All Things:Fx

Doesn't feel very inspired. Almost like a parody of previous years. Not holding out a lot of hope. Feel like, once the initial venom is dispersed, this season will go right into their mid season swoon/lack of focus. Hope to be surprised, Allison Pill and Billie Lourd being added to the usual suspects, deserve better.

I predict i will lose interest around the 24th episode..

The show has slowed to a crawl. Him and Creem getting their just rewards barely registered. If it wasn't the last season I would have stopped watching. I was almost rooting for zee German. He was the only one making the show even remotely watchable. The Quinlan backstory was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo predictable and by the numbers.

Absolutely.

And the son's story with his no longer to be girl crush? Geezus.

Oh my god yes. And Rhona Mitra...well, it's always good to see her. But...'you want to come to New York?'

'hell no'...

That was just odd. They really are limping to the finish and I sooooo don't even care anymore.

Good to see it went RIGHT BACK TO THE GRIND

You're the Worst...

sooooooo the best.

Dude, i tried to get into this show but found every character more interesting than ****ty Jimmy and Gretchen. I love Paul and Lindsay. Edgar has depth and all of the rappers are pretty funny especially when they make wes anderson and peaky blinders references. Wondering if you and I are on the same page? Or, what am i missing?

You know...it's funny. Shows like Californiacation/Shameless/Eastbound and Down/etc., where the protagonist(s) are almost entirely incapable of redemption, normally scuzz me out. When people are just selfish and mean, regardless of their charm...I just sort of tune out. Jimmy and Gretchen are prime examples. Yet, over the course of the series they have shown flashes of humanity that I never would have seen had I not just invested in the tremendous supporting cast. Season 3 was groundbreaking in the way they dealt with Gretchen's considerable mental illness. Which, for personal reasons, really just hit that magic spot for me. And Jimmy...well, I see a lot of my surliness and faux sociopathy in him. And I never really saw him as wretched...just British. So, while I agree with your appraisal, I have stuck with it, and it's paid off. Absolute brilliant writing has made this one of my top of the pile shows. Not always easy to watch, the end of season 3 was heartbreaking and it looks like there will be a long road full of more sadness this season. The show is funny AND serious...while being, at times, ridiculous. It shouldn't work...but for me, it just does. If you stopped watching you might want to rethink. But you would have to watch from the beginning because it has taken the evolution of the characters to make me feel this way. You don't usually see that kind of growth on a 1/2 hour sitcom. Like everyone else...I have been through my fair share of nightmare relationships, that no matter how much common sense told me otherwise, I pursued and mourned when they reached their inevitable crash and burn. No other show in recent memory has captured that like You're the Worst.

I hope that helps...

Whoa. Thanks Jd and I get the reason why you relate to the show on a personal level. Kind of in the same boat, my sister loves this show and I have very few things in common with her, I watched it so we can stay connected.

Basically supplied up *ahem* and powered through all of it, so my view point may be foggy and jaded. Season 3 did kick my ass and without being disrespectful to you, it kind of had a little Ross and Rachel nonsense to it. That said going to stick with it, for Paul's sake. Why do I love that nerdy guy? Why? =)

No disrespect taken. I'm the resident OLD guy. Regardless, I NEVER watched Friends, so your comment is lost on me. But if you mean Maddie & David nonsense, then...by miss DiPesto's ghost!!!!!!!, I get your meaning.

Pfft. Don't be like that it is not an age thing, the reference was super girlie. My bad. Ill keep my metaphoric hello kitty sticker collection in check not to upset the heard. :)

It is more the on again, off again Jimmy and Gretchen random relationship obstacles that I'm not loving. Although the more I type about this show the more I'm kind of appreciating it. So, yay!

Highlight for me: the song "new phone who dis?" -is it an oversimplification of modern love/longing? yes, yes it is.

The Strain finale, to quote earlier in the thread, was teh stupid.

After all that the Master could just be lured so freaking easily underground and into a trap when he knew they had a bomb?

The son so casually just had a change of heart?

Geezus lord. Here's to hoping Fett and Dutch made beautiful babies in the future. And Quinlan gets a spinoff show on Netflix with better writers.

I disagree. It was fantastic.*
