Review: 'Tremors' Meets 'The Guard' In Horror-Comedy 'Grabbers' | The Playlist

There are occasional laugh-out-loud moments, for sure, and the winningness of the leads makes the inevitable climactic clinch actually rather affecting, but "Grabbers" could have been so much more than the derivative me-too it turns out to be. Thankfully, the films it derives from are themselves a pretty good time at the movies, so while it might not linger with you very long after you leave the theatre, while you're there at least, it's a likable way to spend 94 minutes, if not quite a blast.

Fool me once...I will wait, as I suggest you all do, for V/H/S 2 to hit Netflix. In the meantime I strongly recommend ABC'S of DEATH.

Conjuring was blahh I went alone at night. and still nothin'.. best part of the film.. openin' quote and movie title. Got me all excited thinkin' of the Exorcist I was disappointed. although, after the movie i met a very creepy toilet that almost ate me.. now THAT was scary!

Come on make people make a good **** my pants scary movie, I guess I'll just have to wait till October for awesome haunted houses and to walk in creepy haunted trails.
on that note.. best haunted houses/ attractions?

Vegass has one of the best haunted houses where they touch you and **** gotta hit it up Frozen Fury weekend!!

Wow...you all must not have seen any old school horror movies. I thought "The Conjuring" was boring, predictable, and a way less psychologically intriguing version of "The Exorcist". I've seen "Scooby Doo" episodes that were scarier. I mean....you knew something was gonna happen with that perfectly creepily shaped tree, didn't you?

YOU!! I like you!! I couldn't agree more!!but that tree was pretty awesome, I was admirin' it...
It seems like year-after-year I get more disappointed with these "horror" movies... although.. I did like Insidious.. )has Patrick Wilson in it) I don't know why.. but I really liked that movie(for the most part), and was the last "big screen" horror film that I liked. so hopefully number 2 is good as well.

Sinister? Thoughts? I thought it was scary, really well made.

I'm waiting till tonight!

I'm actually on a horror binge right now. I watched The Omen a few days ago and decided to watch V/H/S 2 which I've put off for awhile.

I thought Sinister was pretty solid but it's not nearly as intense as The Conjuring. I was even in tears during one part of the latter so I'd say Conjuring is the better of the two.

And to all those interested in V/H/S 2 - it's awesome. The best segment (in my opinion) is the one about an Indonesian cult. It's directed by Gareth Evans, the same guy who made The Raid: Redemption. I hope another installment is in the books.

I agree. I thought The Conjuring was well-made, and I like James Wan's style, but it didn't scare me at all. It's partly my fault for having seen the trailers multiple times and building up my expectations. You think I'd know better by now. Oh well.

I liked Sinister. Way more than I thought I would, at least. Maybe I liked it for the same reason I DIDN'T like The Conjuring as much as I was expecting to, since I wasn't expecting much from Sinister. Who knows?

Sinister was pretty good, but I'm not a huge fan of violence/blood. I had to watch most of it with my hands over my face. I preferred the conjuring because it was more about what you didn't see, which was more than enough to get me

Colour Me Good ARRGGGHHHH!! is a coloring book of scenes from classic horror films. It's in the news today after Tesco shoppers were upset to find it on the UK retailer's Web site where it was being marketed as appropriate for young children, according to The Telegraph. It has since been removed. Amazon has it for $11.
