I can't help it. These are a guilty pleasure.

24Framespersecond.net - Bae Doo-Na joins the Wachowskis CLOUD ATLAS

The film is currently in pre-production with a planned October 2012 release and boasts a cast that already includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon and Jim Broadbent. It's also said to be the most expensive German film of all time with a budget of around $150 million.

Excellent news. I LOVE Bae Doo-na.

That's her on the right, BTW. If you've seen Sympathy For Mr Vengeance or The Host, you know her. She rules.

Two things.

1. Not sure if this was posted anywhere else. The search function wasn't too friendly with these words.

2. Figured this would be the best place instead of adding a thread that maybe one or two people might find interesting.

So, with that being said, here's something to see.

World on a Wire is going to be at LACMA August 19th-20th.

It's something I've wanted to see for a while but forgot about it until Rotten Tomatoes mentioned on its site that it was "coming out" this weekend. Anyway, it might be something for those of you who enjoyed The 13th Floor but thought it was missing something (no, not more Gretchen Mol). From all accounts it's a classic sci-fi film even though it was made for TV. Clocks in at a brisk 3hrs and 5 minutes so make sure to go pee first.

Two more I want to see.

I know this one will end up being disappointing because it will start off amazing and then end cheesy, but I still want to see it.

The other one I want to see just looks fun.

Troll Hunter was pretty fun. I liked it a lot.

I really want to see Another Earth as well. I'm hoping the Laemmle in Claremont gets it.

Ok. He has the look. And the distance that the mini-series put in will help...but Whitfield was special. Special enough to lift this above the 'pulp' that it was. Gonna have to have some charisma to fill them sandals.

OMG! could they have made his scrotie basket any bigger????? that's so huge it's ridiculous.
Forget the charisma to fill the sandals...what about filling that basket?

Which Poster For Francis Ford Coppola's TWIXT(vote now)

Sorry i missed this. Val Kilmer and Coppola. And this seems like such a cool idea.

f you?ve been following our San Diego Comic-Con coverage, you know what one the best received panels of the whole event was Francis Ford Coppola presenting his new 3D horror film Twixt, starring Elle Fanning and Val Kilmer. It wasn?t exactly the film itself that really was exciting, though it looked fine, but rather the interactive, live element that Coppola hopes to bring to it. He?s planning on touring the film and, each night, presenting an altered version of the movie based on fan reaction. He?ll be live editing the film or, as he referred to it, performing the film.

Here?s the plot description of Twixt which, of course, doesn?t take into account that Coppola plans to remix the film live:

A writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V. He?s unsure of her connection to the murder in the town, but is grateful for the story being handed to him. Ultimately he is led to the truth of the story, surprised to find that the ending has more to do with his own life than he could ever have anticipated.

Avast! Robert Zemeckis May Take On Sea Monster Epic

Legendary CEO Thomas Tull has come up with the concept for the film, and he has hired Brian Helgeland to write the script. Helgeland is the guy who wrote L.A. Confidential, but don?t get too excited because he?s also the guy who wrote the 2010 version of Robin Hood. Whether he?s the right choice for this project or not will remain to be seen. The focus of the film follows around Revolutionary War naval hero John Paul Jones. You know, the guy who said that he had, ?not yet begun to fight.? Everyone knows that Jones captained the USS Ranger during his time fighting against the British, but what this film presupposes is that he was also grappling with giant sea monsters at the same time. Revolutionary War naval battles and sea monster wrangling are two concepts that could make two great movies. Smoosh them together and you get some sort of Reese?s Peanut Butter Cup of a movie. Tasty

He was saying that the main reason they are redoing F&I is because Frazetta's biggest regret was that they couldn't afford to animate the backgrounds. The pre-production art was pretty sweet and Rodriguez spoke in very reverential tones when speaking of Frazetta. I have total faith that RR will keep everything Frazetta designed.
