Detroit Cop Gil Hill, 84, Eddie Murphy’s Boss In The Beverly Hills Cop Movies

Gil Hill, the real-life Detroit policeman who portrayed Eddie Murphy’s no-nonsense boss in the three Beverly Hills Cop films, has died. He was 84.

Hill, who had battled respiratory problems, died Feb. 17 at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit, a local website reported. “We are relieved that his passing was peaceful and painless,” his family said in a statement.

This is from 25 December 2015. Somehow I missed this when it happened. In addition to writing "The Man Trap" episode of Star Trek, George Clayton Johnson also wrote some of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes including "Nothing in the Dark," "A Game of Pool," and "Kick the Can." He also co-wrote the novel and screenplay of "Logan's Run."

His passing on 25 December is particularly poignant, because it is connected to Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling, whose birthday was 25 December. His son mentioned that he held onto life for a couple of days longer than expected in order to meet that date.

George was a regular over at Bookfellows Fine & Rare Books in Glendale as we saw him many times during signings as well as birthday parties for Ray Bradbury he would help arrange. Nice down to earth guy and a great writer. I have a signed 1st edition of Logan's Run in my collection.

Former pro wrestling star Hayabusa dies at 47

Former Japanese pro wrestling star Hayabusa (real name Eiji Ezaki) died Thursday from a brain hemorrhage. He was 47.

Hayabusa is considered by many to be one of the greatest high-flying wrestlers of all time, and he was the top star of Japan's Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling from 1994 to 2001.

The grey and white rat that I found floating in my pool this morning. I knew he was living around my pool equipment, however after hearing birds going crazy yesterday, he might have been running for his life and took a leap of faith and it did not turn out in his favor. Not sure how long his run was but he did destroy some wiring in my pool heater.
 
It's just another domino in the whole 'music sucks today' argument. When we were growing up, there was such an art to music. From the producers(who were almost as essential as the artists) to the cover artists, etc. There is NO art to music anymore. Just digital, auto tuned 'crossover' manipulation. Music has died a little more with the passing of Martin.

You should start watching Vinyl. It is pretty decent and it is just cool to revisit what was probably the heyday of the music industry in terms of new genres and artists. There is both original and covers of some of the best music of the time showcased in the show. That is the best part of the show.
