Posted a link to this on sequels thread...but here is an embed. Looks like silly fun. Worth it just for Christopher Lloyd.
The Terminator, Aliens, Near Dark, Frailty and Twister star Bill Paxton has been cast in The Colony directed by Jeff Renfroe, as reported by Deadline. Renfroe co-wrote The Colony with Patrick Tarr and Pascal Trottier.
Paxton stars alongside previously announced Laurence Fishburne and Kevin Zegers in the feature "about a small group of survivors living in the aftermath of a future ice age who live underground fighting for their lives in a society that disintegrates into cannibalism and violence."
Production is now underway in Toronto.
Paramount has dominated the last three Octobers with its Paranormal Activity films, and now it looks like the studio will also be taking out a Fun Size insurance policy to guarantee your Halloween dollars.
Look for the flick in theatres on October 26, 2012, to be playing opposite Paranormal Activity 4. Talk about having all your bases covered.
Fun Size stars Thomas Middleditch ("Funny or Die Presents..."), Riki Lindhome (Last House on the Left), Thomas McDonell (Dark Shadows, Prom), Osric Chau (2012), Jackson Nicoll (The Fighter), Johnny Knoxville (Jackass), Ana Gasteyer, Josh Pence, Holmes Osborne, James Pumphrey, Willam Belli, Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, Victoria Justice, Thomas Mann, and Jane Levy and is described as a cross between Superbad and Adventures in Babysitting on Halloween night.
The comedic script, by "Colbert Report" scribe Max Werner, centers on a sarcastic teenage girl (Justice) who is forced to take her little brother trick-or-treating on Halloween, then loses him and must find him before their mother finds out.
On one hand, ATM isn’t a boring film. Clocking in at 81 minutes, it’s well-paced and entertaining – even if it’s provoking unwanted laughter most of the time. Then again, it’s a wasted opportunity that never successfully exploits or explores any number of creepy scenarios that could spring from a late night stop. The most surprising thing here is what IFC saw in this film that made them think it’d be worthy of a release. Save it for a rainy afternoon, if at all.
Movies like Ratline are what makes the independent horror scene so great. Whereas a studio might shy away from an oddball story that blends Nazi occultism and a lesbian love story alongside a crime thriller, writer/director Eric Stanze dives right into all these themes with reckless abandon and delivers a rather solid flick that should manage to keep even the hardened horror fans out there on their toes from start to finish.
Ratline is definitely something beyond your average low-budget exploitation flick. It's a shocking and engaging movie that has Stanze taking some calculated risks as a director and thereby proving that you don't need millions of dollars to tell unique and ambitious stories these days. Sure, there are some hokey performances (with co-stars Haack and Christ being the exception-; both deliver knockout performances in Ratline) and there are a couple of logic flaws in the story, but overall Ratline is the kind of movie that gets me excited for the world of independent horror all over again. The story sneaks up on you and wallops you out of nowhere with a few gut punches, all the while embracing its exploitation roots without using them as an excuse to make a crappy flick (which is a trap a lot of filmmakers fall into).
After seeing Ratline, I would absolutely love to see what kind of madness Stanze - as well as his frequent partners in crime Haack and Christ - can come up with next time around.

In the past few years, popular culture has pitted zombies against increasingly ludicrous foes such as Jane Austen heroine Elizabeth Bennet and Jesse Eisenberg. Next in line for some tongue-in-cheek dueling with the undead: the Boy Scouts of America. And today, Heat Vision brings news that Boy Scouts vs. Zombies will mark the directorial debut of Etan Cohen, long-time King of The Hill scribe and writer of big-screen fare like Tropic Thunder and the forthcoming Men in Black 3. Described as a horror-comedy, the Paramount project will center on a group of boy scouts saving a group of girl scouts from…well, you know. Suggested tagline: “They weren’t prepared for this.” Hit the jump for more.
The original script, from Carrie Evans and Emi Mochizuki, made the 2010 Hollywood Blacklist, which tracks the industry’s best unproduced screenplays. Drop Dead Gorgeous writer Lona Williams has been tapped to do a second draft.
Presumably, in the new version, the leader of the scouts (let’s call him Dick) will spend the first hour and a half of the film agonizing about the morality of risking everyone’s lives to save the girls (who may or may not be infected with zombie germs and cooties), while his best friend Dwayne, who’s just hit puberty, angrily rubs his head a lot and accuses Dick of not having what it takes to protect the troupe; in a shocking twist, Dwayne will then kill kindly but weak fellow scout Clotis to save himself when a mission to retrieve the snacks cooler from their old campsite goes bad. It’s just how zombie stories are told these days.
Sundance hit V/H/S was picked up during the fest by Magnolia Pictures genre label, Magnet Releasing. And they've now set the US release dates for the film. Magnolia's normal VOD-before-theaters model will be in play in V/H/S hits VOD on August 31st 2012 a few weeks before debuting in theaters on October 5th. In the film, "a group of misfits hired to burglarise a house to find a rare VHS tape, only to find more found footage than they wanted to see."
The directors are Adam Wingard (You're Next, A Horrible Way to Die, Pop Skull), Simon Barrett (You're Next, Dead Birds, Read Sands), Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Roost, The Innkeepers), David Bruckner (The Signal), Joe Swanberg (Silver Bullets), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), along with Radio Silence, the YouTube sensations formerly known as Chad, Matt and Rob (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Chad Villella).
When we last heard any news about Adam Rehmeier's The Bunny Game, it had been rejected for home video release by the BBFC who stated, "It is the Board's carefully considered view that to issue a certificate to this work, even if confined to adults, would be inconsistent with the Board’s Guidelines, would risk potential harm within the terms of the Video Recordings Act, and would accordingly be unacceptable to the public."
Rehmeier responded to Bloody Disgusting at the time stating: "I think 'The Bunny Game' is way less disturbing than 'Pretty Woman'. Somehow it's more socially acceptable to glamorize prostitution under the guise of a rags-to-riches fairy tale where Richard Gere falls in love with the whore by the end of the film." He continues, "Rodleen and I didn't make 'The Bunny Game' to glamorize prostitution. It is far from an erotic film. It is a modern cautionary tale grounded in reality."
The film was eventually released in the UK and will hit the US in July from new distributor Autonomy, who will make the film their first release. Per Screen Daily, "Derek Curl, David Gregory and Lewis Tice’s new distributor aims to release “uncompromising cinema on a worldwide scale” and will handle four films this year, starting with Adam Rehmeier’s torture porn. "'The Bunny Game' is the last word on the torture-porn sub-genre,” Autonomy president Curl said. “I was shocked by its audacity and the raw honesty that it depicted, making me question our collective enjoyment of extreme violence in cinema. At Autonomy Pictures we are not afraid to release such a film, which will undoubtedly inspire heated reaction, because it will allow audiences to make up their own minds."
Bunny Games follows a female prostitute (Rodleen Getsic) who hitches a lift with a truck driver. The truck driver (Jeff Renfro) kidnaps the woman, restrains and forcibly strips her, and proceeds to physically and sexually abuse and humiliate her.
Julian Richards negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers, "“It’s great to see the launch of the new genre label Autonomy Pictures. And I think that the acquisition of Adam Rehmeier’s uber-controversial The Bunny Game is a bold statement of intent."
