All Things: TELEVISON

I've been watching the old Star Trek episodes on BBCA. It's disappointing that they've been remastered with CGI. It just looks wrong.

I think the new effects look great, but I know where you're coming from. The Blu-ray allows you to choose, and the transfer is beautiful as well.

What?? Did Lucas have a hand in those remasters too?

IIRC, the new effects were supervised by Michael Okuda and were incorporated with considerable care and respect. At least, he might be the only one the fanbase would have trusted with the task when it was done a while ago.

What will be the first Fall casualties? The remakes all look Horrible: Exorcist. MacGyver. Lethal Weapon. Frequency. Did I miss any?

And so NBC makes a remake of Legends of Tomorrow... which is still on CW. What are they smoking over there?

I've see so many commercials for Pitch that I know Fox will kill it before Halloween.

Can I vote for the field. The entire field. But no...Timeless looks like something that is PRIMED to fail. Sadly, cause the lead is the sister on Rectify...but she'll be a'ight.

I want to go with Bull, because CBS has high standards for ratings, no one cares about jury consultants, and the star is "that guy from Navy CSI who isn't Mark Harmon or the goth chick". On the other hand, CBS does not have an itchy trigger finger like some other networks do.

FOX usually is the quickest on the trigger, but this season they have to fill that American Idol time. They somehow brought Lucifer back after I swear they gave it a summer burn-off.

There are also some terrible looking new sitcoms on ABC.

Then again, it probably will be Pitch.

It'll most likely be Timeless because I tend to really love time travel shows. So I'll definitely check it out.

At least I know my Chicago shows are safe ***watch me jinx it*** (Fire, PD, and Med, and soon Justice). Their ratings have been pretty stable the last couple of years.

Any thoughts about Kiefer Sutherland's new show? Designated Survivor? I'm going to check that out too but the show will fail unless he can use a gun and kill people. Otherwise it's going to be like his previous show, Touch all over again. People don't want to see Kiefer pretend to be a helpless person when they know he can be a bad ass.

I'll also check out the new 24 (though it won't happen until the Super Bowl I think) and I'm also looking forward to the Prison Break reboot. That one can't get canceled as it is only 8-9 episodes or something right?

I'm not sure I understand the premise of Designated Survivor. It seems like the concept basically plays itself out after the first episode. Guy is kept in a vacuum just in case President/etc get killed. Ok. Then what? It seems as if he is unaware of his mission in the trailer. Ok, but suppose he isn't. Shouldn't he just be commander-in-chief till other provisions are made. And it looks like they are making a crime procedural out of it too. The trailer is completely lost on me. It's almost as if they spun a wheel of words associated with 24 and based the plot on what came up. The MAd-Lib pilot creator. Zero interest, much like everything on abc, cbs and nbc. Make mine FX.

Haha jd. I didn't really watch much of the trailer myself. I think the point is that it's Jack FMing Bauer and that's it.

Honestly seems to be what they are shooting for. It's like they will get the audience first, then make a show out of it. Maybe.
