The Keep is LONG overdue, but this list should have DeadHeat with Joe Piscopo and Treat Williams on it. That movie is DYING for a shout factory tribute.

It's not as good as Shout Factory blu, but The Keep is currently available on Amazon Prime:

I have yet to see it myself, but... directed by Michael Mann and starring Gabriel Byrne, Ian McKellan and Jurgen Prochnow? It's high on my list.

It's early Mann, so it is VERY dated, none of his usual subtlety. The source material was one of the best Horror books I have ever read...and bears little resemblance to the movie, except for bullet points. Scott Glenn is in it too. Try not to judge it too harshly.

Was this supposed to be in order or something? Cause they stuck Event Horizon in the middle somewhere instead of top 5 like it should be. Speaking of which, Hellraiser III could've made it too.

I'm opposite on Event Horizon. I wouldn't care if it were not on the list at all.

Same page on Hellraiser III, though.

Biggest sin of omission so far seems to be Audition.

Beat me to it, for sure.

Super pleased to see Cure so high up. And The Vanishing, although both of those are really more thriller than horror, I think. But a lot on this list is like that.

Kind of shocked to see that there are people in the world who really like Sleepy Hollow. I mean, #14? Really?

Funny Games should be higher, too.

My lunch-break impressions of jd's 50 from the '90s link:

It's a more interesting list than it seemed at first glance. Quite a few I haven't seen, but I can't claim to be any kind of horror master, either. However, a lot of variety, and I think that's commendable. Whether all the films on the list can truly be considered horror are debatable, especially with the top 2, but I'm willing to let that be.

Some of the films I was maybe surprised (or not), but happy (definitely), to see on the list (again, horror pedigree aside for some): In the Mouth of Madness, Vampires, The Ninth Gate, Lost Highway, Man Bites Dog, The Dark Half, Exorcist III

Despite my dislike of Event Horizon, I understand many really love it. Hence, the only film I would certainly have eradicated from the list is Interview with the Vampire. (Edit: adgy-san sold me on knocking Sleepy Hollow out, too)

Very notable omissions, IMO (listed line by line due to one or two long parenthetical notes):
Audition (IMDB lists the USA release date as 11 June 2000, though, so for the same reason Henry is included, this may have been excluded),
Tetsuo (USA release date in 1992, so same logic),
Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Bride of Chucky (just a personal favorite; really well done IMO)
The Craft
Castle Freak
Village of the Damned (yeah, I know nobody likes this one but me)
a bunch of Godzilla movies, dammit

A few others as food for thought: Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead, Body Bags, Leprechaun, (the aforementioned) Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, Flatliners, It, Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Tales from the Hood, Tales from the Darkside, Thinner, Species

Russell Crowe Says ‘The Mummy’ Will “Seriously Scare the **** Out of You”
http://collider.com/the-mummy-russell-crowe-tom-cruise/

Look...I love the classic Monsters. But attempts to bring them into the modern age have been a fail. I thought The Wolf Man, could have been solid...if they hadn't second guessed themselves to death and ruined it with CGI to the point that Rick Baker finally had enough. They certainly are interested in star power with Depp/Invisible man, Angelina Jolie/Bride, Tom Cruise/The Mummy, and now Crowe as Dr Jeckyl. Now...if they can remember that these are HORROR characters...not action/adventure, maybe they can break through. But it's going to take a LOT of convincing to get the younger kids in the theaters. Maybe, for once, creating a UNIVERSE is actually beneficial. I always think that trying to sell a franchise before a movie is bad business...but maybe that is the kind of united front these characters need. Do wish they could get Guillermo Del Toro to do Frankenstein or Creature like he has always wanted. Could be a huge leg up.

Jesus...SPOILER ALERT

The advance word on this is STRONG. I have long been a fan of Stephen Lang. Seriously overdue that others appreciate this man. Wasn't a fan of Fede' Alvarez' Evil Dead remake...but not because of the direction. High interest in this one.

Well, it is Friday the 13th.
