BD Horror News - Bloody Disgusting Selects: Action-Styled Action in Post-Apocalyptic 'Hellacious Acres'!!

I'm super excited to report that we've acquired North American rights to the post-apocalyptic comedy Hellacious Acres: The Case of John Glass for limited theatrical (we'll be going art house with this guy), VOD and DVD release as part of their Bloody Disgusting Selects film series. The pic was first announced here on Bloody this past June and premiered at Fantasia.

Montreal-based director Pat Tremblay wrote, directed and played the titular character in Hellacious along with editing, co-scoring and creating most of the visual effects. Cast includes Navin Pratap, Jamie Abrams, Paula J. Davis, Laurent Lecompte and Francis Dubois.

"The story centers on a man suffering from amnesia who wakes up inside a cryogenic freezer as a robotic voice bombards him with information about World War III."

Inside you'll find what is easily one of my favorite trailers of the year. Get ready for "action-styled action" and a whole lotta walking...

OUTSTANDING. From Hammer films this little creepfest combines Pet Semetary with Wicker man, and just gets it right. A lot of animal violence, so if you're squeamish like me in that regard, it's a little tough. Good stuff, highly recommended!

While it doesn't sound like a fun movie, it clearly sounds morbidly interesting.

Yennie, who appeared as the ?tail-end? of the titular creation in Six?s 2010 much-talked-about film The Human Centipede (First Sequence) and who reprises her role of ?Jenny? in the anticipated sequel (which director Six has promised ?will be the sickest movie of all time?), said of the sophomore effort?s controversial subject matter, ?I didn?t have any issues with it, although I?m really excited for people to see it because when the first one came out, people kept saying, ?It?s not gory enough, and it doesn?t show enough,? and some people even said that it was ?boring,? so with this story it feels more like ?real-life? than anything. In the first film it felt like we were making a movie about something that had happened, and with this it felt like we were making a movie about something that was actually happening. The first film is very medical and clean, and the sequel is dirty, bloody, totally medically inaccurate and crazy!?

Haven't seen the rest of these, but Evil Aliens is a hoot. Best scene with a giant threshing machine ever!!!!
Atomic Circus sounds like checking out too...Jason Flemyng is always good!
 
Stake Land Blu-ray Review

I liked Stake Land a lot more than I thought I would. It takes itself a bit too seriously at times--the near-constant voiceover tends to be superfluous--but it delivers compelling characters, a bleakly believable setting, and no shortage of chest-spearing, vamp-killing action. I'd say it's definitely one of the better horror films of 2010, and worth checking out. Dark Sky's Blu-ray looks gorgeous, sounds great, and comes with several hours of bonus material, so I see no reason not to pick this one up if you're a vampire/zombie/post-apocalyptic film fan.
