All Things HORROR

Disc Spotlight: Fantastic Factory Presents | Film School Rejects

No matter what else Brian Yuzna has done or will do in his career, he’ll forever hold a spot in the horror hall of fame thanks to his involvement on Stuart Gordon’s classic Re-Animator. The film is gory, funny, perverted, and over the top and remains one of the best horror-comedies ever made. Yuzna went on to write and direct several of his own films as well as form a production company in Spain called Fantastic Factory. Nine films were produced under the label from 2000 through 2006, and Arrow Video has packaged four of them together in a box set for your viewing pleasure.

The included movies are Arachnid, Beyond Re-Animator, Faust: Love of the Damned, and Romasanta: The Werewolf Hunt.

Arquette's Glutton Has Found Its Leading Man - ShockTillYouDrop.com

Shock broke the news regarding the plot details surrounding David Arquette's Glutton.

Variety has now learned the film will star Abraham Benrubi. He was a regular on ER, he also appeared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and has a regular stint on Robot Chicken.

I'm told Benrubi will be wearing at least four different fat suits for the role. In the film, he plays a 1200-pound man who is forced out of his bed to save his sister. He can only do so if he "sheds" his excess weight. Click on the aforementioned link for more details.

Tribute Video: Remembering Vincent Price | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

It?s hard to believe that the iconic Vincent Price would have been 100 years old next week (he was born May 27, 1911), and it?s even harder to believe that it?s been almost 18 years since we had to say goodbye to the beloved actor.

This week the Vincentennial Celebration began in Vincent?s hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, and will be running every day through May 28th. The festival is being held to celebrate Vincent?s cinematic achievements as well as his personal passion for the creative arts.

Click the link for a really nice tribute video.

Sorry Orph, sadly the advanced word is that it's pretty weak.

Yeah. Heartbreaking, almost.

Having said that, ever since Drive Angry I consider myself a fan of Amber Heard and will probably give this a shot just for her name and Carpenter's name.

AICN HORROR NEWS: Stephen King's son Joe Hill's TWITTERING FROM THE CIRCUS OF THE DEAD to be adapted into a film by Mandalay!

Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

Looks like a story by Joe Hill (son of Stephen King) has been picked up by Mandalay with Todd Lincoln (THE APPARITION) set to direct. The story, TWITTERING FROM THE CIRCUS OF THE DEAD, is described as ?written entirely as tweets from a teenage girl, follows an American family on a cross country road trip that goes horribly wrong.? The original story was published in THE NEW DEAD, an anthology of zombie stories published earlier this year.

The story is one of the highlights of a really good anthology. Real bottom-dropping-out feeling of dread in the 5 or 6 page(I think) story. Wondering how they are going to go about translating this to a 90 minute flick. Tell ya though, Joe Hill will one day be as good as his old man. He ain't quite there yet...but he's getting there nicely.

This is the second or third article referencing Frankenstein is the new zombies p.o.v. Hey, anything that gets horror projects going works for me. I truly hope GDT eventually gets his shot to make one.

Frankenstein Forever | CHUD.com

Apparently there?s a hot new movie monster in Hollywood, and his name is Frankenstein. According to Deadline, Sam Raimi?s Ghost House Pictures is firing up the laboratory to create The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein, based on the Peter Acrkroyd novel with a script by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright David Auburn. Meanwhile, Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the terrifying Twilight series, is ready to curdle our blood again with the absurdly titled Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein. It?s an adaptation of a novel by Kenneth Oppel and will hopefully have the shiniest Frankenstein monster to date.

Not enough Frankenstein for you? Not to worry, Universal is still actively developing Guillermo Del Toro?s Frankie film, there?s a contemporary take set up at Columbia, and even Slash from Gun?s n? Roses has his finger in the Frankenstein pie with Wake the Dead, which is based on a Steve Niles graphic novel. Expect to be up to your eyeballs in Frankenstein by 2013, provided these projects are all brought to life.

The Rotten Truth: Mid-Year Horror Report Card - ShockTillYouDrop.com

Yet to see most of these(working on it). Funny that The Violent Kind seems to be getting a lot of polar reactions. I have the Blu coming from Amazon, so I will weigh in eventually, but this film is either godawful or wildly different(in a good way). Surprised Red White + Blue isn't on the list...got that one coming too so I will let ya know eventually if it's worth seeing.

Sorry to quote my own ****, but this is just another Frankenstein project to get moving...and I am pretty sure it's not yet time to start an ALL THINGS:FRANKENSTEIN thread just yet.

?Cloverfield? Director Matt Reeves Lines Up ?Frankenstein? Prequel | Geeks of Doom

Actually this is referenced in the above article(without the Matt Reeves attachment). Look, if anyone has the soft emotional touch to make a heartbreaking Frankenstein...well, Reeves pulled rabbits out of his hat with Let Me In, so I automatically care about this.

Matt Reeves, the director behind Cloverfield and the recent Let the Right One In remake, Let Me In, has a few new projects lining up for the future. The latest of said projects to be announced is something of a prequel to Mary Shelley?s classic horror story, Frankenstein, that will be titled This Dark Endeavor.

It tells the story of Victor Frankenstein and his twin brother, Konrad, who are very close and have been all their lives. When Konrad becomes deathly sick, Victor remembers a library he and his brother once explored?and were forbidden to return to by their father?filled with books of remedies and various alchemical concoctions. Victor returns to the library and discovers the ?Elixir of Life,? and sets off to seek the help of an alchemist in finding the ingredients necessary to create the elixir and save his brother?s life.

The movie is based on the Kenneth Oppel book, This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein, which is set to be released this upcoming August 23.
