All Things: STEPHEN KING

I am wondering what will be the biggest Stephen King turkey, IT or The Dark Tower? I am going with The Dark Tower. That movie just looks like a soon to be flop, but hopefully I am wrong.

You should go watch this movie and take one for the team, JD. mhihi:

I haven't read any of The Dark Tower books, and really don't know too much about them. I am afraid that if I start reading them, I will hafta read the whole series.

I will finally get to IT though, haha, in a few weeks though after I am done with this pile of books that I am currently reading. :good:

The Dark Tower series is amazing...once you get past the first book. It's the shortest, yet a slow read. Haven't read IT. And you dare shame me for Exorcist and Dr Strangelove.

Yeah, you've shamed me about IT before, remember? We're both two shameful peas in a pod. :friends:

IT is a great book. Dark Tower Series is great. Originally read the series starting on book two. I am rereading the series currently as I haven't read some of these in over 20-25 years so forgot a lot of detail specially from books 2-4 and 1 was new to me. Was one of those really pissed off at SK when he wrote the afterword about not continuing after book 3. Originally didn't like book 4 as it did not progress the storyline. However rereading I thinking it might be the best. This series also got me to read Salems Lot and Insomnia so I could understand the backstory to those characters more. Again hope that somehow they do right by the DT series when they put it on screen.

If you haven't read The Stand - do yourself a favor and read it. I think it is his best story and I very much like It, The Shining, 11/24/63 and the Dark Tower. The Stand has it all but as with most of his books the ending is somewhat lacking as he usually struggles there ...

It feels like this flick was almost like a test subject to see whether this could sell. Kind of faulty to put you mediocre foot forward...but who knows.

Definitely have read The Stand. One of my all time favorite books from any author. 11/24/63 was another good read. Have never read the shining. Sometimes it's hard to have interest in a book after I have seen the movie specially as iconic as the movie The Shining.

I haven't been paying attention to many of King's latest works (think: the last ten years), but I really like the premise of 11/24/63 and I want to read it.

You should read The Shining. It gives an insight into why King doesn't like the film. It's not so much changes in plot points, but the overall tone of the book and how Torrance is characterized. But yeah, I like the ending of the movie more. Endings are an issue for King, huh? ;)
