Thomas Jane Ready to Wolf Out With The Lycan | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

Thomas Jane is one of the most versatile actors working within the industry today. For years he's been fighting sharks, punishing crooks, and even saving crazed Christians from the monsters in The Mist. Now it's time for him to get a bit long in the tooth!

In an interview with Collider, Jane had the following to say about his upcoming trip to the land of the shape-shifter ... "I?m doing a werewolf movie called, The Lycan, which is a gothic werewolf romance set in the late 1700s. It?s ****in? cool. It?s basically Alien, set in a castle, with werewolves."

Can anyone say, sold?!?! Check out a bit of artwork below from a graphic novel of the same name courtesy of Raw Studios.

After the tragic death of his wife and child, famed American author Joseph Crone travels from the United States to Barcelona, Spain, to reunite with his estranged brother, Samuel, and dying father, Richard. Isolated in a foreign country with only the support of his companion, Sadie, Joseph soon realizes that 11/11/11 is more than just a date; it's a WARNING!

Hurm. Perplexed by this. Like the guy(LIKE) but he is hardly in a position to be giving advice. He got mad love for a movie(House of the Devil) that is a bare bones idea that got love for going retro and having good(albeit stunt/obvious) casting. HOTD is basically Rob Zombie's Halloween flicks with better reviews. I am not hearing spectacular things about InnKeepers either. And his second rule(Don't settle on an idea that isn't worth 2 1/2 years of your life)...once again, HOTD was barely more than a sketch plotwise. Somebody has been reading their press clippings a little too much. How bout you spend a little more time on the plot of your movies.

I agree. When I saw HotD at ScreamFest, he did a Q&A and the dude really seemed to be in love with himself.

I'm not about to write him off completely... he's a new guy, he's got talent and maybe it just got to his head a little, but maybe he ought to hang out with Adam Green for a while.

No doubt. AG comes off as the biggest fanboy in the room and instead of giving advice he actually helps peers get movies made...like Grace. With West there is also the whole fiasco with Cabin Fever 2. He committed to a straight to dvd retread and had his name removed like some sorta Scorcese when the money folks proved to be meddling/controlling(according to him). What do you expect(if this is even true) when you go to work on a cash grab sequel?

OOf the Washingtonians...forgot about that one. UGH. The clown one is worth seeing cause it has William Forsythe.

Hey Orph, which was the one that had Corbin Bernsen as a lawyer, and the main character's very naked wife popping up to kill folks throughout? I remember that one wasn't too shabby.

Right to Die. I didn't think that it was that great, but, um, yeah, nudity! ;)

BD Horror News - Holy Gory Mackerel, BD Selects Acquires 'Macabre'!!!!

The main reason we started Bloody Disgusting Selects was to find quality horror films - new and old - and bring them to you dear readers. Nothing excites me more than being THE site to actually find a way to bring you something nobody else would, which is why I'm beyond excited to reveal that we've acquired U.S. rights to the Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto's ("The Mo Brothers") Indonesian splatterfest Macabre!!

Macabre, also known as "Darah", is off-the-wall violent and has been called the "Indonesian Inside".

Starring Ario Bayu, Julie Estelle, Imelda Therinne, Shareefa Daanish, Arifin Putra, "Two newlyweds, along with 4 of their best friends, interrupt their travels to pick up a troubled girl on an abandoned stretch of roadway. When they return her to her ancestral home, the night turns into a crimson-hell for the 6 friends, who find themselves trapped and hunted down by Dara and her cult-like family of deadly prot?g?s, born and raised to systematically eliminate unsuspecting passerby for one nefarious reason."

McBASTARD'S MAUSOLEUM: DVD Review: Strigoi: The Undead (2009)

strigoi-dvd.jpg

STRIGOI: THE UNDEAD is darkly funny and quirky take on the vampire myth that's unlike anything I can recall in recent memory, it defies expectation with a unique setting and mythology that comes straight from the cradle of vampire lore. It's small town setting is not unlike Stephen King's SALEM'S LOT meets Guillermo Del Toro's CRONOS with a folksy Romanian setting, a definite recommend for those looking for something that's not the usual vampire flick that panders to genre stereotypes, it's a much more thoughtful handling of the genre that will appeal to fans of artier CRONOS and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. The film comes to DVD from Vicious Circle Films om August 2nd and I say give it a watch.

Sounds pretty cool.

Has anybody here seen Cronos? If so what did you think about it.

And yeah, I have seen it. I want the recent Criterion release! :D
