All Things: San Diego Comic-Con

How Kevin Smith Felt When The Whole Star Wars Crowd Walked Out Of Hall H
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/How-...-Star-Wars-Crowd-Walked-Out-Hall-H-72574.html

Here’s what happened in a nutshell, in case you have been offline for the past few days. Kevin Smith was set to follow the Star Wars panel in Hall H. Only, J.J. Abrams concluded his panel by inviting THE ENTIRE HALL to a free Star Wars concert… and basically everyone in the room got up and left, leaving Smith dumbfounded. Up to that point, however, Smith – a rabid Star Wars fan – was having the time of his life. Then, it all went sour, which is why he made this incredible analogy on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast:
A bunch of Stormtroopers came up. In costume, the new ones and the old ones. I was like, ‘This is a dream come true!’ It was like… remember Carrie, when she was at the prom? And she’s having a ****ing blast? And everything’s slo-mo, and you’re like, ‘It’s working out for Carrie! Everything’s coming up Milhouse for Carrie!’ And then all of a sudden… [makes horrible dive-bombing sound]. And I watched it happen in slo-mo."

Kevin Smith went on to describe the horror of watching J.J. Abrams tell everyone in the hall that they should leave to attend a free Star Wars concert. Smith, himself, admits that he wanted so bad to go to the concert that he contemplated canceling his panel to go attend the Star Wars show.

Actor Jesse Eisenberg compares Comic-Con to genocide
https://celebrity.yahoo.com/news/actor-jesse-eisenberg-compares-comic-con-genocide-154826566.html

Eisenberg, who plays Lex Luthor in the upcoming "Batman v. Superman, " was at the massive San Diego convention last week with co-stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavil. In an interview Monday, he was decidedly negative about the experience.

"It is like being screamed at by thousands of people. I don't know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide. I can't think of anything that's equivalent," he said.

Don't worry, Dick...you can go back to being irrelevant soon enough.

What JJ Abrams Told Kevin Smith After The Hall H Debacle
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/What-JJ-Abrams-Told-Kevin-Smith-Hall-H-Debacle-72562.html

As he stood there, watching everyone in his crowd leave, Smith saw Abrams. The two are friends, Smith famously visited the set of The Force Awakens, and Abrams was apologetic. According to Smith, he said:
Oh my god, I’m so sorry, I feel like Darth Vader.

But that wasn’t all. Like I said, the two directors are friends, and Abrams even followed up with an earnest email. Again, Smith is paraphrasing here, hence the swearing (Abrams doesn’t seem like he has the same potty mouth Smith is known for), and he said:
I’m mortified, I’m ****ing like I would never do that to anyone, let alone somebody I adore, like you.

Sure, his panel got the shaft, but for his part, Smith doesn’t seem to harbor any ill will towards Abrams, or Star Wars. He even goes on to joke that now he has the leverage of guilt and can use it to his own advantage and force Abrams to "make me a fat stormtrooper." If nothing else, he has a hilarious story now, and we all know how much Smith loves to tell stories.

Actual superhero Channing Tatum helps Stan Lee off the stage at Comic-Con
http://www.ew.com/article/2015/07/14/channing-tatum-helps-stan-lee-comic-con

The casts of Wolverine, X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four closed out Fox’s Comic-Con panel with an enormous selfie, but the biggest superhero moment actually came from Channing Tatum, as the Gambit star helped 92-year-old Stan Lee off the stage.

Just about every Fox superhero descended upon Hall H for the panel, sharing everything from Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine audition reel to the trailer for Deadpool (which was such a hit, they showed it twice). Toward the end of the panel, Lee and Tatum (in a Gambit T-shirt) made an appearance, and host Chris Hardwick took a selfie with the entire group to wrap things up. While everyone cheered and waved to the audience, Tatum helped the 92-year-old Lee off the stage, and the Internet went nuts.

It's time to admit Comic-Con exclusive footage is dead

The problem with that, is then...why? I missed programming I really wanted to see on Friday, just to wait 16+ hours in line by a cold uncomfortable lake. Stuff I had just seen was literally on the internet seconds later. For ****s sake, at least wait a day. Hell, next year I may just get a hotel room locally and watch the whole thing unfold via laptop while overpaying for impossible to get exclusives on ebay. I may just venture to the local DMV and stand in line just to get that SDCC experience.

Agree with you jd but WB and 20th getting so butt-hurt over this is nothing more then guerrilla PR. They knew exactly what was going to happen when they decided to bring anything to the Con. To act otherwise is just disingenuous - they wanted this to happen to create the buzz about Deadpool and Suicide Squad. AND IT WORKED! I completely agree with the fan's perspective on why wait in a long line to see something that will only hit the net that afternoon - I get it but at least you were at the Con to see it first.

At other Con's you don't get exclusive footage so I won't be surprised if the SD Con no longer gets it either.

So yeah I hope everyone had a blast this year. I sure did! Got everything I wanted, including my Saba Sword!! SO lucky on that one.
But yeah this year was fun. Loved the hotel, probably the best one I've ever stayed at.

Only complaint I have this year is about Funko. Every other exhibitor did a great job except them.

Jesse Eisenberg Is Bad At Hyperbole, But Right About Comic-Con
http://uproxx.com/gammasquad/2015/07/jesse-eisenberg-not-wrong-about-sdcc-2015/

No he isn't.

“Yeah, it’s a mob. Yeah. They were one torch away from burning me,” Eisenberg said. “I’m a normal person with like normal reactions to things, so of course it’s going to be terrifying. If you like that kind of thing and feed off of it in some way, you must have a miserable life.”

Just stop dude.

It's like this line you might enjoy jd...

"If you run into an ******* in the morning, you ran into an *******. If you run into *******s all day, you're the *******." -Raylan Givens, Justified

Why I’m Never Going to Hall H Again. Until Next Year. Maybe.
http://sdccblog.com/2015/07/why-im-never-going-to-hall-h-again-until-next-year-maybe/

Unless you have experienced it, it all seems like a bunch of folks spinning horror stories. This guy pretty much nails the entire should I/shouldn't I of the whole ordeal.

After the Star Wars stuff this year, I'm just not sure anything will be worth waiting in that line again for me. Might start doing the "if there are still wristbands at 5/6am then I'll get in line" thing. Other than that, I just don't know if there will be that pull for me.

Having said that, I'm sure I'll do it next year for Marvel.
