All Things:Fx

Man...the Bridge. Was so obvious what was gonna happen to that horse. Just when I think I have a handle on things they go all musical chairs and characters just act...well, out of character. Enjoying it a lot but between her awkward social tics and the unsavory visions of Mexico, it's not an easy watch.

I was so bummed the mexican cop slept with the widow. I wanted him to be 100% clean on everything as the "good guy", ya know?

Kruger's "what are you doing here, we can't have sex now" line was pretty classic

Yeah, she's a real hoot.

Agree 100% about the Mexi-cop. I was really off put and disappointed in him. But clearly that's what they are aiming for with this show. Almost TOO much so. I get that people do as people do and all that, but at some point, without a true moral compass it gets too cynical and too busy. They are introducing a LOT of elements at the risk of forcing viewers to tune out and pick and choose. Really liking Matthew Lillard. Always thought he was a good actor and he seems to be channeling RDJ from that Zodiac flick. You could do a lot worse.

These posts all seem to tell me one thing: If this show is making anyone uncomfortable, then it is doing it's job and not half-assing anything. This is NOT easy subject matter, and it's a way of life for many, many people just across the border. Unsavory visions of Mexico, good cops who aren't clean after all, no true moral compass... it's called LIFE in Mexico. To portray it any other way wouldn't do any justice to the subject matter or story, and portraying it any other way would be a white-washed LIE. It's MEANT to make you think, to make you uncomfortable, to make you realize how ****ty it all is down there, to face what is happening. IMO, it's also a side effect of the serial killer's point. Why is one white woman worth more than the atrocities that happen to their girls daily? Why does a blind eye get turned to everything going on just across the border? Why does it make us uncomfortable to think about and watch it? I applaud FX for putting this all right in our faces. Though, let's be honest, we all know they're still sugar coating it to some extent. Watch or read the news and that much is clear.

No, I agree with all your points Jo, but it's a question of making it palatable. I do not watch the news because of the miseries that occur everywhere. And I hate to argue this point, but it can get to be too much. Your average viewer may not mind some real world horror but people watch tv to be entertained too. You have to give apple with the stick. And i am not saying this show has gone too far over to the dark side. But it's a fine line. I just suggest that they be careful and give us some moments of humanity amongst the horror.
One thing though...Abe Lincoln/foot washer...I think he is the biggest red herring in the world. He is being set up as the bad guy and I ain't buying it. He's off his tree, but I don't think he has anything to do with anything.

Completely agree. We haven't actually SEEN him kill anyone, though he's clearly complicit.

Pretty happy to see David Meunier show up on The Bridge last night. Even if, you know, it wasn't much.

Cousin Rico was on last nights Bridge too. Or is it Uncle Rico? Havent seen Napoleon Dynamite in a while.

so I'm not exactly sure what is going on, but it seems more and more that Marco Ruiz really isn't the "super good guy" as it first appeared. Between his relationship with the "el rey storage company" and getting the million dollars, to "please don't, I'm family" (the ****) - it seems there are skeletons to arise.

The short back and forth between his and matthew lilly's character in the police truck was really good. Am I to assume what he saw in the dumpster was the rest of Gedman's body?

Based on the previews, I'm looking forward to the 1 on 1 between the killer and kruger.

Billy Bob Thornton to Lead FARGO FX Series; Denis O’Hare and Alexandra Breckenridge Return for AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN

We’ve got some new casting developments regarding FX original programming to attend to today. First up, Billy Bob Thornton has been tapped to lead the network’s upcoming limited series adaptation of the feature film Fargo. Writers/directors Joel and Ethan Cohen are involved as executive producers, and FX has announced that Thornton will play Lorne Malvo, “the rootless, manipulative man who meets a small-town insurance salesman and sets him on a path of destruction.” The 10-episode series will feature a new “true crime” story and new characters, but Thornton’s role is similar to the one Steve Buscemi played in the 1996 Coen brothers film.

Novelist/writer Noah Hawley wrote all 10 episodes of the series, and production is set to begin in Canada this fall in anticipation of a spring premiere on FX.

Hurm.

Because Alexandra Breckenridge, that's why, especially if redhead again! Although, I'm not sure what the question is. Still, the answer is Alexandra Breckenridge.

I was referring to the Fargo bit.

I would never question the casting of Alexandra Breckenridge.
