All Things:Fx

Wow. A/H/S has been a meandering mess since just before the holiday break. But the finale', while subtle and more of an epilogue really, was actually kind of sweet. Very out of character. Liz Taylor was the best character consistently, and Dennis O'Hare really deserves something for his troubles. So once again, a promising start, some real good character work, dissolving into a hot mess...but at least this time the ending was strangely satisfying. I give the whole thing a B-.

Problem with AHS, it was just waaay too long and off the rails.

Agreed the finale was a nice conclusion. But they could've cut out half the season.

Seems to be the formula. But, for once, the finale' was focused and kinda upbeat. I can forgive all the meandering, as long as the effort was made to have the season end on a very Conclusive note. They have now made the beginning strong...and the end strong...if they can get the part in the middle to be consistent, we might have something. I still love the POTENTIAL of the show.

The Sixth Season Of ‘American Horror Story’ Will Center On Slender Man, And Maybe Star Lady Gaga

Us reports that the AHS writers are already “plotting” their next season, which will debut in the fall and allegedly focus on Slender Man. For those unfamiliar, Slender Man is a cult character/horror meme created on the Something Awful forums back in 2009, a black-suited, frighteningly skinny dude who abducts or otherwise traumatizes children. He’s since popped up in various forms on TV shows, in movies, and, most famously, in dozens of Creepy Pasta stories, stories that allegedly inspired two young girls to stab their best friend in Wisconsin back in 2014.

Sounds like perfect AHS fodder to me: Twisted, disturbing, with the potential to veer sharply and irreparably into the realm of bad taste. The only problem is that Murphy didn’t come up with Slender Man, nor did he come up with the Slender Man-centric script he wants to use. “Someone else wrote the script, and AHS wants to adapt it to fit the show,” says Us‘ “insider.” “They have to buy the rights. Then they’re going to figure out the cast from there.”

By “figure out,” Us Weekly must mean “agree to give more money to Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, et al.” And Lady Gaga, too, if Murphy has his way: “They’re trying really hard to get her back!” adds the source. (Let’s be real: If Murphy actually has his way, the entire season will just be a long, violent sex scene between Lady Gaga and Slender Man that concludes with Gaga licking blood from her fingertips, then diving gracefully off a cliff and landing inside a speeding car driven by the grinning ghost of Alexander McQueen.) For her part, Gaga has yet to comment publicly on whether she’ll return to the show that won her a Golden Globe and a starring role in the best meme of all time.

The more I reflect on Hotel, the more I liked the conclusion. Beginning was terrific, the middle was a boring mess, but they stuck the landing.

What The Shot-For-Shot Remake Of The ‘Magnum P.I.’ Intro Tells Us About ‘Archer’ Season 7
http://uproxx.com/tv/what-the-shot-...num-p-i-intro-tells-us-about-archer-season-7/

Before season five, Thompson told us that the decision to make Archer Vice came from the fact that creator and showrunner Adam Reed was “bored.” Reed was concerned that the stories were becoming repetitive, so they shook things up and turned Mallory’s disbanded agency into a cocaine operation. They lacked the organizational skills of a major cartel, and it didn’t help that Pam was eating and snorting all of the merchandise, but it was certainly fun. Season seven will be another “big departure” for Sterling, in that he will have a new, but familiar boss.

“Everything is so wide open, and Adam just figured out what is the story that he wants to tell,” Thompson explains. “That is what has led us to where we’re at for season seven, which is our gang is picking up, moving to L.A., and opening the Figgis Detective Agency.”

It’s not quite Hawaii, but Los Angeles offers way more in terms of storytelling. Reed always knows where the next season will take us as the current one is ending, with the details usually coming after one of his epic vacations, and season seven simply seemed like the right time for Sterling to fulfill his Thomas Magnum fantasies.

“Adam knew exactly where it was going,” Willis says. “He doesn’t plan out every episode of the season, but he always knows where he wants to start and where he wants to end. As we were ending season six, putting on the sunglasses, we definitely knew where we were going and we also knew what the end of season seven is going to be.”

The obvious question is: Why is it the Figgis Detective Agency? Just as Magnum often had to answer to the by-the-books Higgins, Sterling will be answering to the only man actually qualified to become a private investigator.

“Cyril is the owner and operator, and is the only person who is a licensed detective,” Thompson reveals. “This is because, and this is the actual law, you have to have 2,000 hours of training and field work as a private detective to have your private detective’s license. Unless you have a law degree, and since Cyril has a law degree, he is the only one who can open a private detective agency. Technically, Archer works for Cyril and is accumulating hours toward his own private investigator degree. That obviously creates a lot of new, great tension, which is Cyril being the guy in charge.”
