MYTHBUSTERS Stars Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman to Topline New Discovery Series UNCHAINED REACTION

If you enjoy science, blowing things up, and crazy experiments, then odds are you’re a fan of the Discovery series Mythbusters. A great deal of the fun of the show comes from hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, and the duo have just been set to topline another Discovery series with a science edge. Deadline reports that the two will serve as judges for the new show Unchained Reaction. The series will pit “two teams of varying backgrounds — artists, rocket scientists, animatronic specialists, engineers and even your average Joes — against each other to build an elaborate chain reaction contraption on a massive scale.”

Each team is provided with the same tools and materials to complete the job, and is given five days to finish a series of mechanisms with a specific theme. As a big science nut, I’m incredibly excited about the prospect of this new show. It combines the experimental aspect of Mythbusters with the edge of competition. The six-part series is set to debut in March.

Ok, watched the first hour and 1/2 of Alcatrazz last night...I don't really care for the lead and it's a touch clunky so far, but it has real potential with the ability to tell different stories thru 'the 63'. Sam Neill could do the subtle menace thing in his sleep, but it's still fun to watch. Biggest complaint, Giachinno's score is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO heavy handed.

Will Alcatraz's first baddie switch sides soon?
http://blastr.com/2012/01/will-alcatrazs-first-badd.php

The line between the good guys and the bad guys could start to blur soon on J.J. Abrams's new Fox series Alcatraz, at least according to one of the show's first baddies.

Jeffrey Pierce—aka prisoner returnee Jack Sylvane—told The Insider his character will be sticking around well past the pilot and could eventually team up with the task force sent to help hunt down the other prisoners popping up from the past. Sylvane was one of the first returning prisoners introduced on the show, a former soldier who got mixed up in a robbery and eventually sent to the Rock in the 1960s.

Though Sylvane was caught at the end of the pilot episode, Pierce said his character is still around—and could have an even larger role going forward, though if that means flashbacks or modern day is anyone's guess.

Like I said, the show has potential. There is just enough hint of the mythology to make you want to know more and the heart of the storytelling lies in the individual prisoners. It's decent enough so far that I am not going to stop watching it while waiting for it to find a groove. I know Doc was really skeptical of this...are you out there buddy? Have you watched it? What say you?

Allow me a moment to rant...with all the retreads and horrible shows out there I offer this...B.J. and the Bear:The Return. A man with great hair, a monkey, a big rig and an evil redneck sherriff who's out to get them. There is far stoopider stuff on tv. God...the 70's and 80's were so much better.

Anybody who uses "Tim Kring" and "Mastermind" in the same sentence without being ironic deserves a wedgie, a swirly and a murph.

I still haven't seen Alcatraz yet... already 3 episodes behind. Should I bother?

I made sure to watch Touch last night since I'm a huge Kiefer Sutherland fan (thanks to 24). The pilot was extremely good and I was at the edge of my seat for most of the episode trying to figure out where they were going with the numbers. I only wonder how they're going to keep this up before it gets old. Going to have to wait until March 19 for the next new episode? Ugh... that's too far away.

In the meantime, I'm getting ready for the 2 hour series finale of Chuck this Friday. :( I'm going to miss this show so much.

BD Horror News - TV: Learn What 'The River's' Magus Has to Offer

Great pedigree for this show. Seems almost doomed to fail. Slow burn premise featuring found footage of a lost explorer. Could be really good. But it's on ABC. If it isn't given the time it will fail, plain and simple. And the ratings WILL take time to build. A lot of money and push has been put into this...that means nothing if the ratings are marginal. I'll be watching even though I do not expect it to make it past episode 7. Prove me wrong America.

Not sure this is the place but I just finished watching season 2 of Sherlock. Great show, you've got to check it out.

OK but how are they going to explain the cliffhanger at the end of episode 3?!?!?!?!?! (Which I just watched)

All I know is

(minor spoilers)

it probably involves Molly Hooper, whom Sherlock asked for help just before the "event", and the desorienting blow Watson took to the head

No idea how it all comes together though... it will be something clever borderline absurd :)
