Brandt Clarke Update

I don’t see him peaking as a 20-year old. But he sure is making a statement playing against Junior competition. I don’t believe Clarke will be spending much, if any, time in Ontario next season.

He shouldn't, really. Now the job Rob has is to make sure he plays with the big club and with a capable linemate that will mentor him and cover for the (inevitable) defensive issues. Which one I have no idea. I'd guess Mikey would be the best fit? I'm sure DD can adapt to another partner...

After serving a one-game suspension for a hit that to me was reminiscent on Brown's hit on Rozsival, Clarke had a goal and 2 assists and was a +2.

Barrie leads Hamilton 3-2 in the series.

Clarke started a comeback from a 3-0 deficit vs Hamilton and Barrie wins a thriller 5-4. He had two assists too including the 2nd assist on the GWG with 9.2 seconds left in the 3rd. He leads the league in playoff scoring with 17 points in 5 games (5G 12A). Barrie moves on to the 2nd round vs North Bay.

Super impressive, as is the fact that he is a +12 over those 5 games.

On a side note, Francesco Pinelli's little brother Luca is 3rd on the OHL playoff points list with 12 points (5 goals and 7 assists) in 5 games as an 18 year old. Maybe we grab him in the upcoming draft and have a brotherly connection?

Haven't updated this in a while. Clarke has definitely cooled off in the second round against North Bay. His Barrie Colts lead the series 2-1. Game 4 tonite. In 8 games, he has 6 goals, 14 assists and is a +9. His 20 playoff points leads the OHL.

North Bay won 7-3 tonight to take a 3-2 series lead. Clarke had a goal but the Colts need to pick up their game. I guess if they lose, then he comes to LA. Maybe there isn't a downside either way...

Games 6 and 7 are on Monday and Tuesday, so Clarke could be available in a matter of days.

Does anybody know if Clarke playing in the playoffs, which would cause him to reach 10 games played for the season, means a year is burned off his ELC? I can't imagine Todd being willing to play him in any event.

playoff games do not count, they don't count against the cap, he wouldn't be paid.

That was a fun watch. This kid definitely has a lot of Drew Doughty in him. The laugh, the goofy sense of humor, having fun and competitive spirit. Not the fastest skater but looks slippery as heck.

Barrie gave up 2 in the 3rd to lose. Will Clarke in joining the Black Aces soon?
