Judging by the trailer I was subjected to a few times, the approach seems to be to rip off Chronicle for 20 minutes, trying to make the story bear some semblance of realism and seriousness, before giving into the inherent campiness and stupidity of the source material.

Well, this is turning into Crow/Highlander/etc as the merry go round development wheel. I like RR. Thought that Predators, which he produced, was better than folks gave it credit for. And John Carpenter is on board as Exec producer...this is about as good as it is going to get. So, if it's gonna happen...

After trading hands through a number of studios and drafts, the project landed at 20th Century Fox in 2015, when they won the rights in a bidding war. The report notes that Fox is hoping to revive and reinvent the franchise in the same mold as they did with Planet of the Apes, which has spawned three critically and commercially successful films since launching in 2011.

If Fox can do with this what they did with Planet of the Apes, I am all for it.
 
Predators was quite the pleasant surprise, but we do not need a remake of Escape From New York or The Crow. Neither can be improved upon. See: Total Recall, Robocop. And the only person who should be allowed to redo Highlander is me.

No Highlander remakes. There can be only one.
 
I know...it's Highlander but instead of swords it's EXTREME stunts. And MMA.


I wouldn't laugh too much...because out there...someone is pitching this.
 
Well, if they remake The Highlander, it can't be worse than Highlander II: The Quickening, right? Right? Highlander II: The Quickening makes Batman V Superman look like Citizen Kane. mhihi: rolleyes:

I got the Chinese Laserdisc of Highlander II. The reels are out of order on the transfer. Doesn't make it worse; might actually be better. :D
