Anchor Bay to Cross The Divide | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

From the Press Release
Anchor Bay Films has announced today that on Friday, January 13th, 2012, they will be releasing theatrically the full, unrated director's cut of Xavier Gens’ The Divide in theatres. The version will contain additional footage not seen during its previous screenings at SXSW and Fantasia 2011. Initial markets on January 13th will include New York, Los Angeles, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Denver with additional markets to be announced.

Says Jennifer Roberts, Anchor Bay Film’s SVP of Brand Marketing, “Fans of director Xavier Gens’ Frontier(s) will be pleased to know that once again he has pulled no punches and has delivered a kick-ass film that will set the bar in extreme cinema. We felt strongly that we needed to bring his full vision to the screen and are confident this is the version audiences will want to see.”

In this graphic and violent, post-apocalyptic thriller, nine strangers — all tenants of a New York high-rise apartment — escape a nuclear attack by hiding out in the building’s bunker-like basement. Trapped for days underground with no hope for rescue, and only unspeakable horrors awaiting them on the other side of the bunker door, the group begins to descend into madness, each turning on one another with physical and psycho-sexual torment. As supplies dwindle, and tensions flare, they grow increasingly unhinged by their close quarters and hopelessness. Each act against one another becomes more depraved than the next. While everyone in the bunker allows themselves to be overcome by desperation and lose their humanity, one survivor holds onto a thin chance for escape, even with no promise of salvation on the outside.

The Divide features a large and diverse cast featuring such icons of horror and sci-fi as Lauren German (Hostel Part 2), Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens) and Milo Ventimiglia (NBC’s “Heroes”) as well as Courtney B. Vance (Final Destination 5, The Hunt for Red October), Ashton Holmes (CW’s “Nikita”, A History of Violence) and Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction).

Apologies if this has been mentioned already.

‘Cabin Fever’ Getting Two Prequels Shooting Back-To-Back Next Spring > The Playlist

The Hollywood Reporter has the news that U.S. and Dominican Republic based production company The Indomina Group are set to resurrect the “Cabin Fever” name for two prequels entitled “Cabin Fever: Patient Zero” and “Cabin Fever: Outbreak.” “The Hitcher” remake scribe Jake Wade Wall will be penning the script for the former ‘Patient Zero,’ while the writing pair of Adam and Deborah Marcus will be behind ‘Outbreak,’ with both films expected to shoot back-to-back this spring.

With original “Cabin Fever” production company Hypotenuse Pictures and Indomina Group’s Vice Chairman and CEO Jasbinder Singh Mann pulling production duties, the films will follow the events leading up to the spread of the flesh-eating virus at the beginning of the 2002 original. Set aboard a disastrous cruise through the Caribbean, ‘Patient Zero’ will focus on the survivors of a ship that collides with a research vessel carrying the virus. ‘Outbreak’ appears as if it’ll pick up from there, when a doctor and his family travel to a Caribbean island and come in contact with the virus, they decide to take it upon themselves to try and rid the world of this potentially harmful epidemic.

Eli Roth's name is nowhere to be found.

Calvaire is a pretty healthy slice of f'd up. Its more emotional horror and degradation than actual gore. Martyrs and Inside get mentioned in passing but, at least Martyrs BELONGS on this list. If there is a more soul befouling flick I have yet to see it. It truly needs to be seen, but once you do, it cannot be unseen.

speaking of which, i finished Society last night

kinda reminded me of the witches, but way grosser

thanks for the recommendation!

I think that I have watched Society, but I am unsure.

Speaking of Yuzna, did anybody ever see his Faust movie? Hahaha! It was based on this comic book series that I was too young to have been reading, despite doing just that, but the film looks really bad. Maybe so bad that it's good? ;)

Ok...I read the comics, and they were extremely unadaptable due to overwhelming violence and sex. I thought the movie, while flawed, was as close as it was going to get. The biggest omission...the little musical interludes while the character was lopping heads off. It has Jeffrey Combs and Andrew Divoff so the pedigree is there. If you keep it in perspective it's a nice addition to the Yuzna/Gordon library. Actually kind of under the radar.

In my entire career of posting things, I am almost positive that THIS is the greatest thing I have ever been a part of.

Hmmmm. I am intrigued and will have to watch it one of these days. :good:

Yeah, a more faithful adaptation of said comics would had resulted in a triple X rating, lol! :O

Faust and Cherry Poptart were my intro to adult comics. ;)

AFM 2011: Lightning Media to Distribute The Revenant Stateside | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

Back in May we reported on Lightning Entertainment acquiring the sales rights for Kerry Prior's amazing zombie comedy, The Revenant, and now on the eve of AFM 2011 they've found a distributor ... themselves! We can't blame them for not wanting to let this one go. Read on for the details.

The Revenant will be released by Lightning Media in the U.S., Lightning Entertainment's domestic distribution label, and screen at the American Film Market.

The film tells the story of a soldier (David Anders, from TV’s "24" and "The Vampire Diaries") who is killed in Iraq and then finds himself resurrected as a "revenant," or one who has returned from the dead. He turns to his slacker best friend (Chris Wylde) to help him manage his newfound thirst for blood, and the duo quickly realize that this zombie-fied state is a perfect opportunity to become vigilante crime fighters. Their adventure quickly becomes more complicated and bloody than they expected, however.

The Revenant has garnered incredible reviews and won numerous awards on the international festival circuit, including the Best Director and Audience Awards at Fantastic Fest and Zompire (the Undead Film Festival), and the Audience Award at CineVegas; and has played to packed houses at top festivals like Sitges, the Brussels International Film Fest, and the Fantasia Film Festival.

The Revenant's director Kerry Prior wrote the original screenplay and produced the film with Liam Finn, and Jacques Thelmaque.

This is probably the best flick I have ever seen at ScreamfestLA. It's a travesty that it has taken so long to be released. Think the writer/director has a lot to do with that, he may have been looking for too sweet a deal. Now AFM is doing the honors, wish it was someone a little more high profile. In the end this may be hard to find, but I cannot recommend searching for it highly enough. Smart, funny and pretty tragic.
