Byfield

I take a game off due to travel and QB explodes, reborn akin to little baby Jesus. He definitely earned that empty net tally, hunting Hanifin down like a dog. Nice work, kid.

Confidence is the key, I think. It's like all of a sudden the guy's realised that though he still has a lot to learn, he's no longer merely a student of the game. He's no longer just the new kid on the block, but a fully contributing part of what is currently a great success for this franchise. It certainly helps that much of what he's tried to contribute thus far has been successful. I think he suddenly realises that within the system laid down, because, after all, he has already shown himself clearly to be, first and foremost, a team player, that the sky's the limit and it'll be very interesting and, one would expect, rewarding for all to see just how far QB continues to push his own bubble to find out exactly what, even at this early juncture in his career, he is truly capable of.

I’m worried now that he moved Kempe away that his chances are going to suffer more. The line shuffling may not be good for him.

Here, I’ll give you a little boost. Byfield looks lost again without Kempe, and the Kings -should- have drafted Stützle. ;)

Byfield has looked ineffective for the last 3 games, But tonight he was basically invisible. It's the other team focusing on containing Kempe that has until now created the open ice for #11 and #55. Moore just won't get that kind of respect (except from we Thousand Oaks people), regardless of the goals he is putting up.

I don't think "may" is the correct word. I think "will" is closer to the truth. Kempe is the team's #1 offensive threat, on whatever line he plays. The opposition won't double team Moore they way they have vs. Juice all season. And tonight, PLD, Laffy and Juice played such a good speed game that a double team or other overload on Kempe never had time to materialize. I like that line and hope it stays together for a bit. It will surely jump the level of Laffy's game.

This isn’t right at all. Moore and Byfield were very good last night. Especially in the 1st and 3rd period. They both created plenty of room in the offensive zone. Byfield’s board work was great. He plays the same high pressure, board battle, puck retention, playmaking game every night. Moore found the soft areas in Detroit’s defense and he had the breakaway he should’ve scored on but the goalie made an excellent stop.

The issue on the line was Kopitar. He wasn’t effective. He just had a bad night. He couldn’t pass or shoot and his defense was lacking. Byfield bailed him out multiple times by using his speed to pick up Kopi’s man counterattacking with pace. Not a big deal. He just has to be better the next game.

“This isn’t right at all” in your world, my friend. Other people have also posted the same thoughts I expressed in this thread. We know you are 55‘s #1 supporter and that’s cool. But you are over-hyping a less than effective game by all 3 guys on that line last night. I don’t believe Moore is a good fit for those guys.
