Netflix And ‘Stranger Things’ Creators The Duffer Brothers Respond To Allegations Of Verbal Abuse On Set
https://uproxx.com/news/netflix-duffer-brothers-stranger-things-abuse-allegation/

At the risk of sounding like an apologist(which I am not, if they are guilty, hang em) is there going to be a heightened sensitivity to the point that people are no longer going to be able to chastise an employee(in the case where it is warranted) for fear of it being confused or turned around into a harassment claim. There really needs to be some vetting of these accusers before we all automatically assume they are telling THE truth, not just THEIR truth. It's just become too easy to cry wolf. And NO, I am not standing up for the guilty, but the unjustly accused...yeah. Not saying that applies to this case, just saying.

Terry Gilliam Equates The #MeToo Movement To ‘Mob Rule’ And Blasts Harvey Weinstein’s Accusers
https://uproxx.com/news/terry-gilliam-metoo-mob-rule/

The headline is misleading. Gilliam is known to be a little salty, and while his comments are a little bit of an over simplification, they are not without merit.

“It’s crazy how simplified things are becoming. There is no intelligence anymore and people seem to be frightened to say what they really think. Now I am told even by my wife to keep my head a bit low,” he told the press outlet in Paris. “It’s like when mob rule takes over, the mob is out there they are carrying their torches and they are going to burn down Frankenstein’s castle.” As for his comments about Weinstein, who he said “is an ******* and he made so many enemies,” Gilliam’s opinions took a far darker turn:

“It is a world of victims. I think some people did very well out of meeting with Harvey and others didn’t. The ones who did knew what they were doing. These are adults, we are talking about adults with a lot of ambition.

“Harvey opened the door for a few people, a night with Harvey — that’s the price you pay… Some people paid the price, other people suffered from it.”

"Sex Cult" sounds like a song title on the latest Spinal Tap album.

At the end of the day, aren't they all sex cults? Pretty sure Jupiter Saphire's asexual cult of enlightenment garnered no interest.

Nerdist Has Scrubbed Chris Hardwick From Its Website In The Wake Of Abuse Allegations Against Him
https://uproxx.com/news/chris-hardwick-abuse-accusations-chloe-dykstra/

It hurts me to post this. In fairness...he has yet to respond.

I've been a bit of a fan, too, so I'd be really interested in seeing that response. It's gotta come at some point, and soon.

That being said, there are two things that this situation brought immediately to mind:

1) In his stand-up, he's told a story about a girlfriend he had who was way younger than him. She got them these onesie pajamas with animal heads and tails, and there was a humorous anecdote about a fainting dog and a pizza guy. I think it's a safe assumption that Ms. Dykstra, known for her cosplay and other nerdy tendencies, was that girlfriend.

2) Hardwick seems to have it in him to be pretty hard on things he doesn't enjoy or is not interested in. And he can be a little bit of a dick about it. I say that because of the way I've seen and heard him discuss certain topics, like sports. He makes no secret that he was never into sports, never liked them, and in the things I've seen, he has little time or respect for them. When sports happened to be a pop-culture or trending topic, his comments were often about how everyone else was into "sportsball" and the tone was pretty dismissive or superior. A few years ago, he was talking about some changes Nerdist was making and that he grudgingly felt like he had to create a sports beat, because apparently other people were into stuff like that. Now that is a faaaaaaaaaaaar cry from what is being laid at his feet today, obviously. But for glimpses of that attitude and how that could be extrapolated... I hear this and I'm very surprised, but I'm not exactly shocked. Nor do I find this completely unimaginable.
