I’m sort of sick of the notion that a monster movie needs to wait an hour or 40 minutes until the creature shows up….Something about this movie made me want to reject that and play a very, very different game.
Vogt-Roberts also notes that Kong isn’t necessarily going to be terribly cuddly and that he wants to tell the movie from the perspective of the giant ape who suddenly has all these annoying jerks with guns in his habitat shooting at him. Which, to be honest, is a monster movie we want to see, and really gets at the root of Kong: He just wants to be left alone, but the more unethical side of progress won’t let him alone. We’ll see how that pays off on March 10th.
