Mose Allison passed recently...and he was like one of the family... I think I had a number of run ins with him and tried to get him to do a couple of Christmas tunes in the style of the Blues (one of which I wrote the lyrics...praying for the right composer) and he refused both requests numerous times... I later found out that he didn't want to go that road because he felt that Christmas songs were bad luck to a Blues man... The connection was a cousin in Texas who passed on last week... He played with Mose on an emergency basis (if I remember right a bad case of food poisoning that kept this guy out for two weeks) when he hit Texas...
