Stake Land - ShockTillYouDrop.com

While Zombieland played its road trip for laughs, Mickle and Damici treat the end of the world as we know it as a chance to explore the unraveling of the social fabric with great seriousness. The Mulberry Street collaborators present a fractured, leaderless America stricken by chaos and on the verge of collapse. Communities band together to fight off a known enemy, but are often powerless against their own kind who seek to exploit the situation for their own gain. One truly harrowing moment, which finds Mickle and Damici at their most wickedly inventive, involves the Brotherhood asserting its dominance by attacking a small town using vampires as their weapons. Among the many depictions of the evil that men can do, it is the most disturbing.

Don't, though, mistake Stake Land for a vicious assault on organized religion. Far from it. Mickle and Damici introduce Sister as counterpoint to the cruel, misguided zealot that is Jebedia. Sister represents faith at its most capable and compassionate; Jebedia puts a human face on the extremists at home and abroad that threaten our way of life. Stake Land seizes on our post-9/11 fears, without being exploitative, to depict a world in which terror has won out.

For all its social concerns, Stake Land doesn't forget or neglect the root source of the world's seemingly imminent demise. There are just as many encounters with the vampires as there are with the Brotherhood. And it's a blast to watch Damici and Paolo make like Blade?who knew the Gossip Girl costar had that in him? Mickle and Damici also aren't afraid to get down and dirty: they open Stake Land with a vampire bleeding dry a baby. It's a declaration of intent that anything goes. Indeed, they admirably stick to their principles all the way through to the final man-versus-vamp showdown.

BD Horror News - The ENTIRE Plot, Along With a New Poster for 'Dracula 3D'

DEFINITE SPOILERS

"The tale begins with Jonathan Harker, journeying by train and carriage from England to Count Dracula's crumbling, remote castle situated in the Carpathian Mountains on the border of Transylvania. The purpose of his mission is to catalogue the big library of Dracula. At first enticed by Dracula's gracious manner, Harker soon discovers that he has become a prisoner in the castle. He also begins to see disquieting facets of Dracula's nocturnal life. One night while searching for a way out of the castle, and against Dracula's strict admonition not to venture outside his room at night, Harker falls under the spell of three wanton female vampires, the Brides of Dracula. He is saved at the last second by the Count, because he wants to keep Harker alive. Harker barely escapes from the castle with his life. Soon Dracula is tracking Harker's devoted fianc?e, Wilhelmina "Mina" Murray, and her friend, Lucy Westenra. There is a notable encounter between Dracula and Renfield, an insane man who means to consume insects, spiders, birds, and other creatures ? in ascending order of size ? in order to absorb their "life force". Renfield acts as a motion sensor, detecting Dracula's proximity and supplying clues accordingly.

Lucy begins to waste away suspiciously. All her suitors fret, and Seward calls in his old teacher, Professor Abraham Van Helsing from Amsterdam. Van Helsing immediately determines the cause of Lucy's condition but refuses to disclose it, knowing that Seward's faith in him will be shaken if he starts to speak of vampires. Van Helsing tries multiple blood transfusions, but they are clearly losing ground. On a night when Van Helsing must return to Amsterdam, Lucy and her mother are attacked by a wolf. Mrs Westenra, who has a heart condition, dies of fright, and Lucy apparently dies soon after. Lucy is buried, but soon afterward the newspapers report children being stalked in the night by a "bloofer lady". Van Helsing knows that this means Lucy has become a vampire. The suitors and Van Helsing track her down, and after a disturbing confrontation between her vampiric self and Arthur, they stake her heart, behead her, and fill her mouth with garlic.

Around the same time, Jonathan Harker arrives home from recuperation in Budapest; he and Mina also join the coalition, who turn their attentions to dealing with Dracula. After Dracula learns of Van Helsing and the others' plot against him, he takes revenge by visiting?and biting? Mina at least three times. Dracula also feeds Mina his blood, creating a spiritual bond between them to control her. The only way to forestall this is to kill Dracula first. Mina slowly succumbs to the blood of the vampire that flows through her veins, switching back and forth from a state of consciousness to a state of semi-trance during which she is telepathically connected with Dracula. It is this connection that they start to use to deduce Dracula's movements. It is only possible to detect Dracula's surroundings when Mina is put under hypnosis by Van Helsing. This ability gradually gets weaker as the group make their way to Dracula's castle. Dracula flees back to his castle in Transylvania, followed by Van Helsing's group, who manage to track him down just before sundown and destroy him by shearing "through the throat" with a knife and stabbing him in the heart also with a knife. Dracula crumbles to dust, his spell is lifted and Mina is freed from the marks. Quincey Morris is killed in the final battle, stabbed by Gypsies who had been charged with returning Dracula to his castle; the survivors return to England."

Promo Trailer for Frankenstein's Army - ShockTillYouDrop.com

Richard Raaphorst has revealed a promotional piece for his latest effort over at Twitch Film (the editor there is producing in some capacity, I believe). Frankenstein's Army posits the question: What if the journal of Victor Frankenstein fell into Adolf Hitler's hands?

Raaphorst has a distinct fascination for World War II and Nazis. His previous endeavor Worst Case Scenario - which spanned two trailers, but never became a feature film - was about Nazi zombies. The filmmaker is utilizing strong internet buzz to try and generate funds for Frankenstein's Army.

Look up those trailers for Worst Case Scenario. It's too bad he couldn't get the funding because those faux trailers were AWESOME!!!!!!

Another trailer...would someone finance this already! Dude needs to be allowed to make a movie.

BD Horror News - Rutger Hauer Gets Evil in 'The Reverend'

Directed by writer Neil Jones, it was revealed that Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner, Hobo With a Shotgun) will star alongside previously announced Stuart Brennan (Risen), Tamer Hassan (Clash of the Titans), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser, Jack Falls), Emily Booth (Doghouse, Evil Aliens) and Giovanni Lombardo Radice (Cannibal Ferox, The Omen).

"Fresh from seminary school a new Reverend embarks on his first parish. A small, low maintenance Chapel based in the quiet idyllic setting of a quiet country village. While on the surface the village seems to be a peaceful parish, with perfect residents, soon it becomes apparent that something more sinister lurks beneath the fa?ade of a local businessman. On a wet, cold night a mysterious girl visits The Reverend at the chapel. Cold and upset she is welcomed in warmly, soon it becomes apparent that her visit is not for sanctuary but to deliver a message, a message in the form of a deep, bloody bite... Awoken with an unknown, uncontrollable thirst a confused Reverend can find no evidence of the girl from the night before, with nothing but the thirst and memory of the bite, The Reverend embarks on his mandate, to clean up the village and the neighbouring estate, by preaching or feasting."

Great to see Rutger Hauer firmly back doing movies that some folks will actually see.

Tom Six Talks More Human Centipede and the Human Centipad | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

Now that he's officially been parodied by "South Park", all eyes are once again on director Tom Six for his sequel to the cult favorite film The Human Centipede, which has inspired many a fan to give their own spin on the tale. And the head. And the tail. And the head. And the tail.

From an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

"Not many people have seen it," Six says of the sequel. "Only the distributor and the people who worked in post production. They think it?s really crazy. I made this joke about Part 1 being My Little Pony compared to Part 2. People at the distribution company (IFC), at the first screening they had, some people walked away because they couldn?t handle the things they are seeing. But they absolutely love it. They think it?s going to explode because of what?s happening with Part 1 and South Park and stuff. Part 2 is really something else."

"Three films makes a Human Centipede for me," Six continues. "Three can be the combination. What I want to do is make Human Centipede III: Final Sequence. And then I don?t want to make any Human Centipedes again. I?ve a terrific idea for it that?s completely different than 1 and 2 again. I think Part 3 will make Part 2 look like a Disney film."

Look for The Human Centipede: Full Sequence" this fall.

Once again...the commentary track should be punctuated by Adgy's Max Cady like laughter.

while I do not condone Salva's past, like every other ex-something or other, he paid for his crime and thus, until he ****s up again, deserves another chance as much as Vick/etc. I do have a problem supporting someone who has done horrible things, but that is neither here nor there. Most of Hollywood is reprehensible...at some point you have to just step away and judge the results.

Oh HELLS YEAH

Darren Bousman to Take Us to The Barrens | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

Word of yet another exciting new project coming out of Cannes today ... As a Northeasterner, it was impossible to get away from the legend of the Jersey Devil of the Pine Barrens. While a few movies have attempted to capture the story's spookiness, none has really succeeded.

Enter director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV, Repo! The Genetic Opera, Mother's Day, 11-11-11). Him doing a creature feature? We are all over it! Bring on the 13th child! Read on for plot details.

Synopsis
Despite their reluctance, Richard Marlow takes his wife, Cynthia; their young son, Danny; and his teenage daughter, Sadie to the Pine Barrens for a long weekend of camping and family bonding. As they arrive at the Wharton State Forest, a mutilated deer runs out into the road, nearly colliding with the Marlows' car. Later that evening, another bloodied animal falls from a tree. Bad turns to worse when, in the middle of the night, a college boy camping nearby disappears into the woods. Nevertheless, Richard presses the family to hike further into the forest to the spot where he used to camp with his father. He is feverish, and a past wound on his arm appears badly infected, but when it begins to rain, there is no turning back. Richard's sickness soon becomes debilitating; his headaches turn to hallucinations. What's worse, he believes there is something stalking them?something with yellow eyes, pointed horns, and the wings of a bat - THE JERSEY DEVIL. The disfigured bodies of the missing camper and another college boy soon turn up. The Marlows must fight for their lives as the horrifying answer reveals itself in a shocking and tragic conclusion.

The 13th Child was ok, but a full bore examination of the Pine Barrens AND the folklore of the Jersey Devil...well, c'mon...You know I am loving it.evil:

Lightning Entertainment has released the sales art for Kerry Prior's The Revenant, and we must admit it feels amazingly good to see movement on this truly top shelf indie effort! Dig on the eye candy!

There's no distro news on the flick yet, but as soon as Lightning makes the deal you'll be right here in the loop.

Their adventure quickly becomes more complicated and bloody than they expected, however.

The Revenant's director Kerry Prior wrote the original screenplay and produced the film with Liam Finn, and Jacques Thelmaque.

Took a shot on this one at ScreamfestLa a few years back and was hella-pleasantly surprised. This is a tremendous flick that has sat on a shelf for far too long. Dark, funny and just a really smart movie. There is a scene where a vibrator is used for 'communication' purposes that simply needs to be seen. As soon as release info is available I will be shouting it from the rooftops!!!!!!
