All Things: San Diego Comic-Con

San Diego Comic Con 2012

Just found out I may be able to go to one of the days or get passes to hit up some of the after parties on Saturday night. I am stoked that I might be able to hit up the con floor more so than the panels. Am I wrong for feeling this way? Hello variant covers of the Avengers vs X Men series and see how much my Jim Lee Punisher war journal #1 is worth.

Of course not. It's obvious, but the con is different things for different folks. If that's what you enjoy/set your sights on...enjoy.

So...I got an email regarding next year. Apparently folks like me who have passes for this year will get a chance to preregister online sometime in August. No word on limits(other than 3 per) but I have to figure this is no guarantee. Anyone has any background info on this...please share.

here's the gist

Remember the days when you could ticket-watch? lol.

Btw, I think 2008 was actually the first year we went, too! :)

Thanks for bursting my bubble. Oh well, I will pass it to my son along with my Wolverine #1 (From the 1980's) and Punisher 2,3,4

I think that was my first years as well.

Even though I was always a "comic book guy" I thought Comicon was only for super-nerds and there was no way I would be caught dead there. You know, I did not live in my moms basement, liked and played sports, actually has sex with a real women ect ect...I totally would not fit in! I mean the guys who go to Comicon are the fat guys with beards who are always in the comic book shop and spend hours arguing about if Superman can really die or such other crap right? Or it is the guy you see in the shop who was the weird loner guy who liked to wear Army jackets in high school. And don't forget the guys who almost live in the comic book shop playing Magic the Gathering. That ain't me!

My brother who is also a normal non-supernerd guy went in 2007 and raved about it. "You have to come next time!"

"No ****ing way! They got to you!" I said, but he was relentless.

So he worked me for months until I said yes. Then the morning of I changed my mind: I DO NOT WANT TO GO DAMMIT!! So I asked Mrs. KP if she would tell my bro that I was not feeling well and just give him the money for the pass while I laid on the couch and tried to look sick when he came. She said not to be a jerk and "stop being a wuss, it is only one day and your brother really wants you to go, so just go."

So I did. As I walked in the scales fell off my eyes! Holy **** it was cool! Ok sure, there are nerds and weirdos there, but there is so much more cool stuff and people.

This year I'm pissed that my pals and I got shut out.

And back to you original point about ticket watch, I believe my brother bought passes two days before it started with no troubles and one of our friends who came with us walked up and bought a day pass that morning. They really ****ed it up this go round.

Whether you're walking around all low-key in your Levi's and a Kings tee, or spazzing out in full Cosplay...Comic-Con welcomes all without judgement (ok, maybe *some* judgement. Heh!). For 4 days (plus preview night!)...it's ok to let your nerd flag fly, people. Own it.... ;)

indeed! I am a believer now, I now enjoy seeing folks in their costumes and get ups.

Like I said, the people I usually roll to the Con with all got shut out this year and we are bummed/pissed about it. Truth be told we did not go the "extra mile" to get passes, there are ways to get in, but it is bending the rules and if you caught you or someone else could get banned.

So the weekend of the Con I will be lounging poolside in Palm Desert with a stiff drink in my hand trying not to think about all the fun you folks are having.
