Jeff Daniels Says Jim Carrey Still In For ‘Dumb & Dumber’ Sequel, Summer 2013 Shoot Eyed

During a TCA press interview for “The Newsroom,” Daniels revealed that not only is the film still in active development, as Peter Farrelly revealed back in April, but production is even set to begin next year. “Jim wants to do it. I want to do it. The Farrelly [Bros.] want to do it. They want to rewrite the script a little bit and they aren’t trying to jam it in before I have to go back and do ‘Newsroom’ in November,” Daniels said, “So they’re going, ‘Why don’t we just do it right? Let’s get everybody organized to go next May or June.’ If everything works out on the business side, that’s what we’ll do but I think there’s more hope than ever.”

As for Carrey’s previous comments, Daniels chalked the sentiment up to pure irritation on the actor’s end. “I understood why, because this has been a year and a half of a whole bunch of ‘are we, aren’t we, what’s going on, yeah the script’s funny, no it’s not, now we have to have notes.’ So I think Jim just got frustrated and I completely got it. I was frustrated too. We thought it was in pretty good shape.”

'Bill & Ted 3' Moving Forward With Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter & 'Galaxy Quest' Director Dean Parisot | The Playlist

That said, Keanu Reeves did say last year that original writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon were working on a script, and indeed, as of this morning it looks like the film is closer than ever to production, with the script for "Bill & Ted 3" now complete, and Vulture reporting that Dean Parisot, the director of the excellent "Galaxy Quest," is now attached to helm the project.

Written on spec by Matheson and Solomon (the latter of whom went on to pen "Men In Black" and "Charlie's Angels," among others), the script will pick up with Bill & Ted in their forties, rather than rebooting or recasting, with both Reeves and Winter (who was last seen on screen in a 2007 episode of "Bones," having mostly focused on directing in recent years) attached to star. MGM, who were behind the original films, still hold the rights, but the package put together at present is intended to bring in other studios to help co-finance the picture.

Yes, whether you like it or not, a sequel to the seminal 1983 film about a young boy named Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) who pines for the aforementioned piece of hardware during the holiday season is coming to a store near you.

Directed by Brian Levant, this movie follows Ralphie years later as he once again decides he has a big ticket item for the Christmas list: a 1938 Hupmobile Skyline Convertible. Braeden Lemasters plays the lead, Daniel Stern is the dad, Stacey Travis is mom and Valin Shinyei is the brother, Randie. The direct to Blu-ray and DVD film hits on October 30. Keanu Reeves Gives Details on BILL AND TED 3 | Collider

GQ: Is it easy to imagine those characters middle-aged?

Keanu Reeves: I don’t know. It’s one thing to think about it, but to perform it… One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven’t done it. So everybody is kind of like: “Where is the song?” The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock. And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future “us” refuses to tell us, and another future “us” blames us for their lives because we didn’t write the song, so they’re living this terrible life. In one version we’re in jail; in another we’re at some kind of highway motel and they hate us.

Sounds like fertile ground. And with the alternate future takes it will have the Hell vibe that the second(Far superior i.m.o.) one had. Station!

Sequel Bits: ‘Crank 3′, ‘Iron Man 3′, ‘SpongeBob SquarePants 2′, ‘Rio 2′, ‘Last Exorcism 2′, ‘Paranormal Activity 4′ | /Film

Good and bad news for anyone still hoping for another Crank movie: During a recent junket for The Expendables 2, Jason Statham revealed that despite rumors that Crank 3 would get rolling in 2013, he hasn’t so much as seen a script at this point — but that he’d love to continue the thriller series if he can.

“I love those two lads, [directors Mark] Neveldine and [Brian] Taylor,” he said. “I haven’t seen any scripts or anything for it, but they’re a couple that you can’t say no to.” Asked whether that meant he’d be up for Crank 3, Statham had a quick and enthusiastic response: “Of course!” [Collider]

Farrelly Brothers Reveal Plot Details For DUMB AND DUMBER Sequel | Collider

Bobby Farrelly recently spoke about the the sequel, to be titled Dumb and Dumber To [sic], saying

“[Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels] are in a point in their career where they had so much fun the first time that they’re willing to do it. We will make this movie.”

As for the plot, he went on to say,

“The story revolves around the fact that one of them may have sired a child. They want to go and find the child because he’s having a kidney problem and he wants to ask him for one of his kidneys.”

According to IGN, the brothers are looking for an autumn 2013 release, and they have confirmed for wary audiences worried about the continued dumbness of the main characters, “I can tell you that there is no growth out of either one of them.”

More proof that the first one w/Statham was a happy accident. Poor Dougray Scott. If not for a scheduling conflict he was set to be Wolverine. Do you think that haunts him? And Ving Rhames? What happened there?
