Are We Soft?

I want to see Kopitar challenge McD to drop the gloves on the opening face off, or their first face off together.

Whether or not McD obliges is irrelevant. It would send a message and set the tone for the game.

What if McD obliges and gives Anze a concussion?

Yeah the last thing we need is Kopi injured going into the playoffs. The focus needs to remain winning the Cup, not payback on McDavid/Edmonton. That said, Kings need to come out and play a physical game and get a hefty amount of clean hits in.

I do agree, however, with those who said the Kings should have responded immediately after the boarding happened. Winning the game is less important than stopping future such actions from happening, and we know Edmonton (and specifically McDavid) has gotten away with way too much against the Kings the last two seasons.

The way to exact revenge against the Oilers is beating them in the playoffs.

Good luck trying to catch up to McFreaky to hit him. That, and the league gives him special treatment.

Especially considering that McDavid was being called for a minor penalty, so a retaliation response would have only resulted in a 4x4, with the OIlers most dangerous player in the box.

If there was a big scrum and it turned into a ***** show, would that have made the refs look at the hit differently? The Kings did not seem to mind the hit, so why should the refs give a flying duck.

I am glad Kassian is no longer a greasy oilier. He would have run this team out of the playoffs again.

The team's temperament is a reflection of its leaders. How many times have Kopi or Drew dropped the gloves in their careers? Danault is the only guy with a letter who will stick up for his teammates.

Yep, Lady Bing's trophy seems to be coveted more by this team than Lord Stanley's.

We don’t have the horses to play a heavy game. It’s showed against the Oilers twice, and the Flames. Worst part is, the Goal Scoring has dried up. We had chances tonight and didn’t put them away.

Gonna need a tweak or three this off-season.

Need to score a greasy goal or two in a game like this, and the Oilers are just going to play dump and pound, they’ll get away with clutch and grab in their own zone because it’s playoff time, and grind us into mush in the first round.

Wish they would realize that scoring goals is fun and all, but it doesn’t lead to wins this time of year, and that’s what what fills the seats.

Dennis Bernstein just made a great point on Twitter about QB, how many teams have a 3 goal scorer in their top 6?

Well, a huge part of that is Kevin Fiala and Gabe Vilardi. We have a lot of good players to match up and play great but we have to have healed Fiala and Vilardi in the lineup to stay with the top teams. Throw in possibly our best DMan in Mikey Anderson and we are hurting. We just need to get in the playoffs and get those guys healthy.

IT's' true and even as someone who has defended him all year and his placement on that line, you can't help but look at it and think - how is that going to work in the playoffs? It'll be good experience for him, but definitely limits where the team can go. That being said, who do we put up there? The obvious candidates are Fiala and Vilard if/when they're back, but they haven't clicked up there. The way Arvidsson is playing he deserves it, but then you mess with that line. No one to call up that would be an obvious fit. This has been our best offensive season in a while, but it seems like offense may be what kills us in the playoffs and whether those of us who like him like it or not, QB is a part of that.

Have to disagree. 9-11-13 worked well when employed earlier in the season and those 3 players work well together on the PP. If Gabe is healthy, it might make sense again.

Ding Ding Ding.
This is the only and obvious move. I also think Grundstrom would fit, just not as well as Gabe.
QB is just not ready to handle that load and make any difference.

Guess I'm remembering it wrong. Logically, it does seem like the right fit for sure.

That being said... 13 is the one rumoured to be out for the longest I believe?

The Kings are soft, And the opposing teams know it and that is they're strategy in defeating the Kings and it will continue to happen to the Kings until they put a stop to it. It isn't the league job to do it, the refs could have thrown McDirty out of the game but didn't. But at the end of the day the Kings need to man up and push back physically. You watch the other teams, they collectively push back when one of their players are taken advantage of but not the Kings. I personally think TM is the cause of it. None of his teams he coached ever pushed back, every team he has coached got pushed around. As Far as Macwan I think his jaw has healed completely and plus I think TM has him on a tight leash as far as fighting goes.

In terms of softness, this team isn't built that way. I'd prefer Lemieux and his penalties to what we traded him for personally. At least he was in people's faces and reacting when our players were getting run etc. But you can't put it all on MacEwen, toughness just hasn't been a thought when building this team for some reason.

Has anyone given a clue what the upper body injury may be? I have seen nothing beyond that.

All I’m going off is the mayor saying he may be out for an extended period. He’s been wrong before but assuming he heard that somewhere that would make it semi reliable.

The way he went into the boards looked really rough on his back, hope its not that
