BD Horror News - Twisted Pictures Continues On With Wild Bunch

Twisted Pictures, the company behind the Saw series and other genre films, has made an output and distribution deal with Wild Bunch, reports Deadline.

The Paris-based distribution and sales company will acquire and distribute the worldwide rights in all media for Twisted Pictures, the genre label of Mark Burg's Evolution Entertainment. The deal will run for three years, and Twisted Pictures plans to generate up to two films each year, with an emphasis on low budget genre fare featuring new filmmakers.

It's a major step forward for Burg since he bought out co-founder Oren Koules' 50% stake in Evolution last June and named Mike Menchel to run the production/management company as president.

Continental Entertainment Capital principal Benjamin Waisbren structured the transaction with Menchel and Wild Bunch. Menchel, Waisbren will produce the films with Burg.

BD Horror News - Hot Genre Writer Does Polish Of Neil Marshall's 'Hellfest'

Gary Dauberman, who established a reputation for himself as New Line's go-to writer for production work on horror projects (he did revisions on the most recent Final Destination and Nightmare on Elm Street movies), has been brought on to polish CBS Films' Hellfest, TheWrap has learned.

Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers, Doomsday, Centurion) is directing the movie.

According to CBS, "the film is about a Halloween night of fun that turns deadly at America's premiere horror-themed park when an actual costumed serial killer begins slaying patrons who believe it's all part of the show."

CBS is hot on the project, which is hopes to start shooting this summer and turn into a franchise.

Mandate and Ghost House Pictures recently brought Dauberman on to polish Burst, a spec he brought the companies. Meanwhile, his Crawlspace, set up at New Line, is out to directors. New Line has targeted the movie for production this year.

Great stuff. Basically a compendium of all the horror flicks on the docket and a collection of available trailers and release dates. If The Revenant manages to come out this year it automatically goes to the head of my fave films of 2012. Yes, it's that good!
 
BD Horror News - [OMFG] 'Aliens'? Marilyn Manson? 'The Shining'? 'Evil Dead'? What's Next For Halloween Horror Nights?!

Forget Christmas, the best time of year is October, especially for those who live in Orlando, FL or Universal City, CA.

Since the resurrection of Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Studios locations, we've seen mazes based on Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Child's Play, House of 1,000 Corpses, Hostel, The Thing and many, many more. This begs the question: what next? While they've been known to recycle old mazes into (sorta) new ones, Universal is looking to celebrate their 100th anniversary with a bang.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Uni is polling fans to see what they want see come to life in 2012 and beyond. Options include Psycho, Amityville Horror, Aliens, Trick 'r Treat, The Evil Dead, Poltergeist, Paranormal Activity, 28 Days Later, American Werewolf in London, Freddy vs. Jason, The Shining, Hellraiser, "True Blood," "Dexter" and "American Horror Story"!!!

As a result, this year's online poll also included musicians Marilyn Manson, Lady Gaga, Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss and Slipknot and filmmakers John Carpenter, Clive Barker, Wes Craven, Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino as potential maze-making partners.

But it continues: Among the movie titles in the online poll with planned 2012 remakes: Halloween 3D, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, The Lords of Salem and Resident Evil: Retribution.

As much as we love zombie drama, we'd go crazy if we didn't get to laugh at the walking dead now and then. That's why we love stuff like this, the bloody, definitely NSFW trailer for the new Dutch zombie comedy Zombibi. Prepare yourself for green guts, machine guns, badass hottie cops and zombie grannies!

The premise is simple enough. Two friends get in a fight with two other friends at a party, and all four of them go to jail. While they're there, a meteor hits Amsterdam and infects everybody in the Netherlands with a mysterious virus. When they head outside, the first thing they see is a granny on a motorized scooter out to eat their flesh. Enter the hot blond cop who threw them in the slammer to perform a rescue via shotgun blast.

From there it looks like it just spirals into pure, hilarious zombie mayhem. We've got kills by shotgun, machine gun, crossbow and even desktop fan. We've got green (yes, green) blood and guts flying everywhere, tops of heads disintegrating amid a hail of bullets. And of course, a massive explosion to cap it all off.

Check out all the undead awesome for yourself. If the rest of the flick is anything like this trailer, this might be the greatest zombie laughfest since Peter Jackson's Dead Alive.

Doug Bradley to Read Classic Poe Tale on Delamorte's Dungeon of Delights | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

January 19th is not just a memorable date because it was the day former WWE Superstar Bam Bam Bigelow died, it's also the birthdate of Edgar Allan Poe. And, in a blending of historic horror with a modern master, Doug Bradley (famous for his portrayal of Pinhead in eight Hellraiser films) will be reading one of Poe's most beloved works on Delamorte's Dungeon of Delights radio show.

Hosted by Rob Delamorte, the radio show, airing at 11pm EST, will feature Bradley delivering a Poe tale in his own chilling style. And you have a chance to get involved in the action. The Facebook Page for Doug Bradley's Spinechillers (a collection of classic tales read by icons of horror cinema like Robert Englund, Jeffrey Combs and Bradley himself) currently has a poll set up for listeners to vote on which story they would like Bradley to read…The Tell-Tale Heart, The Masque of the Red Death, The Raven or The Oval Portrait. The reading can only be heard here.

Renegade Arts Entertainment , which publishes Bradley's audiobook readings of classic tales, also has a collection of Poe stories coming out as a special audiobook release later in the year, read by Bradley and Robert Englund. Additionally, Bradley's Tell-Tale Heart movie adaptation is coming out soon.

It used to seem like the horror-comedy genre was nearly impossible to perfect. Aside from a few rare standouts like House, Evil Dead 2 and Return of the Living Dead, no one seemed to be able to deftly blend the two genres. Then something happened. I don't know if the stars aligned or if there was a hole in the Vortex Nebula, but somewhere along the line filmmakers started nailing horror-comedies like never before. And now we have a great new one to put alongside popular newer releases like Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland and Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. Gorehounds, I give you Chop.

What is Next for the Director of Pontypool? | Shock Till You Drop

The film that topped my best of 2009 list, Pontypool, made me keep a close on the directing career of Bruce McDonald.
Sadly, he has not done a horror film since that Canadian gem and has dabbled mostly in the world of television, short films and documentaries.

There were talks of a Pontypool 2, but it never came together and probably won't ever come to fruition(CRAPSPACKLE). McDonald's absence from the genre might end, however, as he is awaiting a green light on a new thriller.

According to The Chronicle Herald, he has a $25 million project in the works called Dark Highway.

Nicolas Cage may star and, says the Herald, it's about "a man who is being chased but can’t distinguish between reality and imagination."

FDR rides a “wheelchair of death” to stop the world from werewolves who carry the polio virus, including werewolf versions of Hitler, Mussolini, and Emperor Hirohito.

Yeah, a lot more dicking around. But Ray Wise! That pushes this to the front of the queue (of films about former US presidents fighting monsters).

BD Horror News - [Sundance '12]: 'V/H/S' Filmmaker David Bruckner Talks Emerging Media, 'The Signal, And 'Enter The Void' As An Influence

Writer/Director David Bruckner made a name for himself with 2007's The Signal. Now, as one of the directors of V/H/S - a film that breathes new life into the stagnant found footage genre - he's able to explore his fascination with the sociological repercussions of technological immersion in deeper, more horrific, areas.

I spoke with Bruckner recently about his interest in media, V/H/S, his new short, and what's coming up next for him.

In the film, "When a group of misfits is hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house and acquire a rare VHS tape, they discover more found footage than they bargained for."

How did you get involved with the project?

“I heard through a good friend of mine, Jacob Gentry who worked on The Signal with me, that the producers were looking for filmmakers for a found footage anthology. And that is probably the only kind of anthology right now that I think can work.”

Without giving too much away, what were the visual influences for you short?

"I saw Enter The Void last year. I saw it once and I don't think I need to see it again. There's a filing cabinet in the back of my brain that's got ‘Enter The Void' in it if I want to go there. And I thought found footage, especially POV, was a really exciting idea. You could role play with a central character and literally be forced to be them no matter what kind of situation they got into. I knew that I wanted to do something like that and I quickly threw them a treatment of what I was thinking.”

The Signal was a solid flick...did not know he did that one. Definitely on the 'watch' list

The beauty of Kill List is that it defies convention. Wheatley plays outside the box, outside a lot of boxes in fact, and his refusal to conform makes for a very dark and disturbing night in. With Kill List, he has established himself as a raw and uncompromising filmmaker. The outcome is perhaps predictable once it arrives, but the way that we get there isn’t. Believable characters, excellent performances and occasional graphic violence combine to exhilarating effect in one of the most memorable movies of the year. Its films like this that remind us why we love cinema, films that have the power to stay with you long after the lights go out.

Kill List could be the best British thriller you see all year, and I’m writing this in January. Outstanding.
