All Things: San Diego Comic-Con

The one's that peaked my nerdiosity so far, have all conflicted with the "bigger" panels. Still have 2 days of scheduling to go, though...

12 more days until Comic-Con!!

Why does he have upturned ice cream cones on his forehead?

I'm really hoping that in the course of 4 days, we can squeeze in at least one super nerdy "true to the original spirit of Comic-Con" panel... :nerd:

Honestly I had my heart set on that Klingon Lifestyles panel. The one on the last day with all the legions of Stormtroopers(really...they take it seriously) reporting in is a perennial too.

.....and we were there.

.....and we teared-up along with him.

.....and we need to start another Subway sandwich campaign to get Chuck back (in some form)!!!

Metallica in Hall H @ 6pm...that's odd. Gonna be lots there for the double whammy of walking dead/thrones...getting in early is gonna be key.

I'm going to have to be really nice to my Hall H "connection" I'll be calling on multiple favors over there now... Friday and Sunday at the minimum.

Also, knowing Metallica it wouldn't surprise me if they play a sneaky gig somewhere in SD that night since all four of them will be there.

Damn... the GODZILLA footage I really wanted to see is showing at 10:45am on Saturday... I'll be working. That sucks.

Looks like this is the panel I'm most interested in that day:

Brothers Sid and Marty Krofft have been producing quality family entertainment for over 40 years. Sid and Marty became household names in the '70s with a series of remarkable programs that featured elaborate sets and fanciful characters. Join Sid and Marty and a surprise guest moderator for this very special event.

omiKev 2013: Kevin Smith Uses His Mouth on You in Hall H
After all the interesting and exciting movie panels are over, Hall H belongs to a middle-aged man who hasn't made a flick in years! It's not Saturday night in Hall H 'til the Fat Lady sings...and that fat lady is the flight-challenged writer/director/podcaster/author/actor Kevin Smith! Ask ComiKev questions about the forthcoming Clerks III, or Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie, or his AMC show Comic Book Men! Watch Kev over-answer while sweating profusely! Get in on a tradition and wrap up a busy Saturday with the Clown Prince of Comic-Con!

Hall H

Magic time...The Chuck panel may be gone but the big man lives on.The Mayor of Comi-con(as he pronounces it) and the 'state of the union'. For me and Kingsqueen this is an essential and if you have never been...you should go.

11 more days until Comic-Con!!

Oh dear....

*EDIT* (JD, I do believe we've seen them walking around over the years. And that looks like the sails pavillion, which is where I think I saw them either last year or the year before) lol.

Can't decide what exclusives to get anymore..Prices are dropping on ebay.
I do however really want that 24k Gold plated Power Rangers Morpher from Bandai. But no price has been announced, yet on ebay it's going for $300+ :o

Comic-Con Update
July 7, 2013

We can't just TALK about the film when we are in San Diego... we want to play too! Following our chat in Hall H at Comic-Con, we'll be heading out to a super-secret spot to have some fun and hit the stage.

Comic-Con attendees will have a chance to win tickets at the Hall H event and Met Club members should keep their eyes peeled here for more details about chances to win tickets too.

Stay tuned!

Hate to bring the room down but if you look at the lineup it isn't the strongest one by a long shot. The movies being pimped are a LOT of young adult dreck. No Hobbit, Star Wars...the studios have realized that it may not translate into box office money to come to SDCC and with Disney owning everything they are going to hold their big stuff for the Disney Con. Maybe SDCC has peaked and the people who complain about the bloated size of it and the turning away from it's real purpose will get their wishes. Look, half the Hall H programming is TV. Maybe that's because TV has gotten better than movies...but I don't think so.

It does seem "softer" but I'm ok with that. If it means we can get into Hall H without having to worry about seven hour waits, I can't say I'd be too upset. :)

Besides, some of the best things I've gotten out of SDCC have been the things no one cared about anyway. Elysium panel was cool. Loved the Battle: Los Angeles one too. I won't even get into the awesomeness of Archer and how that panel went last year.

Oh I agree. I just thought it was worth pointing out. Me and KQ were doing our greatest hits moments last night and very few of them occurred on the more traveled paths. BTW you shoulda hung in for the MST3K ooops Rifftrax panel last year. Lotsa larfs.

9 more days until Comic-Con!!!

(for JD) Lobo costume fail... Heh.

JD & KQ, if you happen to go by Terry Moore's table during your time at Con, I would be willing to pay you back if you picked up his new sketchbook for me. Not sure how much it'll run, but I expect it might be in the single digits.

:)
