All Things: Starz

The way you guys talk about this show is almost enough to get me to pay for starz...almost

You should get it so you can watch American Gods with us when it starts. ;)

I got Starz when the third season of Black Sails was coming out, but there is no point in watching that before I watch the first two seasons, which I STILL haven't seen, and I love Treasure Island, and you peeps have totally sold me on the show, but I am SO unreliable. :fpalm:

The two recent shows that I feel the worst about not watching are Black Sails & The Masters of Sex. I guess you can add Westworld, but I like not getting HBO for some reason, haha.

But yeah... :fpalm:

You people are part of the problem. If you had signed on
It wouldn't be ending

Well, I know notbob is a problem. mhihi:

You might be right though, JD. Then again, I watched Penny Dreadful and that didn't stop from it being cancelled. At this point, I don't mind that it ended as much as how it ended. I expect Black Sails to do better in that department, but yeah, Penny Dreadful.... excuse me, I have something in my eye. *runs away crying*

The first two seasons are on Netflix and Season 3 is available for rent or purchase through Apple Store, etc. if you don't want to buy Starz just for Black Sails.

I will say IT IS SO DAMN WORTH IT. Look at any of my posts and you'll see how much I love this show. The acting is just unbelievable and the production value is stunning.

And can someone please start watching Season 4?! I NEED TO DISCUSS WITH SOMEONE OTHER THAN MY SISTER. I don't know anyone else besides her who watches this glorious show.

Like a nerd, I am going to re-read Treasure Island soon and then start on the show. I've made up my mind. :good:

My favorite Treasure Island reference is in the Simpsons, because of course it is.

Bart fakes a book report on Treasure Island, but fails when he can't name the pirate.

And then twenty some years later, he is still in the same class, now with his son, because he still hasn't read the book, lol.

Yeah, it's pretty keen they seem to have taken a fresh spin on that book. It's a golden age for literature nerds. ;)

I got caught up with Black Sails last night. Thoughts below:

I REALLY hope they aren't trying to convince me that Max is a sympathetic character. Max and Eleanor still deserve their comeuppance and it feels like that has been completely ignored(or downplayed) this season. Other than that, the show still looks great and I'm enjoying every scene with John Silver. It's been hard to match the 3rd season overall but that's to be expected.

Black Sails was at one point streaming on Netflix, no? I think so, but I could just be imagining things.

I don't have Hulu, but I sorta want to get it soon just to watch the upcoming The Handmaid's Tale series. I just read that book and it imagines a world where women are finally put in their place. mhihi:

Haha. Oh, but seriously, it seems to be that both Hulu & Netflix complement each other, but dunno, another service to add...

I have the first Black Sails season on disc, but after watching that, I will have to figure out how to watch the rest of it. ;)

Hulu...has more next day tv shows.
Netflix is for movies.

That being said, I have both. Cause why not. But it's all about what you want.
