Summer Premiere Dates for WILFRED, ANGER MANAGEMENT, LOUIE and STRANGELY UPLIFTING

FX will be television’s comedy destination this summer with the return of two of its acclaimed original series, Louie and Wilfred, the debut of its new late-night original series Strangely Uplifting with Russell Brand, and Anger Management starring Charlie Sheen, all airing Thursday nights beginning June 28.

The series premiere of FX’s acquired comedy Anger Management starring Charlie Sheen kicks off June 28 with the first two episodes airing at 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM E/P. In the following weeks, the series will air first-run episodes Thursdays at 9:30 PM with the previous week’s episode repeated at 9:00 PM. FX has ordered 10 episodes of Anger Management from producers Debmar-Mercury and Lionsgate Television. In Anger Management, Sheen stars as “Charlie,” a non-traditional therapist specializing in anger management. Selma Blair, Shawnee Smith, Daniela Bobadilla, Michael Arden, and Noureen DeWulf co-star. He has a successful private practice, holding sessions with his group of primary patients each week, as well as performing pro bono counseling for an inmate group at a state prison. Prior to his career as a therapist, Charlie was a stalled minor league baseball prospect whose road to the majors was sidetracked by his own struggle with anger issues. After a stint in anger management therapy, he made it to the majors and had one terrific season before his anger issues put him on the shelf for good. In the final game of his career, he tried to snap a bat over his leg, which resulted in a career-ending injury. That injury led him back to school and to his current profession. Charlie thrives on the chaos in his life while still battling his own anger issues. His life is complicated by his relationships with his own therapist/best friend, an ex-wife whose positive outlook but poor choice in men frustrates Charlie, and their 13-year-old daughter who has obsessive-compulsive disorder. Bruce Helford serves as Executive Producer/Showrunner. Joe Roth, Mark Burg, Dave Caplan are Executive Producers.

Season two of the acclaimed hit comedy Wilfred starring Elijah Wood and Jason Gann debuts at 10:00 PM E/P. Academy Award-winning actor/comedian Robin Williams has signed on for a guest-starring role in the season opener.Wilfred is about a young man, “Ryan” (Wood), struggling unsuccessfully to make his way in the world until he forms a unique friendship with “Wilfred” (Gann), his neighbor’s pet dog. Everyone else sees Wilfred as just a dog, but Ryan sees a crude and somewhat surly, yet irrepressibly brave and honest Australian bloke in a cheap dog suit. Series regulars also include Fiona Gubelmann as “Jenna,” Ryan’s beautiful neighbor and Wilfred’s owner, and Dorian Brown as “Kristen,” Ryan’s uptight sister. FX has ordered 13 episodes for season two. Wilfred’s debut season ranks as FX’s most-watched freshman comedy in the network’s history among Total Viewers (2.22 million), Adults 18-49 (1.56 million), and Adults 18-34 (932,000). On a multi-run total basis, Wilfred averaged 3.8 million Total Viewers and 2.66 million in Adults18-49. Wilfred is based on the critically acclaimed Australian series of the same title. It was adapted for FX by David Zuckerman, who also serves as Executive Producer alongside Gann, Rich Frank, Paul Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz of Prospect Park, and Joe Connor and Ken Connor of Renegade. Wilfred is produced by FX Productions.

Season three of the acclaimed and award-winning comedy series Louie, starring actor/comedian Louis C.K., premieres at 10:30 PM E/P. FX has ordered 13 episodes of the series for season three. The critically acclaimed FX original comedy series Louie is filtered through the observational humor of Emmy? Award-winning comedian Louis C.K. From the inventive imagination of Louis C.K., Louie puts a spotlight on C.K.’s everyday ordeals, his quest to find love and his pursuit of humor. Each episode features a scripted story and a mix of his stand-up comedy, which is original material for the series. The single-camera comedy is shot in New York. TIME magazine called Louie the best show on television in 2011. In its second season, the series was honored with an AFI Award as one of the 10 Most Outstanding Television Shows of 2011; received Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series; Television Critics Association Award nominations for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy and Individual Achievement in Comedy and numerous other accolades. Louie’s sophomore season was stronger than ever, posting significant growth over its first season across the board: +36% in Adults 18-49 (1.07 million vs. 781,000), +41% in Adults 18-34 (669,000 vs. 476,000) and +29% in Total Viewers (1.43 vs. 1.11 million). On a multi-run total basis, Louie’s second season averaged 2.61 million Total Viewers and 1.9 million Adults 18-49. Louis C.K. serves as executive producer, writer, director and editor for the series, and M. Blair Breard, Dave Becky and 3 Arts Entertainment are executive producers. The series is produced by FX Productions.

Finally, the series premiere of Strangely Uplifting, FX’s new late-night comedy starring acclaimed actor/comedian Russell Brand, will debut, at 11:00 PM E/P. The series features Brand’s unvarnished, unfiltered take on current events, politics and pop culture. The network has ordered six half-hour installments of the series that will be shot in front of a live audience. The format will draw heavily on Brand’s interaction with that audience. The series is produced by FX Productions in association with Branded Films and Dakota Films. This marks the first television deal for Branded Films. Executive Producers are Russell Brand, Troy Miller and Nik Linnen. Miller also serves as Director of the series. The series was originally scheduled for the spring, but was pushed to the summer due to a film production starring Brand.

Won't be watching anger management, tired of Sheen. I am really looking forward to WILFRED & LOUIE and the Russell Brand show intrigues me.
 
Jessica Lange to be a Big Part of American Horror Story Season 2 | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

There's no doubt about it that Jessica Lange's award-winning performance in "American Horror Story" was a big reason that viewers kept tuning in. She was just priceless, and it only makes sense she take on a bigger role in Season 2.

In an interview with Ryan Murphy, co-creator of the show, Murphy revealed to EW that in Season 2 Lange will be playing an entirely different character and the series will be revolving around her.

“We have designed the second season of 'American Horror Story' completely around her character. Last year Jessica came in with Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott. This will really be the Jessica Lange show so I’m very excited about it. We are designing this amazing new opposite of the Constance character for her. She and I have spoken about different things. She has a lot of ideas and has a lot of input into her character. She told me some things she has always wanted to play as an actress. She’s a great collaborator and a great friend.”

Count us in! Look for Season 2 of "American Horror Story" later this year.

BD Horror News - TV: Another Trio Check Into 'American Horror Story' Institute!

"American Horror Story" co-creator Ryan Murphy announced tonight at PaleyFest that Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe will join Zachary Quinto and Jessica Lange to play completely new characters in the sophomore season of the FX horror anthology series.

Says THR, Season 2 will shift from the creepy Los Angeles haunted mansion to an East Coast "horror institution," with SAG and Golden Globe award winner Jessica Lange (who co-starred as the all-knowing nosy next door neighbor Constance) and Zachary Quinto (who recurred as a ghost trapped in the house) previously confirmed to return.

Peters co-starred as a mass-murderer-turned-ghost stuck in the house Tate Langdon, while Paulson had a more limited run as medium Billie Dean -- who in the penultimate "Birth" episode explained to Violet (Farmiga) that the house had a paramagnetic grip -- like a battery, with negative energy that feeds on trauma and draws things to it. Rabe played Nora Montgomery, one of the original owners of the house at the center of the series.

Season 2 of FX's "American Horror Story," which will likely return in October, will revolve around Lange's new character, with Quito cast as a series regular.

FX Orders Fourth Season of JUSTIFIED

LOS ANGELES, March 6, 2011 – FX has ordered 13 episodes for season four of its Emmy? Award-winning hit drama series Justified, announced Nick Grad, FX Executive Vice President of Original Programming. Six all new episodes remain in season three, airing Tuesdays at 10 PM ET/PT, with the third season finale airing April 10.

“Justified is one of television’s best series and this season has reinforced that excellence,” said Grad. “Graham Yost and his writing team continue to deliver compelling material and richly drawn characters brought to life by the brilliance of Timothy Olyphant and our terrific ensemble cast. Their work is validated by universal acclaim, awards, and ratings that have grown every year. We look forward to many more seasons to come.”

Developed for television by Graham Yost and starring Timothy Olyphant, Justified (TV-MA) is based on the popular Elmore Leonard character “Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens” from his short story Fire in the Hole and some of his other novels.

“There are many reasons all of us on Justified are grateful to get a chance to do another season,” said Yost. “We get to do more work with amazing actors, writers, producers, directors, musicians, editors and a jaw-droppingly talented crew. We get to keep doing a show that appeals to a wide demographic: people in Harlan, retired US Marshals, criminals (we honestly did hear that), and, most happily, our guide, our muse, Elmore Leonard. Through seven weeks, first-run episodes of season 3 of Justified are averaging 4.3 million viewers (+8% vs. season 2) and 2.1 million Adults 18-49 (+8% vs. season 2). The weekly multi-run average viewership for the season 3 is 7.0 million total viewers and 3.4 million Adults 18-49.

Justified airs its eighth episode tonight, titled “Watching the Detectives” (10 PM ET/PT). A shocking murder forces Raylan to confront his past mistakes. Boyd grapples with Harlan’s corrupt sheriff.

The series co-stars Walton Goggins as Raylan’s old nemesis/friend “Boyd Crowder,” Nick Searcy as Givens longtime friend and boss “Chief Deputy Art Mullen,” Jacob Pitts as “Deputy Marshal Tim Gutterson,” Erica Tazel as “Deputy Marshal Rachel Brooks,” Joelle Carter as “Ava Crowder,” and Natalie Zea as Raylan’s ex-wife “Winona Hawkins.” After Margo Martindale won an Emmy Award for her guest-starring role in season two as the evil matriarch “Mags Bennett,” this season brings Neal McDonough as Detroit businessman “Robert Quarles” and Mykelti Williamson as the mysterious “Limehouse” to face off against Raylan Givens.

Yost wrote the pilot and serves as Executive Producer/Writer on the series. Leonard is an Executive Producer on the series along with Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Michael Dinner and Fred Golan, and Olyphant is a Producer. Justified is produced by FX Productions and Sony Pictures Television.

Keri Russell to Star in FX Spy Pilot THE AMERICANS

Keri Russell has agreed to star in the FX period drama pilot The Americans. The project comes from Falling Skies’ Joe Weisberg and Justified showrunner Graham Yost and centers on two KGB spies posing as a married American couple in the suburbs of Washington DC in the 1980s. The drama in the show comes not only from the spy aspect, but also from the fact that the couple has two children who are unaware of their parents’ true identities. Their relationship grows into a passionate and genuine relationship, but they’re constantly tested by the escalation of the Cold War and the “intimate, dangerous and darkly funny relationships they must maintain with a network of spies and informants under their control.” Deadline reports that, following prolonged negotiations, Russell has signed on to play the wife.

This is one of the more promising pilots currently in development, and Russell is an interesting choice for the lead. She came to prominence on the WB drama series Felicity, but took a stab at comedy in Mitch Hurtwitz’s Running Wilde. The latter show didn’t last, but I think The Americans is a smart move for the actress. Now producers turn to casting the husband, a crucial role as the character grows an affinity for America’s values and way of life.

Got caught up on the past 2 episodes of Justified last night...really like the fact that they are constantly changing up the tone and direction of this show. It would have been easy to follow up the excellent season 2 with more of the same linear big bad type story...instead you have multiple 'bad' guys all going in seperate directions, Raylen's good intentions being shaped by those he is fighting against, and, let's face it, dialogue written so well that it almost seems unnatural(nobody can be that macho/cool all the time). Great acting/casting and I honestly just do not know what to expect next. Writers of Dexter...you could learn a few things here. Easily one of the best shows on tv right now.
 
Man oh man...this weeks Justified just continues to show how well written this show is. Really thought they were going to have a hard time topping Margo Martindale's Mountain Mama Menace...and I was concerned when they announced a double big bad(a la Dexter). But they have exceeded last season already and it's only about the halfway mark. I have to say, that scene at the end of this weeks between Raylen and Limehouse...awesome tension just seething. I hope they keep Limehouse for a while, there is a lot of potential there. Raylen is spinning out a little bit too, thanks to the whole Wynona situation. So that will continue to get interesting. Boyd is frigging mesmerizing and Walton Goggins has to win an Emmy at some point. Fx...keep up the good work.

You mean Unsupervised, right? Ummmm, if you do...it's terrible. Unfunny really. Almost unwatchable.

In other Fx news...wow, has the Quarrles character just completely crossed the freaky line on Justified. Wow. Such a great, well-written show, loving this!

Yeah, Unsupervised. Sucks to hear it sucks, but it didn't look funny AT ALL.

And it's actually worse than it looks. Almost like they are trying to make a more realistic Beavis & Butthead...but without the humor. Just 2 poor white trash kids failing at life.

FARGO Series, AMERICAN HORROR STORY Miniseries Emmy

Fans of the 1996 Coen Brothers’ classic Fargo may be interested to know that FX is looking at the property for translation into a TV series. While reports indicate that the talks between the network and MGM Television are in their infancy, MGM is on the lookout for opportunities to turn their extensive list of properties (for example, Teen Wolf) into programs for the small screen. Variety reports that there is no certainty of a deal at this time and it is unclear whether or not the interested parties have a scribe in mind to recreate the Coen Brothers’ black humor that worked well enough to earn them an Oscar the first time around.
