All Things:NETFLIX

Fawlty Towers is back, bitches!! If you haven't seen it, cancel your plans for today and go watch. NOW!!

I'm one of the few that hates Fawlty Towers...but it wasn't the fault of Basil...Manuel...Polly...the little old ladies nor the Major... It's the lazy old bat giving all the orders and doing none of the work...

After not using Netflix in years and having lots of free time on my hands now, I've signed up for the 1 month free trail and downloaded things Stranger Things to my Android phone.

However the playback is juttery/laggy in their official app and nearly unwatchable. Should I stick to something like my BD player?

A ‘Stranger Things’ Star Issues A Warning About Netflix’s ’13 Reasons Why’
http://uproxx.com/hitfix/stranger-things-13-reasons-why-triggering/

Keep reading about this. YA apparently, but so was Harry Potter. Besides, you show me a young adult, and I'll show you an old child...

?nyway, supposedly real dark. Anyone watch yet?

Seen a couple of episodes of 13 reasons why. Definitely is weird., but that dould be because is comes from a viewpoint where they are showing what happens to those around the person that committed suicide and some of the interactions with her before she committed the act.

On another note, just finished watching the first season of Iron Fist and loved it. Put it right up there with Daredevil.

The new MST3K is awesome! I missed Gypsy, Tom Servo and Crow.

My wife has been watching the 13 Reasons show, cept she keeps falling asleep. So that means I have to watch every episode twice... I'm not sold on it but I'm probably not the target audience. I'd rather be finishing MST3K.

Also my Netflix rec for the week is Cheap Thrills with Pat Healy and Ethan Embrey. It was under Comedy but it feels more like a Ti West movie with some funny stuff.

So, you will have 26 reasons, then?

And Cheap Thrills is a really good movie. I definitely second that recommendation.

Speaking of Cheap Thrills, that led me to Small Crimes, also directed by E.L. (Evan) Katz. The cast is good, too, and, coincidentally, it premieres on Netflix this weekend! It's possible the trailer is already posted in this thread, and I missed, it, but here it is, jut in case (oh, and a Cheap Thrills trailer just for good measure):

EDIT: Yup, the trailer was already posted in this thread by jd!

Here’s Why ‘13 Reasons Why’ Season 2 Is Probably a Bad Idea
http://collider.com/13-reasons-why-season-2/

Interesting article, which has thematic spoilers...and probly some deeper ones too...but the writer went out of his way to discuss without getting too specific. If you have been following the discussion via social media, it's a good read.

I tried to watch the new MST3k and like it...I really did. Part of me was thinking they might have the new guys voicing Servo and Crow do their own takes. And I didn't like the thought. But then I heard the closebutnotquite impersonations...and it's like watching Looney Tunes without Mel Blanc. Or the Muppets in the new movies...it just ain't right. Not a huge Jonah Ray fan either. Like I said, I tried. Maybe it gets better. Maybe the first episode was just rough. I may go in and try some more. But EVERYONE just seemed really fanboy on the whole concept. It smelt funny. Like instead of trying to develop their own pace and chemistry they were all doing fan service to the original. The jokes were nonstop. If you watch an episode of the original...they let things breathe. They let you actually watch the movie at times. This was like a bad drama class doing a show in the barn. lots of noise and very little funny. I admire the effort and I hope it gets better, but really the whole thing made me pine for the old days, when it should have had me celebrating a return of sorts.
