Cal Petersen placed on waivers.

WEll Quick didn't fair any better than Cal against the Kracken. But Cal gets the boot. Real good decision making right there. TM should be the one fired. I would be calling Barry Trotz and if he would take the job. I would fire TM before i Even ended the call with Trotz.

They certainly aren't going to waive Quick. Let Cal go back to Ontario and get his head on straight.

I don’t know if this is the one big move to shake things up or the 1st of many. I don’t think he’s going to get picked up with his play & his contract. But he can go to Ontario & maybe get his game & confidence back. It’s something earlier this season I thought should happen but didn’t think it would since it’s so radical. Hopefully this is the solution to the Calvin Problem.

Something needed to happen after that abomination. Hopefully, it's the first of several meaningful changes.

Yes Cal should have been waived, but never ever signed to that contract when he never proved a thing. It is the same thing with Ilya.

There is no reason Spence should not be up. Would rather have him and Clarke than Roy, Durzi I love on the PP and was awesome last season. But he needs a little help down south with a little come to Jesus.

I am disappointed in Blake from the hiring to TM and ok fine, I never liked him. But still, this is a much bigger deal than waving Cal.

I think Cal will find his game again with the Reign, the question is will Villalta use the opportunity to impress and make Cal expendable.

I think with the kinds of defensive breakdowns we've seen, so far it doesn't look like very many players are interested in the defensive part of the game. Whether it's structure, preparation, inability, disinterest, or some combination of all of the above, it needs to be addressed if this current group wants to progress as a team.

Almost shocked actually. I just finished Kraken game and Cal was freaking out at the end, I wonder if something bad carried into the locker room and he had to be moved.

Can you elaborate on that? I didn't notice anything and will have to go back to the recording now.

Man...I never had trust in Cal...weak blockerside.. too deep...no confidence...now we need to scrap this non D...Defenceman bs...Kopitar and Kempe just don't play right...they should be the 3rd line..Kopitar just got slow...he was an amazing player but now is 3rd line quality....we need some stable D pick up a 2nd line center..for 22 and 13..and roll 3 quality lines...fire the coach...we play like the playoff sharks. In the regular season...it's great we can score...but our D is Swiss cheeze...doughnut included...

What I saw at the end of the game was Cal skating to the bench and when he got close to it he performed an overhead swing with his goal stick breaking it two and then he got off the ice. I wonder if somehow he was given a heads up that if he didn't improve his play he would be done and with this weak performance he knew he was done and letting his frustration out.

the only thing i saw was that he looked pretty upset about the final goal, and smashed his stick on the bench on the way to the locker room. Which, given how the night went, is to kind of be expected. If there's more than that, id be interested to hear about it.

/EDIt - just saw answer above. Sounds like nothing more than player frustrated at how the night, and his season, has gone so far.

It comes down to effort, who wants to put in time and effort. Not many look like they do. In spurts they do but not for 60 minutes

This is TM's 4th year behind the bench. The team should have an identity but don't. Good coaches are able to figure out his team strengths and weakness and talent level and devise a system that will help the team compete, whether it be a defensive or offensive system. When I read different posts stating the Kings are weak, have a weak defense and or offense is weak and so on. And seeing it as I watch the games. It is unacceptable that a coach in 4th year still hasn't instilled how his team will play. TM is on his third team and the previous two resulted in failure for him and so is this one. He needs to be the next one to go if the Kings keep playing like they do.

You mean Copely...

I think he can come in and get on a hot streak. We've seen it time and time again in the NHL with "washed up" / AHL / veteran / journeymen netminders. Goaltending, unless you are flat out elite, is just a fickle, head scratching position sometimes. With or without a competent defense.

Pass....I watch the team...pass
