All Things: TELEVISON

Don't know why, but I have watched 3 BBs so far. Cast seems more diverse and all around boring than ever (and hopefully less racist than last year?). A twist! Oh noes! One more HOH Block competition every week will cut down on a lot on screen time.

Thoughts on under the dome premiere?

Spoiler alert

Two big deaths already?

Is the dome god testing everyone before they go to heaven or hell?

Haven't seen yet, Free on Amazon Prime starting the Fourth...I think all new episodes will hit there the Friday after they air, moving forward.

EDIT: I managed to avoid specifics but I saw the 2 major death s bit...my thought, new showrunner and, I think, Uncle Stevey taking more of a Robert Kirkman role, has them re-routing the story.

my wife decided we should watch Big Brother this season as a lot of her friends watch it. How in god's name can anyone sit through this? Am I missing something?

At least on the bachelorette there is a contrived purpose, and it's fun to stupidly analyze romance and resolve (okay, the fantasy league I'm in is really why I can stomach it)

But man, so far the only thing Big Brother has done for me has made me google who Ariana Grande is. And that train has long gone..

Hey, that guy could not get all the attention he desperately needs just from gravy training off of his sister's fame, so he had to go on television to get more.

Big Brother is just an elaborate game show involving ridiculous competitions and plotting and scheming. The reason I prefer it to Survivor is that contestants don't have to waste time trying to collect food and build a shelter, and they go a whole week between votes (usually) instead of three days, so that is a lot of time for the plotting and scheming. CBS likes to stock the show with reprehensible tools and idiots, so there is a plenty of train wreck watching in between seeing if the smart people can maneuver their way to the end. I think they intentionally make the competitions as stupid as possible for the kitsch factor.

I was thoroughly entertained watching those rocket scientists mangle that word-constructing competition. Four of them couldn't even create a functional word, and the fifth topped out at seven letters. Of course, if I couldn't drop 'antidisestablishmentarianism' on them, I'd give up too. How hard is it to collect common prefixes and suffixes along with vowels and common consonants, then figure out a word once they announce only a minute is left?

How hilarious is it that the huge baseball guy's insane freakout to bring two more people into his already oversized alliance without asking anyone else beforehand actually paid off when the girl who sometimes has curly hair totally bought into it and then told him of the blue haired girl's plan?

I will now watch an episode of Fargo to clean the cheese off my brain.

We tried watching the next episode taped from the other night, and after 15 minutes even my wife said "i can't take this". So we're done with that show :)

Don't know if anyone has talked about this show yet..."The Last Ship" Sundays on TNT....WATCH THIS SHOW!! I have watched the first 2 episodes using OnDemand today. Soooo good!! This is what "Revolution" should have been like. Episode 3 is tonight. There is time for you to catch up!! Michael Bay is involved in it. Not sure if he is directing or just producing. It looks like a movie, must have a huge budget or people who are great at making a small budget go a long way.

Here is the wikipedia about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Ship_(TV_series)

Disclaimer: I am friends with the guy who plays the ship's Command Master Chief, which is why I watched in the first place. But I would not say it was great if it wasn't. He has been on crap shows before.

Nyssa, I read The Last Ship back in the 80's, and I'm astounded that all these years later it was made into a series. I found the book interesting, yet sad and depressing too. I understand that great parts of the story were changed for the series, I'll be curious to see if they make the story better.

See, then you missed the blue haired girl attempt to save herself by dressing up and acting like some d-bag version of a guy, complete with imitation beard stubble. She got voted out 13-0.

OOOfa, just watched first episode of Under The Dome. Man did they stink up the joint. Characters just popping up out of nowhere, considering the town has been under for a bit now, you wouldn't think there would be anyone not seen so far. But that isn't the worst. Now they are clearly going in the LOST faith vs. science direction. Clumsily. And everytime somebody spoke it was exposition time. If you have to tell your story through people stating the obvious events occuring on screen...you are doing something wrong. This WASN'T a good show season 1. But they had a clear direction and it was entertaining enough. Now it's all a scramble and just tedious and borderline unwatchable. Nice cameo by Uncle Stevie...but he deserves better.

I watched the second ep of Under the Dome last night. I thought the first season was okay, not great, but it's not like I had anything better to do on Monday nights so I watched it. *shrugs*

Dunno, from the looks of it, this season looks like it's gonna be more watered down and I am really doubting that there will be a significant payoff when all is said and done (unless Cthulhu is involved, lol).

Who knows if I'll keep watching. Maybe I should spend time finally reading IT instead. mhihi:

I'm watching the second episode now and it really was never that good. Now that they have fully embraced having the characters constantly talk about what the dome wants them to do, I am tempted to cancel it. I am also not happy with the two characters they killed last week for no really good reason (especially the first one, which was totally pointless). I assume the actresses were just not fully available. I could be finally rewatching Lost, and instead this. Someone tell me when HBO blows through all the episodes of True Detective again.

Fargo was great, btw. I was a little putoff by Lester's Wiley Coyote look right before his Wiley Coyote death, but I can live with that. It was brutal what happened at the end of the second to last episode and how Lester let it happen to see if Malvo was there, but that was the selfish sociopath Lester had become. I had no problem with the time jump, but it seemed really dumb of Lester to forget that Malvo was the devil and not take his advice to walk away, even moreso to say "yes" in the elevator. Even though I am all for what Tom Hanks' kid did at the end, I am pretty sure a postman does not get a commendation for murdering a suspect. Also, they completely forgot about Lester's brother, who presumably was rotting away in prison for a crime he did not commit for a year and counting, and lost his family over it. Great trap Lester set for Malvo though. I kind of wish Malvo had survived so he could have continued to be the devil in a second season.

Nice bit about Wile E. there. But I think Lester confronted Malvo in the elevator due to an inflated sense of ego. He got away with murder...and thrived. So yeah, he forgot himself. As far as Dome...yeah, ready to jump off too. Gonna watch ep 2 and maybe 3 and if I don't see improvement...I am out. Ep 1 offended me as a tv watcher. I have no time for nonsense.

I can understand why Lester did it, but it was still very foolish of him to forget just what Malvo was. And then if he had just helped Malvo with the bodies, maybe Malvo doesn't come after him.

If they do have a second season, does it have more with Solverson or does it follow someone else who finds the money? Probably both.
