SAN DIEGO, July 22, 2014 – The Simpsons are taking over San Diego. In anticipation of The Simpsons marathon coming to FXX in August and the new “Simpsons World” digital and online experience launching later this year, FXX and The Simpsons are taking over Bayfront Park in San Diego. The space will hold a giant re-creation of Homer Simpson’s head, “Homer’s Dome,” from Thursday, July 24 through Sunday, July 27 from 10 AM – 6 PM each day. Visitors can enter to watch a projection mapping experience as well as a demo of the “Simpsons World” immersive digital and online environment. In addition to Marge’s Sweet Station, serving free blue cotton candy, and the Kwik-E-Race game, where fans have the chance to win prizes, life-size characters will be on hand for fans to take pictures with and submit to FXX for a chance to be featured on-air during The Simpsons marathon in August.
As part of FXX’s The Simpsons celebration throughout the weekend, fans can also participate in a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS? record attempt for the “most contributions to a painting by numbers.” Visitors who stop by the Bayfront Park area Thursday through Sunday can paint part of the mural for a chance to be part of a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record.
Starting in August, through its landmark deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television, FXX will become the cable network home for all seasons of The Simpsons, excluding seasons airing in their first run on FOX. FX Networks’ app, FXNOW, will be the exclusive non-linear home for all seasons of The Simpsons, excluding seasons airing in their first run on FOX. FXX will get subsequent seasons of The Simpsons as new seasons begin their first run on FOX.
FXX will also launch “Simpsons World” – the ultimate Simpsons digital experience featuring enriched branded content through SimpsonsWorld.com and handheld/connected devices via FXNOW, the authenticated multi-network on-demand video service supporting FX, FXX and FXM – in October. “Simpsons World” will offer a unique and personalized Simpsons experience for both casual and super fans by allowing users to interact with premium content in unprecedented ways. For the first time ever, authenticated FXX viewers will have instant and on-demand access to all 25 seasons of the iconic animated series The Simpsons via the “Simpsons World” site and FXNOW apps for iPhone, iPad, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Android phones and tablets, Smart TVs and additional set-tops devices.

Well. It's on like Comicon. Bittersweet. Simply because it gets harder and harder to get tix and I came very close to missing out this year. Next year...who knows?
But enough whining. As years have passed I have really learned from experience. There will be disappointments, especially where Hall H is concerned. But for every door that closes... If you are going, and you are new...best advice I can give is ALWAYS have a back up plan. And then...another back up plan. Don't sink your whole day into waiting around hoping to get in. Be polite to those around. You never know what a little kindness can get ya. Me and Kq have been the benificiaries of some true kindness from other folks and we have tried to pass it on. Enjoy every sweaty clustered bit of craziness and take in all the sights sounds and smells. Indulge. Have fun. It's something that ANYONE with a little bit o'geek in them should experience at least once. Expect constant updates. I'll try to give you a vicarious p.o.v.

0 Days Left...Comic-Con is NIGH!!!!

All right ramblers, let's get ramblin'... :good:

Just gonna pack a few more things then I'm off to SD! Woo!
Still debating if I should wear my kings jersey to preview night. I'm already taking my Chewbacca backpack so that's gonna generate some more heat.

First official day...

Preview night was a wash. Got a Big Trouble In Little China Comic signed by Eric Powell. But lines everywhere else were ridiculous. Waited in Neca line for 50 minutes before they said cash only. So that was a waste. Back into the fray...

Just saw this comment on FB in regards to the craziness that is ComicCon....just let yourself be carried along. It's like white water river rafting on a current of B.O.

Day two. Great hang with SmytheKing for the morning hours and him and Kingsqueen afternoon and on. As I said, Comicon is full of surprises, and this was a huge huge day of THURSDAY surprises. Adgy, I got your 2000 A.D. shirt but the Funko might be problematic. What used to be the easist booth to navigate simply has become ridiculous with capped lines and 87 exclusives. I will try again.
Got my free SDCC Mad Libs, which was my big target this year. And the Neca end credits Pacific Rim set which was also a good get. SmytheKing found a great artists booth...that was a win. Anyway, after splurging we had a real nice lunch. Even passed on a good panel. One thing learned from the past...sometimes you gotta walk away and just get a time out. Then, into Hall H. Easy walk in. And the Paramount panel. Hey complainers, still think Hollywood stays away. Not this time. The Rock strolled through...that was cool. And then...INTERSTELLAR popped up on the screen(after a cool Hot Tub Time Machine 2 trailer/intro by Clark Duke, a lengthy TMNT panel with an actual speaking joking Megan Fox and another found footage/time travel deal called project almanac or some such) and Matthew McConaughey came out and alrightAlrightalrighted for a few minutes...and surprise surprise Christopher Nolan decided to grace us all. I'll admit, glad I was there. Big news really.
Highlight of the day though...and maybe a Comicon high for me, seriously...fought back tears a wee bit, The BATMAN 1966 panel. Mayor Adam West is the man, seriously. This show meant so much to me for soooo many years. To see the love and care finally bestowed to the BEST Batman, with the BEST cast, and the BEST BATMOBILE...hell of a thing. I will cherish forever. Thank you Comicon.

Alright so this has been my experience so far.

Preview Night
Got there around 4:20pm. Got in line at the disabled services to get my brother his sticker and our badges, we didn't have to go upstairs like everyone else. We lined up at Hall A to get to Bandai. Doors opened for us around 545pm, only to find out it's not first come first serve at bandai, instead it was a surprise ticket line at 7pm. IT GOT CRAZY! NO LIE. People were blocking everything around Bandai, I saw some handicap people waiting against the wall so i stationed my brother next to them and the lady in a electric cart sweet talked the security guard into letting the line start at us, people starting mobbing(became a freaking cluster****, never in my life at a CON have i seen so many individuals in one place I will update this with pics later on). SO, the line starts here sign came out as promised right for us, but people starting shoving behind me and a guy pushed a big somoan man into a women, shoved i mean, dude got pissed off, I yelled at them to chill the **** out. Peace for now...10-15min later....https://twitter.com/Shaddy310/status/492149180136050688/photo/1 I WAS ECSTATIC. MY MAIN GOAL FOR SDCC ACCOMPLISHED.
After that, we went to Hasbro and...nope. ADA line was capped. That was around 7:30? I think, I forgot what we did after that.

Thursday
Woke up and got ready around 7am. BLUE LINE BUS SUCKS...got to CC around 740, went to line up at Hall C doors since we have ADA badge...left my brother and sister in the dust and ran to Hasbro right at 855am, ADA line was capped at the booth so I knew they were going to send us to the wall so before the Hasbro employee finished his sentence I ran to to the wall and waited for my sister and brother. We bought our stuff Magic, TF, Marvel crap from Hasbro. I couldn't buy anything since I was a attendant, but no complaints here I got my Gold Dagger so i'm a happy camper for the rest of the con. After Hasbro we went to Nickolodeon and they had sold out of Ralphs, so we went to NECA and the gentleman gave us our stuff in like 3 minutes, very helpful for ADA attendees. After that we went around..SWAG SWAG, got some sick Lego Comic Books which are 1 set of 3 brands Batman, Star Wars, and TMNT. We went to Ent Earth, were sold out of my the TF and GI JOE my brother wanted so we went to Funko. Again, asked the guy and we went straight in since my brother is ADA, we got what we wanted from Funko; the two Batmans, Spongebob & Plankton set, and I bought myself the Stay Puft vinyl. After that we went back to the hotel, so tired. Brother stayed at the hotel, and I went back and pretty much just went for swag. Got a ton of cool stuff. Oh I saw the duo that calls themselves.. Tenacious D. Was only able to get a quick pic of Jack Black from a few feet away, security was blocking people since it's a ticketed signing, don't know why they do that but whatever. Can't remember what else I did but pretty sure I was just snapping pics and checking out the DC Booth the most. Oh, actually we walked around the back side near the Hilton and dissapointed on how the homer dome wasn't complete. walked around and then Walked back to my hotel cause F the blue line, they skipped us that morning and walking was faster.

Friday..or uhh today
.Got up early around 630. Got to the CC around 7, and lined up at Hall D door. They lagged it on these doors today, I was able to witness the crazyness of LEGO from a far. It was like watching sharks sniffing blood and BAM, swarm for the kill. Exhibitors, and attendees were waiting and right when LEGO announced they were open for the first come first serve of exclusives, people came out of nowhere, like 100 of them. Got in right on at 905am, ran to Hasbro to pick up some things we forgot to get yesterday, there was no line when I got there for ADA, so we bought some cool toys we forgot to get yesterday. After that I went to Nickelodeon and bought the Ralph exclusive my brother needed, then went to check Funko but it was capped and the gold bat-mobile I wanted was gone :( Walked around after that for a bit, and got more swag before heading back to the hotel to drop some stuff off. From there we went to Denny's around 1130 and went back to the CC around 130. I pretty much just went for swag, but I forgot my bag so I was carrying posters and comics, kind of sucked. Went around the gaslamp and petco park. It sucked cause it was hot and I couldn't find where to get that Sonic bag at Nerd HQ. I quit and went walking back to my hotel and have YET to get in the pool or jacuzzi..maybe tomorrow. Got's to wake up at 5am to take my brother to his dialysis nearby, thank goodness they were able to get him one here in SD, instead of having to drive back to LA.
MY MAIN GOAL tomorrow.. The Lego Exclusives: Batman 66' Batmobile set, and the Rocket Raccoon.. I hope the SDCC gods can do me another favor and let me get at least one of those two tomorrow morning.

Ok...I thought I posted this rant the other day but it may have been a fever dream.

Friday @ SDCC shoulda been a harbinger. For the first time, Indigo Ballroom succumbed to the con-curse. Massive line, apparantly due to Dan Harmon's Rick & Morty. Missed Triumph panel(sorry Kq) and, what was apparently the wtf panel of the day for Mike Tyson Murder Mysteries. Got in for most of Robot Chicken/Bob's Burgers/Archer...so, only a minor quibble cause we saw a lot of what we wanted to see. Then a quick walk in to what used to be the de facto closing ceremonies of ComIcon. Kevin Smith. As always, the man knows how to entertain. Great stories, especially about walking onto the ramp of the Millenium Falcon and weeping. I think we all vicariously felt that same feeling simply due to his powers of description. The trailer for Tusk was, of course, reminiscent of Human Centipede, but with it's own very disturbing vibe. Looks very good and it is wonderful to see Smith rediscovering his passion for moviemaking.
AND THEN...
It had been discussed here, but once again, the people in charge presented a possible solution(Hall H wristbands) and in NOT sticking to the rules they outlined, created an even bigger problem than the one they tried to solve. Apparently they stuck to it for Thursday/Friday(no line ups prior to the end of programming in Hall H the prior day), but a mad rush after allowing people to hover and basically...line up, starting in the afternoon hours, ended with someone in an ambulance, and the inevitable kneejerk reaction. So, when we left Hall H on Friday, the line was approaching capacity for Saturday. We decided to wait and see if we got wristbands(we did...only about 100 past us did). Ok, you would think that meant we were in. I mean...6,500 seats so why would anyone pass out more than capacity? Well, they did just that on Friday according to twitter posts. Either that OR they did not enforce the policy as strictly as they should have. Probably both. Anyway, we were unprepared, but shifted so that all could go and at least shower. Made it in, but just barely. Last year, getting in line @ 3am was sufficient. This year, 8:30 the night before. Next year...well I am gonna go line up in May. It simply is ridiculous. And yes, I realize that is a battered to death point. But I saw sooooooo many ambulances(3 on Saturday), leaving the con. It is actually getting dangerous and the people in charge are fighting fire with gasoline. Only a matter of time before someone really gets hurt or someone, who has had no sleep and been herded and yelled at by the security force that replaces information with barking, just snaps. That was the worst part of the Saturday Hall H debacle. NOBODY knew anything. No infrastructure existed to inform the tired huddled masses of any details. It was radio silence. We all huddled around cell phones for Twitter updates of questionable veracity from the other linees. Now, for the best of what SDCC offers, I met some great folks who I shared lots of laughs with. For the most part, the cameraderie of fellow sufferers was truly inspiring. That has always been my fave part of the con. I know Kingsqueen is reading this and rolling eyes, but as a cynical, barely social person...it gives hope. Anyway, it'll bet worse before it gets better and if I can...I will be there next year just to watch the steady decline and share even more nerd bonding.
Once we got into Hall H, I was so tired and wrung out, that when the Batman/Supes, Mad Max stuff hit I was actually overwhelmed for a minute. Was it worth it? I don't know. Marvel, who usually owns Hall H, phoned it in, so that put a serious damper on things. But I did see some cool moments so...a push?
Yesterday was a mere formality. Packed up, last Sons panel(Kurt Sutter had a truly genuine moment of emotion that will be hard to forget) and Dr D helped us to see a Zorro/Django comic book panel(yep, an actual comic book panel based on a movie finished the con...irony?), wherein Matt F'n Wagner and Quentin Tarentino took turns interrupting each other.
4-ish hour roadtrip later...it was over. Thanks to Kq, SmytheKing, Doc 'structo and so many others for being part of the madness. Good times, generated more by the company than the event, made it all worthwhile. Gonna take me a year to recover.

Paris Barclay(basically his second in command) had some really nice things to say after a few others started the bawl rolling...and Sutter, who said he dealt with things by denial, seemed to actually realize and be hit with the fact that the show was ending and the family was gonna be scattered with it. He was shaking and had a really tough time talking. It was genuine and honestly very moving.
