All Things:HBO/CINEMAX

The Leftovers, to me, seems like it should be a short series at best. Of course I'll watch it, but I'm convinced it'll get old fast.

No, it should be good for a while till the lack of concrete explanations just frustrates and HBO goes all Deadwood/Carnivale' and fails to renew as soon as they start filling you in. The title is a little lame, like it should be some movie about the last kids picked for a _____ team, so no arguments there. Surprising amount of, what appears to be sexual content, considering, and forgive me if I am mistaken, the books this is based on are on the subtle Christian fiction side***. I would tune in, at least for a while...I think it may be worth your time.

***sorry, was thinking of the Left Behind series.(edit)
I fully plan on watching...and hopefully I end up pleasantly surprised. For some reason Lindeloff just seems like he's projecting as the M. Night of Exec Producers.

Well, no 2 ways around it. True Blood is gawdawful. Almost spectacularly so. I...just...don't...care about anyone on this show and I would like them all to die. Eric has the hiv(errrrrr VampC or whatever), Jason is finally gonna go bawls deep, what is it with vampires where they ALWAYS have to be gay? And Anna Paquin couldn't act on a telenovella. Just horrible. Come back Dexter, all is forgiven. TB is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy worse.

Leftovers. First of all, the animal violence, sorry, but it almost turned me away. Kill all the people you want, but a dog gets headshot and I am halfway to the door. Yes, I know it's fake, just don't care to see. Ok, that being said, this show is gonna be good. Not sure if it is a mini-series(which I have read), but I hope it is, because this should have a finite number of episodes. The performances across the board are terrific. The one thing that really sold it was the music. Man, heavy heavy stuff. And that may turn some folks away. Looks like it will be terribly bleak...with very little to offer otherwise. I think a lot of people will give up on this because people tend to have a tolerance for how much suffering they can witness. This show seems to have bountiful amounts with a lot more to come. To be honest, I care very little about what happened to the what? 4% of the population that got vanished. In life you rarely get answers, but as with LOST, a lot of people need concrete reveals...so once again, if you think this isn't for you, you may want to jump off now. This and Rectify are two of the more fascinating shows about loss and grief that I have ever seen. I hope this show can expand on the promise of the pilot.

so far cancelling HBO hasn't made me miss True Blood yet. Sounds about right

Oh, I forgot to mention Tara on the cross with an albino boa constrictor wrapped around her, muttering in tongues while the 'actress' who plays her mother makes Nic Cage on a bender, at his absolute zenith of overacting, seem like a piker. This show is a giant F U to anyone who ever had any feelings towards it.

I don't even know what's going on with True Blood, but I've invested so much time watching it that now I feel like I have to stick it out. Which is exactly how I felt about Dexter. BUT WHY YOU GOTTA DO ERIC LIKE THAT, WRITERS?! him and Pam are the only characters I sort of care about at this point.

that opening sex scene was literally the only enjoyable thing about that episode (sorry dudes)

Yeah, I made sure my blinds were closed during that...cause I didn't want my neighbors thinking I was watching gay porn. Which probably has better writing than this stoopid show. I actually wouldn't want my neighbors seeing me watching True Blood now that I think about it.

I'm sure there was a spoiler on there. I'm not sure I care

Really, none of yez got ANYTHING to say about the Leftovers????

Finally watched it last night. It was great! And confusing as ****! I'd like to know why his wife was there, and why the other lady showed up at their doorstep at the end.

Survivors guilt I would have to imagine. There is definitely some HUGE backstory to fill in in regards to Liv Tyler's character. And I kinda figgered that was the cop's wife when people said stuff to his daughter like 'since your mom went away'. That whole family is destroyed. The plotline with the 'saviour' guy and the cop's son bears watching too. Glad you liked it.

OH! I also FINALLY got a chance to watch the first episode of True Detective. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McCanaughey and fantastic together!

I know my weekly rant on True Blood is as predictable as the writing/quality of the show, but I have to vent and it's cheaper than therapy, so...

Just gawdawful. All guilty parties should have their writers guild/sag credits removed. Never has a show had so much happening and yet been so inert. Just spinning wheels. And just when they show hints of maaaaaaaaybe being able to wring some drama out of a love triangle, boom...right between the eyes. Literally. What the hell happened to this show.

To cleanse the palate...Leftovers continues to be a very good, very bleak watch. I hope this is limited because I don't think the ratings are what HBO wanted to see. GREAT to see Scott Glenn pop in for a nice little part. It would appear that they are going to address the event and the reasons behind it...at least in hints and teases. Still not a fan of the dog killing, but I guess it's an integral part of the story. Still nobody besides me and Ecktore commenting...are you guys not watching or just don't have anything to say?

EDIT: Leftovers music/score needs to be commended again. On a show where a large percentage of the cast doesn't speak, or speaks only in mono syllables, a score that might be overwhelming otherwise, becomes crucial to building drama. Long silences on a show of this pace and temperment would be deadly. Heavy and subtle at the same time...deserves a co-starring credit.

I can't wait for True Blood to end. Eric is finally back but had nothing to do besides wear a ****ty wig in flashbacks. I'm not surprised by Alcide's death, considering the writers never gave him much to do anyway. *sigh* there goes my eye candy. and we're supposed to sympathize with Sookie when it was her fault? please.

I just hate this season so far. I should have known as soon as they killed Tara offscreen and everyone acted like nothing happened. and I don't even like Tara.

I'm going to hate-watch this to the bitter end.
