All Things HORROR

Burke And Hare (2010) Movie Review | BeyondHollywood.com

“Burke and Hare” is funny and dark, and full of the quick, clever humor that you’d expect from two alums of “Spaced”. Pegg is charming and personable as the love struck Burke, and Serkis runs through his scenes with a maniacal glee. Hynes is good, though totally underused here, but Fisher does her thing as the chipper, sexy, aloof thespian. Like I said earlier, you won’t be blown away, but “Burke and Hare” is definitely worth watching, and is far better than most comedies floating around out there these days. Hell, it’s better than “Paul”.

Ready for Another Visitation from the Killer Klowns from Outer Space? | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

HELL YEAH

[nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5atRWVGAsrM&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - ‪The Return of the Killer Klowns from Outer Space in 3D‬‏[/nomedia]

The 1988 cult favorite hit from Charles and Edward Chiodo, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, has a huge and devout fanbase. In fact, it's a wonder that no one has made a sequel (or even a remake) by now. That could very well be about to change though ...

According to fan site Freddy in Space, a sequel is well in the works. The news broke during an interview with Grant Cramer, who played character 'Mike Tobacco' in the film, who stated that, "We have a script and a commitment for all our funding, but the money can't be spent until we have a distribution deal in place so that's where we are – talking to distributors. As soon as that final piece comes into place, we should be pretty much good to go."

Adding in terms of plot, "Well, I don’t want to say too much about the story at this early juncture, but I will say that it is connected to the first movie and my character will be the mentor to the two new young leads that have to try to save the world from the Klowns when they return," Cramer reveals. "They're also trying to save themselves because the bad stuff the Klowns do at first gets blamed on them."

Look, the first one was a skeletal constuct basically to showcase the Chiodo Brothers AMAZING work. And, it is(amazing). John Vernon elevated things as he always did...so there's that. Sadly he isn't around for the sequel but I am so looking forward to this. It has been a long time coming. I hope they go with John Massari's cool ass cheezyfun soundtrack work too.

BREAKING NEWS: Bill Moseley Returns to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D aka Leatherface 3D | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

Some breaking news to add a little startle to your Sunday afternoon. Iconic Texas Chainsaw alumnus Bill Moseley, who created one of the single most crazed villains in horror history in Chop-Top, is getting revved up to return to the franchise that put him on the horror map.

Even cooler? Dread Central has learned he's been cast in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (aka Leatherface 3D) as a character named "Drayton", an obvious nod to actor Jim Siedow, who appeared in the first two films. More on who this character will be, we're hoping for a cook, soon.

Leatherface 3D, directed by John Luessenhop and penned by Debra Sullivan, Adam Marcus and Stephen Susco, with the most recent drafts by Kirsten Elms and Luessenhop, is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper's classic 1974 film. In it we follow the lead character, Heather, who, along with her friends, travels to Texas in order to collect an inheritance. The spin? Said inheritance comes with a cousin who goes by the name of Leatherface. That's right, the character of Heather will now own one of the sickest mass murderers of the 20th century. Not sure how that's all going to play out or even if that is the direction the plot will stay in, but we shall see.

It should also be noted that whoever lands the lead role of "Heather" will be locked in for multiple sequels, along with the town's "Sheriff Hooper" and his trusty sidekicks, "Farnsworth" and "Deputy Carl Hartman."

The film is continuing casting right now for a summer shoot in Shreveport, Louisiana under the title Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. More soon.

Trailer and Artwork Debut: George A. Romero's Deadtime Stories | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

Finally after one hell of a long time, there's some movement on the George A. Romero produced Deadtime Stories. Hungry for a trailer and some artwork? We've got your fix right here!

The goodies come courtesy of the Rotten one over at Shock Till You Drop; hit up the link to see some new stills. Volume One of the direct-to-video anthology series streets on July 12th from Millenium Entertainment (pre-order your copy below), and Volume Two will be in stores this September.

Deadtime Stories features tales from director Michael Fischa, Jeff Monahan, and Matt Walsh and will consist of three 30-minute films:

"On Sabbath Hill" is a ghost story about a professor who is a stickler for student attendance. When his wandering eye causes a female student to kill herself, her ghost continues to come to class.

"Dust" tells the story of a security guard at a laboratory who steals Mars dust to cure his cancer-ridden wife. It works, but with some unintended side effects.

"The Gorge": When Donna accompanies her fiance, Gary, and his best friend, Craig, on a morning caving expedition, she expects a fun hike, a few laughs, and maybe some kisses in the dark. But a sudden cave-in leaves them trapped with no way out. Gary's leg has been crushed, and as the days go by, gangrene sets in. With everyone starving, Craig suggests that when they cut off the leg, maybe they should take just an extra few inches. Will it be enough to feed all of them? And how far will three people go to survive?

What the hell...Romero is like Joe Paterno,he will retire when he dies.

Trick 'r Treat, better known as one of the biggest missed opportunities a studio has ever experienced (seriously, what were you thinking, Warner Bros.?) is a damned fine film that showcases one of the best horror characters to come about in ages.

Knowing this full well, FEARnet and creator Mike Dougherty brought back Sam in April to remind us that we were halfway to Halloween. As you'd expect, the video was a hit with fans, and now lo and behold, there's a new one available to send shivers down our spines. This one celebrates dads around the world. Dig on it below.

First Review: Evidence - One of the Most Psycho Flicks We've Ever Seen! | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

Evidence (2011) | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

Ever since the success of Paranormal Activity, which we discovered before anyone had any clue what it was, the Dread Central offices have been inundated with cin?ma-v?rit? style films. Truth be told, 90% of them suck. But every so often somebody gets it right. This is one of those scenarios.

First off the story is very familiar. A group of friends head out into the woods to make a documentary. When watching the movie, it's nearly impossible at first to refrain from saying to yourself, "Great, another one of these flicks." Brothers and sisters, believe me when I tell you that you have not seen anything like this. It's so very hard to even review Evidence because the last thing we'd ever want to do is spoil the experience for you so let's cover what we can talk about.

The set-up is just fine with likable characters who come across completely natural and believable. You know these people. You connect with them. In a movie like this that's incredibly important. Yet, this is also where the film is at its most bumpy, slightly falling into the standard pitfalls a movie like this has a tendency to drop into. A bit more character development could have gone a long way in solving some nagging relationship questions. Don't worry, though, things are never derailed for long.

In the second act of the film, strange things start going on. Well executed strange things. The kind of instances that will surely send a shudder down your spines. Then it happens. The worm turns. The third act. My god ... the third act.

Where to begin?

We've all seen films that sport a twist ending. Usually once the big reveal comes, we're brought to the conclusion. Not here. Not by a long shot. Things keep twisting and twisting and twisting without mercy. There's not a single moment in the last thirty-five minutes of this movie that you'll be able to peel your eyes away from the screen. Evidence is home to some of the most "Holy ****! What the **** was that?!" filmmaking we have seen in some time. Think you've been there and done that? Think again. There's no way that you could ever see any of the chaos unfolding before you coming. It's nearly impossible.

One of the main complaints that people usually have with cin?ma-v?rit? flicks is that you don't really see anything or that nothing happens. You won't have to worry about that here at all. The horrors of Evidence are thrown at you relentlessly, full throttle, full frontal, with absolutely no holds barred until the very last frame of the incredible end credits sequence.

Evidence is a movie that you'll be talking and thinking about long after the credits roll. The ending is guaranteed to polarize the audience, and there will undoubtedly be a certain contingent of viewers who won't know what to make of it. To us that's just part of this harrowing experience's charm. Forget everything you think that you know and have seen. None of it is applicable here. Take the ride. Let your mind be blown. Just try and catch your breath. Evidence delivers the unexpected like few films do.

Well this little bastard just went straight to the top of my SCREAMFESTLA2011 wish list.

John Carpenter on His Decade Away from Filmmaking, the Problem With Today's Horror, and The Ward | Movieline

I always wondered what goes on at those Masters of Horror dinners…
It’s at the Hamburger Hamlet, and we have these strange visitors — people who aren’t horror but want to be. Oh, it’s fun though. Now, David Cronenberg used to be horror, but now he considers himself an artist, so he’s a little bit above us, which was shocking to me. Because David and I used to be friends in the old days, and now, I don’t know. I’m a little low class for him. It’s really weird. So I quickly made an exit. “I don’t want to bother you. Sorry!” I was like, “Hey David, how you doin’?” Wow, you’re kidding me. You take yourself really seriously.

If that's true, I'm gonna be sad.

His new movie sounds pretty interesting, too.

Stupid question (there aren't any stupid questions, just stupid people) since it might had already been mentioned here, did anybody see Carpenter's The Ward? And if so is it worth watching?

Hahaha! I think Amber Heard is cute though. I can't wait for The Rum Diary!
