I get what you're saying. Their previous albums were building towards YHF. And then, well, the later albums seem to lack the same intensity, because this was a pretty intense album if you think about it not to mention just sonically impressive.
Still, I am from the school of thought that their albums since there are at least solid. You just have to listen to them, and they might grow on you.
Sky Blue Sky grew on me. And The Whole Love is a mixed bag, but there is some experimental stuff on that album that I really like. But yeah, YHF is one of those one in a lifetimes type of albums. Just like Wham's Make it Big. mhihi:
