TCA: FX's 'Fargo' Star Billy Bob Thornton Says TV Replacing Film For Interesting Drama - Deadline.com

Though the network is billing it as a 10-episode event series, series writer/exec producer Hawley said he envisions it as an anthology series, in which each season follows a crime story from the region with new characters and cast — because it would be the “wrong idea to make a Picket Fences, where every week something kooky happens.” Hawley already is at work on a second season. He hopes people eventually will see the Coen brothers’ movie as a really good season of the series.

Producers also announced the February 17 release of a “real country album” as an adjunct to Archer’s introduction of character Cheryl’s (Judy Greer’s) new alter-ego, country singer Cherlene. The album will debut on the same day as the show’s “Danger Zone” episode featuring Kenny Loggins as “bad-boy “K. Log,” a “bastard image of himself.” Greer does not do her own singing on either the album or the show: “I do not have an awesome voice,” she confessed on the panel.

John Landgraf told TV critics this morning. Sons Of Anarchy, he noted, averaged more than 5 million demo viewers in Live +7, but only 2 million who watched live and only 3 million who watched the ads. ?We need to find new opportunities to mitigate those losses,? he warned. FXNow, an ad-supported on demand service offering FX Networks? programming, ?will allow us to begin rebuilding our advertising business,? Landgraf said.

Also critical: stacking rights, he said. Loosely translated: the rights to make available to viewers all current-season episodes of a series on VOD or authenticated streaming. Those stacking rights are ?absolutely vital? he said. ?People have been talking about the promise of TV Everywhere for a long time now? It?s been a jerky-jerky process but I?m confident that the industry has achieved the key breakthrough. I think a year or two from now people will really have access to a lot of content.? He noted ?ownership of content has bailed us out,? in an evolving advertising universe, acknowleding ?It?s a nice thing to have long-tail revenue that undergirds a more volatile thing like advertising sales.?

One critic wondered if carte blanche was ?dangerous.? ?I think it is a little dangerous,? Landgraf agreed. ?That kind of excites me.? He said he does not give all of his showrunners that kind of latitude but ?I don?t think Louie needs my input. He?s (Louis C.K.) fine without it. Some of you love Louie ? some might not. But clearly those shows are somebody?s cup of tea.? Landgraf said he thinks it is more important to ?make it really good for somebody, not pretty good for everybody.?

[TV] "American Horror Story" Season 4 Will Take Place When?! -

“American Horror Story: Coven” is beginning to wrap up its phenomenal season but co-creator Ryan Murphy has already begun plotting and planning his fourth installment of the FX franchise…as well as peppering the final episodes with tiny hints as to next year’s plot.

“It’s set in 1950,” Murphy reveals exclusively to EW. “If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there’s some more clues in that year. It’s a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we’ve done before.”

He also added this insanely huge clue: “Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I’m very excited!”

What we know is that the show will take place post-World War II. Could it be Nazi-themed, again? Maybe it will hark back to season 2 and dive more into Project Paperclip and the alien files?
