All Things:Science Fiction/Fantasy

Nobody is gonna go watch that King Arthur crap. I am not watching it either, but I never leave my cave, so I don't count. mhihi:

I'm terribly late to the party and not even sure if this is the right sub-forum but The Expanse is the most enjoyable sci-fi television series I can recall. Loved the book but for whatever reason didn't watch the show on SyFy network. Started watching season 1 on Amazon expecting to be disappointed, as with almost everything that goes from book to screen, but enjoyed it more and more as it went along. The book was more of a Space-Noir with Julie dialouging in Miller's head more than in the show but still, they got all the important details right. The Outers pidgin language and tattoos are such immersive features.

Then Horrors! Season 2 on Amazon was ppv. I've been paying for individual episodes until I can catch up to the s2 episodes I can watch for free on SyFy and am about 2/3rds the way through. Gotta read the second book before long.

Renewed for S3

Lots of people love this show, and I am not sure why. I think the writing is mediocre and the acting worse. The sixth or seventh best Sci Fi show currently on TV in my opinion. I watched Season 1, and one or two episodes of Season 2, but that's all I could handle.

Well, I will say that the Miller character is much more compelling if one brings the full character from the book into the series. Thomas Jane is good but the character is more appealing (in the brooding noir detective sense) and central to the story in the book, which readers have the luxury of superimposing onto the screen role.

I'm not watching any other Sci-Fi shows right now so I'd be interested in which others you are enjoying.

Thomas Jane is the best part of that show even without knowing the books, but I think most of the other actors are lagging well behind him. And maybe I'd have a different feeling about the show if I had the background the books provide, but without it, it just doesn't work for me.

Other Sci-Fi, in no particular order:

The Leftovers. Quite possibly the best show on TV. (HBO)
Humans (FX)
Mr. Robot (also borderline sci-fi) (USA)
Westworld (HBO)
Black Mirror (Netflix)
Stranger Things (Netflix)
Fortitude (Amazon)

How Can a King Arthur Story with a Character Named "Kung-Fu George" Be This Generic?

Ladies and gentlemen...your first flop of the summer season...just a few weekends in. $175 million budget, brings in $14.7 on it's opening weekend. Can we finally all admit that Jude Law is box office poison. Charlie Hunnam is off to a poor start as far as carrying a movie. And Guy Ritchie...please, pull an M. Knight and go back to lower budget veddy british pub stories.
