Son of a bitch!!! Today is way too emotional already. Vin Scully's last day in LA, Dodgers miracle walk-off, Jose Fernandez' tragic death this morning and now Arnie?! I'm going back to bed.

**** 2016.

Sir Neville Marriner passed on this morning at the age of 92...

I believe his best AND worst work was conducting the Amadeus soundtrack...the worst being his operatic interpretations... I remember panning every operatic recording by his Academy of St. Martin In the Fields ensemble in one classical music magazine by basically stating they stepped in what they were playing...and that they should have left THAT in the field... I'm surprised most of those pans wound up in print...uncensored... The magazine unfortunately ceased operations in 2002...

When it came to chamber music...there was none better...

Rod Temperton: Thriller songwriter dies aged 66

According to the article, Rod Temperton's greatest hits were:

Thriller - Michael Jackson
Rock With You - Michael Jackson
Boogie Nights - Heatwave
Give Me The Night - George Benson
Baby, Come to Me - Patti Austin and James Ingram
Sweet Freedom - Michael McDonald

For my money, it's The Groove Line, also by Heatwave. This was the ultimate party jam for a long time, maybe still is, but nobody's invited me to a party lately. R.I.P. to Rod Temperton, a hidden giant of music. Condolences to his friends and family.

And yet another icon of my youth passes away. Yes Grooveline was a great song and a great memory. Another talent lost to time.

Frenchy Martin passes at 69 due to cancer...

http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Wrestling/2016/10/21/22676549.html

I had one run in with him in 1985 at John Wayne Airport...while waiting for my girlfriend's flight to come in...and he brought me to tears...during a flight delay...laughing...

I think that midget wrestler he (and Dino Bravo) pulled the phone gag on is still alive... It was his fault for standing next to the handicapped phone... I saw Frenchie go to the phone and write the number down and give it to Dino Bravo... About five minutes later...the phone rang...and kept ringing... The midget wasn't even close to answering it... About ten minutes later...Frenchie answered the phone...handed it to the midget and said "It's for you!"...
