I'm so old that this was one of the first R movies that I watched (when no one was home) on Z Channel.....
mhihi:

Loved the "Z" channel. Then "ON" TV took over, I use to unhook the orange wire for all my friends that would unscramble the signal.

2Tone was a huge part of my teenage years & The (English) Beat is still a band I truly love.

RIP Rankin’ Roger!

Damn Dave, you were the first person I thought of when I read the news on twitter a bit ago. What a gut punch, man. Absolutely one of the quintessential second wave ska/2T bands out there. ****ing Legend! :(

Legend indeed. Last year, his version of The Beat was suppose tour with The Selecter. They had to cancel because he had a stroke due to brain cancer. He had lung cancer that spread all over his body. I was really bummed that I didn’t get a chance to see them with the Selecter back in November. They got Rhoda Dakar (body snatchers) to dj before the Selecter went on stage. The encore Rhoda sang Rock steady. It was awesome. I’ll try to post it.
