Problem with this philosophy, though, is that as the 3rd highest paid on the team, and personally accounting for 10.2% of the payroll, PLD is being paid to be great, not merely good. I do agree, though, his true value is going to shine come playoff time as he will play a significant role in getting us past the 1st round.Some said that about Kopitar...but he has a fine resume for a "floater". He said at one point "when everyone is good no one needs to be great" and some LGKers got an awful allergic reaction to those words. But Kopi spoke the truth. The team needs to play good and cohesive and as close to their 100% as possible without risking too much (injuries, exhaustion before playoffs etc.) and everyone is better off compared to team not trying enough because McDavid and Drai do all the work.
